- Panaxynol mitigates chemotherapy-induced intestinal mucositis by improving the colonic microenvironment in murine models. [Journal Article]Am J Physiol Gastrointest Liver Physiol. 2026 May 01. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- Chemotherapy-induced mucositis (CIM) is a debilitating side-effect impacting as many as 90% of cancer patients undergoing treatment. Patients receiving 5-Fluorouracil (5FU), a first-line chemotherapeutic in colorectal cancer, experience significant gastrointestinal distress that perpetuates poor patient quality of life and reduces treatment tolerance, efficacy, and survival. Natural compounds hav…

- A novel purification strategy based on functionalized melamine sponge for determining multiple pesticides in complex-matrix American Ginseng. [Journal Article]
- This study addresses the complicated pretreatment steps in pesticide residue detection of American Ginseng by introducing a simplified QuEChERS purification method. The core of this method is a novel composite material (PSA/WT@MeS) made by loading PSA and multi-walled carbon nanotubes onto a three-dimensional melamine sponge. This material effectively removes multiple interferents from complex ma…

- Metabolomics Reveals the Mechanism of American Ginseng in Alleviating Insulin Resistance by Reversing Metabolic Disorders in HepG2 Cells. [Journal Article]Biomed Chromatogr. 2026 May; 40(5):e70441.BC
- American ginseng (Panax quinquefolium L.) is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb that has been used in China for hundreds of years. The significant hypoglycemic activity of American ginseng has made it widely used in health food as a valuable medicinal herb with homologous origin. However, its effect and mechanism of improving insulin resistance (IR) remain unclear. In the present study, an IR-H…

- American Ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) Extracts (G1899) Ameliorate Immunosenescence via Regulation of T Cell Populations and Aging-Related Proteins in a Mouse Model Induced by D-Galactose and Tert-Butyl Hydroperoxide. [Journal Article]Curr Issues Mol Biol. 2026 Mar 16; 48(3).CI
- Immunosenescence is characterized by an age-associated decline in immune function, particularly involving T-cell dysfunction, which increases susceptibility to infections and chronic diseases. This study investigated the anti-aging and immunomodulatory effects of American ginseng extract (G1899) using in vitro and in vivo models of aging. Cellular senescence was induced in HepG2 cells by D-galact…

- Macroporous Resin-Based Adsorption Separation of Ginsenosides From American Ginseng Fibrous Roots: Process Optimization and Mechanistic Insights. [Journal Article]J Sep Sci. 2026 Mar; 49(3):e70384.JS
- American ginseng fibrous roots, often discarded as bioprocessing waste, constitute a valuable source of ginsenosides with high recovery potential. This study established a systematic strategy to enrich ginsenosides from the fibrous roots using macroporous adsorption resins and to investigate the adsorption mechanisms. Among the nine resins tested, the non-polar HPD100 resin, characterized by its …

- Multi-omics and compositional analysis of bidirectional solid fermentation products from Cordyceps militaris and Panax quinquefolius L. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates that co-culture of American ginseng with C. militaris enables bidirectional biotransformation: fungal enzymes convert ginsenosides into rare ginsenosides, while ginseng nutrients upregulate cordycepin biosynthesis. It offers a novel, eco-friendly approach for targeted transformation and enrichment of active ingredients.
