- Determinants of Pubertal Growth Spurt in Constitutional Delay of Growth and Puberty in Boys Treated With Testosterone. [Journal Article]R I Med J (2013). 2025 Nov 03; 108(11):32-36.RI
- CONCLUSIONS: At six months and one year after the last testosterone injection, the weight, BMI, growth velocity, IGF-1 concentrations and testosterone levels were higher than at baseline, and puberty progressed when compared to baseline. Testosterone levels six months after completion of testosterone cypionate were positively correlated with growth velocity confirming the effect of sex steroids in pubertal growth.
- Effect of 100 mg of testosterone cypionate in trans men with erythrocytosis: a randomized controlled pilot study. [Randomized Controlled Trial]J Sex Med. 2025 Nov 02; 22(11):2149-2153.JS
- CONCLUSIONS: Testosterone suspension appears to be more effective in reducing Hct than dose reduction when a decrease greater than 1% in Hct is desired. Nonetheless, dose reduction preserved therapeutic testosterone levels while offering additional benefits in blood pressure, anxiety, and body weight.

- Comparison of different testosterone formulations discontinuation and dose spacing on hematocrit and testosterone levels in transgender individuals with erythrocytosis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Discontinuation of testosterone undecanoate for 3 months in trans men undergoing GAHT-T who had developed erythrocytosis reduces hemoglobin and hematocrit levels without a significant reduction in testosterone levels. Dose spacing in fortnightly testosterone cypionate users was not effective to reduce hematocrit and hemoglobin.

- Histological ovarian features and hormonal determinations in assigned females at birth transgender individuals according to different testosterone preparations. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In a cohort of transmasculine individuals using different androgen preparations, histological analysis of ovarian tissue revealed comparable findings. Both groups exhibited similar follicular populations and comparable modifications in stromal tissue. However, significant differences were observed in hormonal profiles, although no modification in testosterone dosage was needed.

- Effects of a supraphysiological dose of testosterone cypionate on salivary gland function in adult male Wistar rats. [Journal Article]
- The abusive use of anabolic androgenic steroids has become a serious health problem worldwide, but its effects on oral health are still poorly understood. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of a supraphysiological dose of testosterone cypionate (TC) on salivary biochemical, histomorphology, immunohistochemistry, and redox state parameters of parotid and submandibul…

- Comparison of Hematocrit Change in Testosterone-deficient Men Treated With Intranasal Testosterone Gel vs Intramuscular Testosterone Cypionate: A Randomized Clinical Trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Intranasal testosterone gel does not appear to significantly affect hematocrit levels. Men who wish to avoid polycythemia or changes in estradiol or 17-hydroxyprogesterone levels may benefit from short-acting testosterone therapy formulations such as intranasal gel.

- Comparison of Outcomes for Hypogonadal Men Treated with Intramuscular Testosterone Cypionate versus Subcutaneous Testosterone Enanthate. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: While IM-TC and SCTE-AI provide a significant increase in TT levels, SCTE-AI is associated with lower levels of post-therapy HCT and E2 compared to IM-TC after adjusting for significant covariates. SCTE-AI is an effective testosterone delivery system with a potentially preferable safety profile over IM-TC.

- Therapeutic effects of β-caryophyllene on proliferative disorders and inflammation of the gerbil prostate. [Journal Article]Prostate. 2021 Sep; 81(12):812-824.P
- CONCLUSIONS: BCP impacts the tissue remodeling process in the premalignant prostate environment and that the use of this phytocannabinoid can have a promising effect in the handling of BPH.

- Virilizing doses of testosterone decrease circulating insulin levels and differentially regulate insulin signaling in liver and adipose tissue of females. [Journal Article]
- Transgender men undergoing hormone therapy are at risk for insulin resistance. However, how virilizing testosterone therapy affects serum insulin and peripheral insulin sensitivity in transgender men is unknown. This study assessed the effect of acute, virilizing testosterone on serum insulin concentrations and insulin signaling in liver, skeletal muscle, and white adipose tissue (WAT) of female …

- TRANSFORMER: A Randomized Phase II Study Comparing Bipolar Androgen Therapy Versus Enzalutamide in Asymptomatic Men With Castration-Resistant Metastatic Prostate Cancer. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: This randomized trial establishes meaningful clinical activity and safety of BAT and supports additional study to determine its optimal clinical integration. BAT can sensitize CRPC to subsequent antiandrogen therapy. Further study is required to confirm whether sequential therapy with BAT and enzalutamide can improve survival in men with CRPC.

- Androgen-Influenced Polarization of Activin A-Producing Macrophages Accompanies Post-pyelonephritic Renal Scarring. [Journal Article]
- Ascending bacterial pyelonephritis, a form of urinary tract infection (UTI) that can result in hospitalization, sepsis, and other complications, occurs in ~250,000 US patients annually; uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) cause a large majority of these infections. Although UTIs are primarily a disease of women, acute pyelonephritis in males is associated with increased mortality and morbidity,…

- TGFβ1 orchestrates renal fibrosis following Escherichia coli pyelonephritis. [Journal Article]
- Renal scarring after pyelonephritis is linked to long-term health risks for hypertension and chronic kidney disease. Androgen exposure increases susceptibility to, and severity of, uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) pyelonephritis and resultant scarring in both male and female mice, while anti-androgen therapy is protective against severe urinary tract infection (UTI) in these models. This wor…
