- Dermal substitutes in keloid surgery: A systematic review and analysis of 116 lesions. [Journal Article]Ann Chir Plast Esthet. 2026 May 07. [Online ahead of print]AC
- CONCLUSIONS: Dermal substitutes appear to be a promising adjunct in the surgical management of keloids, providing favorable aesthetic outcomes and low early recurrence rates. However, recurrence remains possible over long-term follow-up, and the independent effect of dermal matrices remains difficult to isolate due to frequent use of multimodal treatment protocols. Prospective studies with standardized surgical techniques and long-term follow-up are needed to better define the role of dermal substitutes in keloid surgery.

- Longitudinal three-dimensional photoacoustic imaging reveals hyperoxic perilesional microvasculature associated with keloid recurrence. [Journal Article]Photoacoustics. 2026 Jun; 49:100831.P
- Keloids undergo repeated cycles of regression and recurrence; however, vascular dynamics associated with recurrence remain poorly understood. In this prospective time-series study, we investigated microvascular changes in keloids using longitudinal three-dimensional photoacoustic imaging combined with ultrasonography. Adult patients with trunk or extremity keloids receiving intralesional triamcin…

- Progressive alopecia areata during TNF-α inhibition with intralesional corticosteroid failure and subsequent improvement following JAK1 inhibition. [Case Reports]J Dermatolog Treat. 2026 Dec; 37(1):2663647.JD
- CONCLUSIONS: Although spontaneous remission and delayed corticosteroid effects cannot be excluded, the timing and magnitude of improvement support a temporal association with JAK1 inhibition. This case highlights a pragmatic therapeutic consideration when alopecia arises during TNF-α inhibitor therapy.

- Therapeutic Outcomes of Aloe vera Gel Compared with Triamcinolone Acetonide in Minor Aphthous Stomatitis. [Randomized Controlled Trial]Niger J Clin Pract. 2026 Apr 01; 29(4):423-431.NJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Both triamcinolone acetonide and Aloe vera were effective in managing minor RAS. Triamcinolone provided faster recovery in males, whereas Aloe vera was equally effective overall.

- First Molecularly Confirmed Outbreak of Bovine Pythiosis Caused by Pythium insidiosum in the Amazon Biome. [Case Reports]Pathogens. 2026 Apr 09; 15(4).P
- Pythiosis is a neglected infectious disease caused by the aquatic oomycete Pythium insidiosum and remains underrecognized in cattle, particularly in tropical regions. Here, we report the first molecularly confirmed outbreak of bovine pythiosis in the Amazon biome, affecting more than 400 animals raised under extensive production systems and areas with prolonged exposure to standing water. Clinica…

- Q-Needle-Assisted Intraductal Injection Enhances Dacryoendoscopic Surgery for Primary Acquired Lacrimal Drainage Obstruction: A Retrospective Study. [Journal Article]J Clin Med. 2026 Apr 13; 15(8).JC
- Background/Objectives: Primary acquired lacrimal drainage obstruction (PALDO) is a common cause of epiphora. Although dacryoendoscopic recanalization (DER) is widely performed, its long-term success is limited by restenosis related to fibro-inflammatory processes. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a novel Q-needle for targeted intraductal delivery of antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory …

- The Effect of Corticosteroid Type on Failure Following Primary Trigger Finger Injection. [Journal Article]J Hand Surg Am. 2026 May 02. [Online ahead of print]JH
- CONCLUSIONS: For primary trigger fingers, patients treated with a betamethasone CSI were significantly more likely to undergo a repeat CSI or trigger finger release surgery within 1 year of the CSI compared with patients treated with a triamcinolone CSI (P < .05). Betamethasone CSIs resulted in a significantly shorter time to failure than triamcinolone CSIs (P < .05).

- Scar neuroma infiltration to treat post-surgical first bite syndrome. [Case Reports]Interv Pain Med. 2026 Jun; 5(2):100763.IP
- CONCLUSIONS: Scar neuroma infiltration was found to be a minimally invasive, efficient, and cost-effective treatment, and overall patient satisfaction was very high. To our knowledge, this is the first report using this therapy to treat FBS-related pain. The novel approach shows promise in a limited number of patients cases and warrants further investigation.

- Ertugliflozin decreases the insulin spike in non-insulin dysregulated standardbred horses following intra-articular triamcinolone administration. [Journal Article]Domest Anim Endocrinol. 2026 Apr 26; 96:107016. [Online ahead of print]DA
- Horses with equine metabolic syndrome (EMS) are at an increased risk of laminitis following corticosteroid use. Ertugliflozin reduces hyperinsulinemia in horses with EMS, and therefore may be a management option to reduce the insulin spike seen post corticosteroid use. It was hypothesised that oral ertugliflozin, administered before and after intra-articular (IA) triamcinolone acetonide (TA), wil…

- Polydopamine-coated triamcinolone acetonide acetate nanocrystals: prevention of postoperative peritoneal adhesion by combining anti-inflammation, oxidative stress scavenging and cytokine adsorption. [Journal Article]Nanoscale. 2026 Apr 27. [Online ahead of print]N
- Prevention of postoperative peritoneal adhesion (PA) remains inadequately addressed by current clinical practice due to difficulties in precise regulation of inflammation and elimination of peroxidation products. This study proposed a polydopamine-coated triamcinolone acetonide acetate nanocrystal (TAA@PDA) to prevent peritoneal adhesions via the collective effects of TAA and PDA through multiple…

- Atypical Cogan's Syndrome Presenting as Anterior Scleritis: Case Report. [Case Reports]Case Rep Ophthalmol. 2026; 17(1):371-379.CR
- CONCLUSIONS: Cogan's syndrome is a rare autoimmune vasculitis that can present with various ocular and auditory manifestations. While interstitial keratitis is classically described, anterior scleritis represents a less common but recognized presentation. This case underscores the importance of considering atypical Cogan's syndrome in patients with recurrent ocular inflammation and sensorineural hearing loss, whether occurring simultaneously or sequentially over extended periods. Early recognition of the unifying diagnosis and prompt escalation to biologic therapy when conventional immunosuppressants fail may prevent irreversible audiovestibular damage.

- CONCLUSIONS: Compared with ropivacaine alone, the addition of triamcinolone acetonide for ISI was associated with improved postoperative analgesia and reduced sufentanil consumption in adults who underwent craniotomy. Moreover, the combination was linked to a lower incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), with no reported severe AEs.
