- Subcutaneous foslevodopa/foscarbidopa (LDp/CDp) in advanced Parkinson's disease (aPD): societal cost impact analysis for the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and Canada. [Journal Article]J Med Econ. 2026 Dec; 29(1):1230-1245.JM
- CONCLUSIONS: LDp/CDp has been shown to significantly improve OFF-time burden in patients with aPD, compared with BMT. Once the costs of professional and informal care are taken into account, the additional acquisition costs of LDp/CDp are more than offset, yielding a net societal saving.

- Postpartum Ischemic Stroke As the First Manifestation of Late-Onset Preeclampsia: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Mar; 18(3):e105545.C
- Preeclampsia is a severe pregnancy hypertensive disorder characterized by arterial hypertension and multiorgan involvement, most frequently affecting the renal, hepatic, and neurological systems. While its typical manifestations include headaches, visual disturbances, and/or epigastric pain, atypical presentations may occur and may lead to life-threatening complications. We report the case of a 3…

- Proactive Management of Gestational Hypertension in a Patient With Uterine Fibroids: A Case Report. [Journal Article]Clin Case Rep. 2026 Apr; 14(4):e72536.CC
- The coexistence of uterine fibroids and gestational hypertension (GH) presents a high-risk obstetric scenario associated with adverse maternal-fetal outcomes. We present the case of a 27-year-old primigravida diagnosed with a 22 × 28 mm anterior uterine fibroid at 8 weeks' gestation, which enlarged to 52 × 48 mm by 29 weeks. At 21 weeks' gestation, she developed new-onset GH (blood pressure 150/9…

- Infusion therapies for advanced Parkinson's disease: current evidence and practical challenges - a narrative review. [Review]Neurol Neurochir Pol. 2026; 60(2):153-168.NN
- Advanced Parkinson's disease (PD) is marked by motor fluctuations and dyskinesias that progressively lose responsiveness to optimized oral therapy, making continuous dopaminergic delivery an essential therapeutic strategy. This narrative review examines infusion-based treatments for advanced PD, focusing on their clinical rationale, efficacy, safety, and practical implementation. Currently availa…

- An Underrecognized Problem: Missed and Delayed Carbidopa-Levodopa Administration in Emergency Department Patients With Parkinson's Disease. [Journal Article]Acad Emerg Med. 2026 Apr; 33(4):e70269.AE
- CONCLUSIONS: Less than one-third of older adults with PD received their home antiparkinsonian medication in the ED, and fewer than 10% received it on time. Targeted interventions to ensure timely medication administration are needed to prevent iatrogenic harm in this vulnerable population.

- Effects of Antihypertensive Therapy on Pre- and Postnatal Maternal Hemodynamics. [Journal Article]Hypertension. 2026 Mar 20. [Online ahead of print]H
- CONCLUSIONS: Antihypertensive therapy does not influence cardiovascular impairment despite lowering blood pressure in preeclampsia. Novel therapeutic approaches are needed to improve maternal cardiovascular health after HDP.

- Presence of Emerging Contaminants in UK Honey─Human Pharmaceuticals a Concern for Honeybees? [Journal Article]J Agric Food Chem. 2026 Mar 06. [Online ahead of print]JA
- Emerging contaminants can accumulate in water, soils, and crops; however, little is known about the potential exposure to honeybees. Using samples collected surrounding arable farming in Great Britain and nontarget techniques, we identified 119 suspect chemicals in hives. On average, each hive contained 6.8 (±3.01) active ingredients, these included human pharmaceuticals (64%), industrial chemica…

- Consensus Molecules Associated with Parkinson's Disease. [Review]Neurol Int. 2026 Jan 27; 18(2).NI
- Parkinson's disease (PD) has been associated with some types of food and drugs. Here, we query PubMed for the association of PD with foods and drugs, using a list of 217,776 compounds derived from the Human Metabolome Database (HMDB). To calculate associations, a Python script was developed to query PubMed for co-citations of PD with each compound, and adjust this count for compound abundance. No…

- A Mysterious Case of Autoimmune Hepatitis Triggered by Herpes Zoster Virus Versus Drug-Induced Liver Injury. [Case Reports]
- Autoimmune hepatitis triggered by Herpes Zoster infection is a relatively rare condition and a diagnosis of exclusion, as there are other more common causes of autoimmune hepatitis. While evaluating a patient with suspected autoimmune hepatitis, common causes such as viral hepatitis, Epstein-Barr virus, and medications like amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, statins, nitrofurantoin and methyldopa must …

- Subcutaneous Levodopa in Parkinson's Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Subcutaneous infusion therapies produce a clinically and statistically significant reduction in the duration of OFF-time experienced by patients with Parkinson's disease, compared to oral levodopa/carbidopa. Patient experience is improved by a statistically, but not clinically, significant degree. There are increased adverse events, mostly related to the infusion site. Overall, subcutaneous infusion regimens could provide a meaningful alternative for Parkinson's disease patients who experience severe motor fluctuations with existing levodopa formulations.
