- Drug-induced psoriasis following sacubitril/valsartan: a case report and literature review. [Journal Article]BMC Cardiovasc Disord. 2026 May 23. [Online ahead of print]BC
- CONCLUSIONS: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case worldwide of psoriasis potentially associated with SV, and the underlying mechanism appears likely to be related to sacubitril. It serves as a caution for clinicians prescribing SV, particularly in patients with a history of psoriasis or positivity for the HLA-Cw*0602 allele. Further studies are warranted to confirm the mechanism by which sacubitril induces psoriasis.

- A novel small-molecule secretagogue, MDC134, amplifies glucose-dependent insulin secretion in pancreatic β-cells. [Journal Article]Biochem Biophys Res Commun. 2026 Jul 23; 823:153962.BB
- Insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells is controlled by multiple mechanisms, including metabolic, electrophysiological, and second-messenger pathways. To identify insulinotropic small molecules, we performed in silico similarity screening using zatebradine, an HCN-channel ligand, as a structural query and functionally evaluated 26 hit compounds. Compound 2 showed the strongest insulinotropic a…

- Identifying Optimal Drug Loading in Stable Amorphous Solid Dispersion Formulations: A Rheological Approach. [Journal Article]
- Synthetic polymers play a crucial role in enhancing the performance of drug formulations by enabling controlled release, improving bioavailability, and ensuring stability. Copovidone is frequently employed as an excipient in hot-melt extrusion (HME) to augment the solubility of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). However, this method faces two significant challenges: identifying the optimal…

- The effect of dehydroepiandrosterone on the vascular system: role of H2S/NO pathways. [Journal Article]Eur J Pharmacol. 2026 May 09; 1026:178957. [Online ahead of print]EJ
- Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is an adrenal steroid hormone that serves as a precursor to androgens and estrogens and participates in several physiological processes. Its levels naturally decline with age, and reduced DHEA concentrations have been associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. However, this relationship is complex, and further research is required to clarify whether…

- Pseudolymphoma Associated with Calcium Channel Blockers: A FAERS Disproportionality Analysis Comparing Dihydropyridines and Non-Dihydropyridines. [Journal Article]Can J Physiol Pharmacol. 2026 May 07. [Online ahead of print]CJ
- Introduction Calcium channel blockers (CCBs), particularly amlodipine, are among the most widely prescribed antihypertensive agents globally. However, no comprehensive disproportionality analysis has quantified this association. This pharmacovigilance study utilized the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) to evaluate the reporting association between CCBs and pseudolymphoma. Methods The FA…

- Shear Stress Promotes Metastasis of Triple-negative Breast Cancer Cells Through Calcium Channel-ROS-FOS Axis. [Journal Article]Int J Biol Sci. 2026; 22(8):4315-4333.IJ
- During metastasis, circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are subjected to fluidic shear stress (SS), which eliminates many of them but paradoxically enhances malignancy and metastatic success. Meanwhile, given the critical roles of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in stress response and cancer, we engineer a circulation-mimicking microfluidic system which generates pulsatile SS to investigate the interplay…

- Testosterone reduces uterine contractions in vivo: Evidence for non-genomic action in rats. [Journal Article]PLoS One. 2026; 21(5):e0348344.Plos
- This study aimed to investigate the non-genomic effect of testosterone (T) on uterine muscle contractility in non-pregnant and 22nd day pregnant rats, in vivo. It provides the first evidence of an in vivo T uterine relaxation effect during pregnancy. Circulating T levels were measured within 8 hours after a single intraperitoneal (ip) administration of T (10 mg/kg) by ELISA. The kinetic curves of…

- CACNA1C as a Prognostic Biomarker and Therapeutic Target in High-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer: Clinical Validation and Molecular Dynamics of Nifedipine Blockade. [Journal Article]bioRxiv. 2026 Apr 22.B
- High-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer (HGSOC) is the most lethal gynecological malignancy due to aggressive growth, widespread metastases, and high intra-tumoral heterogeneity. Poor prognosis is largely due to late diagnosis, hence there is an urgent need to identify novel biomarkers for screening, diagnosis, and monitoring. Here, we propose the voltage-dependent calcium channel hCaV1.2 encoded by CAC…

- Can monomethyl fumarate and nifedipine reduce ischemia reperfusion injury in rat ovary, and what is the share of oxidative stress-sensitive transcription factors HIF-1α, NF-κB, and Nrf2? [Journal Article]Iran J Basic Med Sci. 2026; 29(3):446-457.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: MMF and NF exerted protective effects against ovarian I/R injury by modulating oxidative stress and apoptosis. These findings suggest that the coordinated regulation of HIF-1α, NF-κB, and Nrf2 pathways may play a pivotal role in reducing reperfusion-related ovarian tissue damage.

- Objectives: As widely used first-line antihypertensive drugs, dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers (DHP-CCBs) have relatively few studies comparing their adverse reactions based on real-world data. This study aims to identify and compare the potential adverse drug reaction (ADR) signals of four DHP-CCBs (amlodipine, felodipine, nicardipine, and nifedipine) through the US Food and Drug Adminis…
