  • Dermal substitutes in keloid surgery: A systematic review and analysis of 116 lesions. [Journal Article]
Ann Chir Plast Esthet. 2026 May 07. [Online ahead of print]Roche B, Châtelier G, … Delgove AAC
  • CONCLUSIONS: Dermal substitutes appear to be a promising adjunct in the surgical management of keloids, providing favorable aesthetic outcomes and low early recurrence rates. However, recurrence remains possible over long-term follow-up, and the independent effect of dermal matrices remains difficult to isolate due to frequent use of multimodal treatment protocols. Prospective studies with standardized surgical techniques and long-term follow-up are needed to better define the role of dermal substitutes in keloid surgery.
  • First Molecularly Confirmed Outbreak of Bovine Pythiosis Caused by Pythium insidiosum in the Amazon Biome. [Case Reports]
Pathogens. 2026 Apr 09; 15(4).Dos Santos JB, Oliveira HGDS, … Salvarani FMP
  • Pythiosis is a neglected infectious disease caused by the aquatic oomycete Pythium insidiosum and remains underrecognized in cattle, particularly in tropical regions. Here, we report the first molecularly confirmed outbreak of bovine pythiosis in the Amazon biome, affecting more than 400 animals raised under extensive production systems and areas with prolonged exposure to standing water. Clinica…
  • The Effect of Corticosteroid Type on Failure Following Primary Trigger Finger Injection. [Journal Article]
J Hand Surg Am. 2026 May 02. [Online ahead of print]Kistler JM, Adams JA, … Matzon JLJH
  • CONCLUSIONS: For primary trigger fingers, patients treated with a betamethasone CSI were significantly more likely to undergo a repeat CSI or trigger finger release surgery within 1 year of the CSI compared with patients treated with a triamcinolone CSI (P < .05). Betamethasone CSIs resulted in a significantly shorter time to failure than triamcinolone CSIs (P < .05).
  • Scar neuroma infiltration to treat post-surgical first bite syndrome. [Case Reports]
Interv Pain Med. 2026 Jun; 5(2):100763.Roldan CJ, Zhou Y, Chai TIP
  • CONCLUSIONS: Scar neuroma infiltration was found to be a minimally invasive, efficient, and cost-effective treatment, and overall patient satisfaction was very high. To our knowledge, this is the first report using this therapy to treat FBS-related pain. The novel approach shows promise in a limited number of patients cases and warrants further investigation.

  • CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the diagnostic complexity and the importance of a combined histopathological, immunohistochemical and clinical evaluation in rare xanthogranulomatous eyelid lesions.
  • Atypical Cogan's Syndrome Presenting as Anterior Scleritis: Case Report. [Case Reports]
    Case Rep Ophthalmol. 2026; 17(1):371-379.Mendes J, Mendes F, … Candeias ACR
  • CONCLUSIONS: Cogan's syndrome is a rare autoimmune vasculitis that can present with various ocular and auditory manifestations. While interstitial keratitis is classically described, anterior scleritis represents a less common but recognized presentation. This case underscores the importance of considering atypical Cogan's syndrome in patients with recurrent ocular inflammation and sensorineural hearing loss, whether occurring simultaneously or sequentially over extended periods. Early recognition of the unifying diagnosis and prompt escalation to biologic therapy when conventional immunosuppressants fail may prevent irreversible audiovestibular damage.
