  • Pneumoconiosis complicated with pulmonary tuberculosis is characterized by high prevalence and disability rates, as well as difficulty in early diagnosis, constituting a serious public health problem. The Chinese Society of Tuberculosis (Chinese Medical Association) and the Society of Labor Hygiene and Occupational Diseases (Chinese Preventive Medicine Association) organized multidisciplinary exp…
  • [Patterns of resistance to anti-tuberculosis drugs among patients with rifampicin-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis in Yaoundé, Cameroon]. [Journal Article]
Med Trop Sante Int. 2026 Jun 30; 6(2).Kuaban A, Noeske J, Kuaban CMT
  • CONCLUSIONS: The majority of RR-PTB patients in Yaoundé had MDR-PTB, and pre-extensively drug-resistant TB was rare. However, the GeneXpert-based strategy for identifying drug-resistant cases (which detects only rifampicin resistance) could lead to the initiation of suboptimal treatment for a non-negligible proportion of patients in our setting. This could result in the amplification of resistance and the transmission of increasingly resistant strains within the community. We recommend that the National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTCP) of Cameroon should adopt and rapidly roll out the new short-course treatment regimen recommended by the World Health Organization given the lack of rapid tests in our country capable of detecting resistance to the various drugs used in the standard 9-11-month regimen.
  • [Multidimensional characterization of biofilm formation promoted by Mycobacterium tuberculosis Rv1904]. [Journal Article]
Sheng Wu Gong Cheng Xue Bao. 2026 Jul 25; 42(7):3217-3228.Ji Z, Yin L, … Chen XSW
  • Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tb), the causative agent of tuberculosis, forms biofilms that contribute significantly to enhanced drug resistance. This study aimed to investigate the role of Rv1904 in the biofilm formation of M. tb. Recombinant strains were constructed for both Mycobacterium smegmatis and M. tb, followed by systematic biological characterization in terms of colony morphology, bio…
  • Modern Trends in the Development of Natural and Synthetic Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs. [Journal Article]
Curr Pharm Des. 2026 Jul 25. [Online ahead of print]Calderon Guzman D, Juarez Olguin H, … Chavez Pacheco JLCP
  • Tuberculosis (TB) pathogenesis is driven by the rapid proliferation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacilli, which breach host defenses to invade pulmonary tissue and precipitate active disease. While both natural and synthetic compounds have contributed to successful Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) therapies, researchers should now prioritize harnessing the synergistic effects of complementary tr…
  • The Role of FGF1 in Chronic Liver Diseases. [Review]
    Biomedicines. 2026 Jun 24; 14(7).Liu T, Yu M, … Tan YB
  • Chronic liver disease (CLD) constitutes a major global health burden, with high morbidity and mortality, limited treatment options for several etiologies, and an urgent need for novel therapeutic targets. Fibroblast growth factor 1 (FGF1) is a unique member of the FGF family capable of binding all four FGFR subtypes, thereby regulating multiple signaling pathways including PI3K/AKT, Ras/MAPK, and…
