  • Adulteration Identification of Angelica Sinensis Radix Based on Molecular Matrix Characteristics. [Journal Article]
    Foods. 2025 Aug 27; 14(17).Zhang Y, Guo X, … Wei FF
  • Angelica sinensis radix (AS), the dried root of Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels, is widely used in Chinese medicine and food products. However, after conducting market research, at least a quarter of AS on the market is commonly adulterated by Levisticum officinale W. D. J. Koch (LO), Angelica acutiloba (Sieb. et Zucc.) Kitagawa (AA), and Angelica gigas Nakai (AG), to varying degrees, which signi…
  • Botanical Provenance of Traditional Medicines From Carpathian Mountains at the Ukrainian-Polish Border. [Review]
    Front Pharmacol. 2018; 9:295.Kozlowska W, Wagner C, … Komarnytsky SFP
  • Plants were an essential part of foraging for food and health, and for centuries remained the only medicines available to people from the remote mountain regions. Their correct botanical provenance is an essential basis for understanding the ethnic cultures, as well as for chemical identification of the novel bioactive molecules with therapeutic effects. This work describes the use of herbal medi…
  • Phthalides: Distribution in Nature, Chemical Reactivity, Synthesis, and Biological Activity. [Review]
    Prog Chem Org Nat Prod. 2017; 104:127-246.León A, Del-Ángel M, … Delgado GPC
  • Phthalides are a relatively small group of natural compounds confined to several plant families and some genera of fungi and liverworts. They are divided into two structural groups, the monomeric and dimeric phthalides, and known mainly as bioactive constituents of different plant species used traditionally for medicinal purposes in Asia, Europe, and North America. The first reports on the chemist…
  • [Comparison on content of ligustilides in different danggui samples]. [Journal Article]
Zhongguo Zhong Yao Za Zhi. 2013 Sep; 38(17):2838-43.Li X, Zhang LH, … Zhao ZZZZ
  • Bioactivity of Danggui is linked to the content of ligustilide, but the relationship between ligustilide with herb shape, cultivating areas and plant species is still unknown. The relationship was investigated by quantifying on the amounts of Z-ligustilide and E-ligustilide by HPLC-DAD-MS method, and then comparing the content of ligustilides (the sum of Z-ligustilide and E-ligustilide) among for…
  • A bioassay using Artemia salina for detecting phototoxicity of plant coumarins. [Journal Article]
    Planta Med. 1999 Dec; 65(8):715-8.Ojala T, Vuorela P, … Hiltunen RPM
  • Artemia salina (brine shrimp) has been successfully used for toxicity testing, and a screening test for phototoxicity has been developed based on this method. The ability of the method to test the phototoxic potential of seven known compounds was investigated. Athamantin (an angular furanocoumarin) and umbelliferone (a simple coumarin) showed no phototoxicity, while linear furanocoumarins exhibit…
  • [Phospholipid components of danggui]. [Journal Article]
Zhongguo Zhong Yao Za Zhi. 1991 Dec; 16(12):741-2, 763.Guo R, Lu J, Xu YZZ
  • This paper deals with the phospholipid components in Danggui (Angelica sinensis and Levisticum officinale) by using thin-layer chromatographic scanning and the corrective method of absorbance proportional coefficient. Seven known and two unknown phospholipid components were separated and determined. The authors have compared the composition of phospholipids for six Danggui samples.
