- When the Law Changes Therapy: Interrupted Time-Series Analysis of the Regulatory Impact on Intravenous Analgesic Consumption in 2 Italian Orthopaedic Hospitals (2021-2024). [Journal Article]Hosp Pharm. 2026 Aug 10; :00185787261474381. [Online ahead of print]HP
- CONCLUSIONS: The reclassification coincided with a marked reduction in IV tramadol use and a parallel rise in IV NSAID use. The rise in pharmacy expenditure was driven less by the regulatory shift than by the local formulary choice that accompanied it.

- .Degradation of active drugs in medicinal vials exposed to temperature extremes encountered during military operations: the Military Medication Temperature Effect Study. [Journal Article]BMJ Mil Health. 2026 Aug 11. [Online ahead of print]BM
- CONCLUSIONS: Most of the medications tested retained acceptable physicochemical characteristics over 28 days under conditions simulating field exposure. These findings provide preliminary support that some medications may remain suitable for use when manufacturer-recommended temperatures cannot be maintained, and resupply is unlikely. However, the single sample (n=1) study design limits confidence in the findings. Further replicated studies are required before these results should inform medicines management policy.

- Postoperative Intravenous Ketorolac Does Not Affect Nonunion Risk in Surgically Treated Long Bone Shaft Fractures. [Journal Article]J Am Acad Orthop Surg Glob Res Rev. 2026 Aug 01; 10(8).JA
- CONCLUSIONS: Postoperative administration of IV ketorolac within 5 days of surgery does not increase the odds of nonunion or nonunion-related revision surgery for femoral, tibial, or humeral shaft fractures in low-risk adults. These findings support the use of short-duration IV ketorolac as part of multimodal analgesia protocols in postoperative fracture care.

- The Impact of Age and Exercise Training on Endothelial-Mediated Mechanisms of Vasodilation during Passive Leg Movement in Males. [Journal Article]Am J Physiol Regul Integr Comp Physiol. 2026 Jul 30. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- Passive leg movement (PLM) offers a robust method for assessing vascular function; however, the interactions among age, endothelial-mediated vasodilatory mechanisms, and exercise training-induced PLM modulation remain poorly understood. To address these gaps, the vasodilatory responses to PLM, quantified as leg vascular conductance (LVC) dynamics, were measured in younger (n=9, 25±4 yr) and older…

- Formulation development of a biphasic release tablet-in-tablet system containing ketorolac tromethamine. [Journal Article]PLoS One. 2026; 21(7):e0354689.Plos
- Ketorolac tromethamine (KT) is a potent nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for moderate to severe pain management. Its short elimination half-life necessitates frequent dosing, which can reduce patient compliance. The objective of this study was to formulate, develop, and optimize a novel biphasic-release tablet-in-tablet (TIT) system for KT to provide immediate pain relief followed…

- Amniotic Fluid Embolism: A Case Report. [Case Reports]S D Med. 2026 Feb; 79(2):72-75.SD
- In obstetrics, an amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is a rare and highly devastating event. This case highlights the presentation of an amniotic fluid embolism and its treatments. A 35-year-old G1P0 became pulseless shortly after her cesarean section and was successfully resuscitated with high-quality CPR, fluid administration, and a regimen of atropine, ondansetron, and ketorolac. She was under gene…
- Central Macular Thickness, Subfoveal Choroidal Thickness, and Choroidal Vascularity Index After Phacoemulsification: Bromfenac versus Ketorolac. [Journal Article]Korean J Ophthalmol. 2026 Jul 28. [Online ahead of print]KJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Prophylactic bromfenac and ketorolac demonstrated comparable overall efficacy in managing postoperative inflammation following cataract surgery. In this exploratory study, bromfenac maintenance therapy was associated with smaller postoperative CVI changes, suggesting a potential role for continued NSAID use in modulating early choroidal microvascular responses.

[Journal Article]J Arthroplasty. 2026 Jul 28. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: In patients undergoing primary TKA, intraoperative PAI alone produced outcomes comparable to combined ACB plus IPACK and PAI through the first fourteen postoperative days. These Level I findings, captured using high-frequency remote patient monitoring, suggest that routine use of multiple regional blocks may not provide clinically meaningful additional benefit within contemporary multimodal pathways.

- CONCLUSIONS: Perioperative ketorolac use does not elevate the postoperative AKI risk, regardless of administration route. Risk factors for AKI include preexisting CKD, men, elevated BMI, need for intraoperative transfusion, and history of hypertension.

- Acute Interstitial Nephritis after Single Dose of Ketorolac. [Case Reports]R I Med J (2013). 2026 Aug 01; 109(8):11-12.RI
- Acute interstitial nephritis (AIN) is an immunologically mediated cause of acute kidney injury (AKI), most often drug-induced, with NSAIDs being a leading culprit. We present a 39-year-old woman who developed biopsy- proven AIN following a single intramuscular dose of ketorolac, an exceptionally short latency likely due to prior sensitization. Despite lacking classic systemic features, she exhibi…
- Suppression of Quorum Sensing and Virulence Factors by Meloxicam and Celecoxib in Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Clinical Isolates. [Journal Article]Antibiotics (Basel). 2026 Jul 21; 15(7).A
- Background:Staphylococcus aureus is a major cause of life-threatening infections, and increasing antimicrobial resistance necessitates alternative therapeutic strategies. This study evaluated the antiquorum sensing and antivirulence activities of selected nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) against S. aureus clinical isolates by targeting the accessory gene regulator (agr). Methods: Ant…

- The Impact of Intraoperative Dexamethasone and Mannitol on Postoperative Inflammatory Response in Totally Tubeless Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy: A Prospective, Double-Blind, Controlled Clinical Trial. [Journal Article]Adv Urol. 2026; 2026:9465166.AU
- CONCLUSIONS: The intraoperative use of dexamethasone and mannitol during TTPCNL effectively mitigated postoperative inflammatory responses. This was achieved by reducing levels of IL-6 and decreasing the occurrence of SIRS. Additionally, patients experienced a shorter postoperative hospital stay, lower VAS pain score, lower CDG, and lower analgesic consumption. - Comparative efficacy of different treatment modalities in the management of macular oedema in retinitis pigmentosa: a systematic review and network meta-analysis. [Systematic Review]BMJ Open Ophthalmol. 2026 Jul 23; 11(3).BO
- CONCLUSIONS: CAIs and DEXi demonstrated the greatest long-term anatomical benefit for RP-associated macular oedema, whereas durable BCVA gains remained limited across available therapies. While oral and topical CAIs showed comparable short-term efficacy, topical dorzolamide and DEXi provided greater long-term CMT reduction than oral CAIs. Given the limited number of studies and small sample sizes, these findings should be interpreted cautiously and validated in larger randomised controlled trials.

- CONCLUSIONS: These preliminary findings suggest that preoperative UGT1A9 expression may be associated with postoperative ketorolac analgesic response in thyroid cancer surgery. This study provides hypothesis-generating evidence for future pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic validation studies exploring pharmacogenomic individualization of perioperative NSAID analgesia.
