- Emerging non-invasive tools for hair follicle assessment: a narrative review on hyperspectral and terahertz imaging. [Review]
- Hair loss, though often dismissed as cosmetic, reflects complex vascular, metabolic, structural, and inflammatory changes within the scalp microenvironment. Conventional diagnostic tools such as visual inspection, dermoscopy, trichoscopy, and biopsy remain limited in their ability to determine these evolving processes non-invasively. Recent advances in optical physics and biomedical engineering h…

- Linear Versus Curved Incision for Transcutaneous Bone Conduction Implants: Comparative Scar Assessment. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Linear incisions may offer advantages in scar appearance with transcutaneous BCIs. Certain scar characteristics may also be influenced by the type of device and the surgical approach required for its placement, making it challenging to isolate this effect from that attributed solely to type of incision. These results highlight the need to consider both cosmetic factors and auditory outcomes in surgical planning.

- Clinical and Molecular Findings in Two Siblings with a Novel Homozygous DCAF17 Frameshift Variant and Review of the Literature: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Mol Syndromol. 2026 Jun 03. [Online ahead of print]MS
- CONCLUSIONS: Although a definitive genotype-phenotype correlation for DCAF17 has yet to be established, the phenotypic overlap between our patients and previously reported cases supports the clinical consistency of WSS. The observation of persistent erythrocyturia and hemoglobinuria in both siblings represents an additional clinical finding; however, its relationship to WSS remains uncertain and requires further investigation. The identification of this novel pathogenic DCAF17 variant further broadens the mutational spectrum of the disorder.

- Ivarmacitinib in atopic dermatitis presenting with prurigo nodularis-like lesions and alopecia areata: a case report. [Case Reports]
- Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, relapsing inflammatory skin disorder characterized by intense pruritus, eczematous lesions, and significant impairment of quality of life. In severe or chronic cases, AD can present with diverse atypical phenotypes, among which prurigo nodularis (PN)-like lesions are clinically challenging due to their recalcitrance to conventional therapies. Patients with sev…

- Alopecia areata as a sentinel condition for systemic autoimmunity: a global bidirectional cohort study. [Journal Article]Dermatology. 2026 Aug 14; :1. [Online ahead of print]D
- Introduction Alopecia areata (AA) is an autoimmune, non-scarring hair loss disorder increasingly recognized as a systemic immune-mediated condition. Previous studies examining AA-associated autoimmune diseases were limited by narrow disease scope, single-country cohorts, or lack of bidirectional and sex-stratified analyses. This study comprehensively evaluated over 50 autoimmune conditions in AA …

- CONCLUSIONS: Relapse during ongoing JAK inhibitor therapy is not uncommon in real-world alopecia areata management, and rescue outcomes are heterogeneous and not reliably predicted by baseline clinical features or the selected rescue approach, supporting individualized management.

- Safety Considerations in Hair Restoration Procedures: A Comprehensive Review. [Journal Article]J Craniofac Surg. 2026 Aug 13. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Hair transplantation carries the risk of both minor and major complications. While common complications are generally self-limited, they may negatively impact outcomes. Rare but serious complications can occur. Emphasis on patient optimization, surgical technique, and early recognition is essential, and standardized reporting is needed to better define incidence and risk factors.

- Systematic Review Efficacy of Topical Minoxidil for Nail Growth: A Systematic Review. [Journal Article]Skin Appendage Disord. 2026 Jun 27. [Online ahead of print]SA
- CONCLUSIONS: Preliminary evidence from three studies indicates that topical minoxidil may stimulate nail growth in healthy individuals and patients with nail growth disorders. Nevertheless, the limited number of included studies (n = 3), small sample sizes, and heterogeneous study designs preclude definitive clinical recommendations. More comprehensive randomized controlled trials should be conducted to prove efficacy and develop standardized treatment regimens.
