- Toward Personalized Medicine: The Utility of Enthesis and Joint Ultrasound Examination in Defining the Phenotype of Patients with Acute Anterior Uveitis. [Journal Article]J Pers Med. 2026 May 31; 16(6).JP
- Background/Objectives: Patients with acute anterior uveitis (AAU) have a high prevalence of occult spondyloarthropathy (SpA). Only one previous study investigated ultrasonographic (US) changes at peripheral entheses and joints in patients with acute anterior uveitis (AAU) and no study has used these data in recognizing unknown SpA as defined by ASAS criteria. No previous study compared non-granul…

- Meniscal Root Repair With Centralization. [Journal Article]Video J Sports Med. 2026 May-Jun; 6(3):26350254261451037.VJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Transtibial meniscal root repair with centralization is a reproducible technique that restores meniscal function, minimizes extrusion, and delays the progression of osteoarthritis. The luggage-tag suture configuration mitigates suture cutout, and careful attention to centralization placement and tensioning optimizes outcomes. Postoperative rehabilitation should emphasize progressive weightbearing and strengthening, with return to sport typically achievable by 6 months. This approach provides durable symptom relief and joint preservation when applied to appropriately selected patients.

- Anatomy and Pathology of Anterior and Lateral Hip Compartments Bursae: An Ultrasound Structured Approach in Sports Medicine. [Review]Diagnostics (Basel). 2026 Jun 04; 16(11).D
- When assessing hip pain in athletes, it is important to focus on the extra-articular soft tissues that may clinically mimic joint pathology. One such extra-articular structure is the synovial bursa. Bursitis can clinically be misdiagnosed as joint-, tendon- or muscle-related pain. These pathological processes are a result of inflammation that is often secondary to acute trauma, overuse injuries, …

- [Minimally invasive cotton osteotomy : Surgical technique and functional outcomes]. [Review]
- The primary objective of the minimally invasive Cotton osteotomy is to correct sagittal malalignment of the medial column by targeted plantarflexion, thereby restoring alignment and contributing to the reconstruction of complex pes planovalgus deformities within a joint-preserving surgical approach.

- Cellular Products with Anti-Inflammatory Properties for the Treatment of Cartilage Lesions. [Review]Int J Mol Sci. 2026 May 12; 27(10).IJ
- Most high-tech drugs and tissue engineering products based on human chondrocytes currently available on the market are aimed at restoring traumatic damage to cartilage tissue. However, in the presence of inflammation, their regenerative potential is significantly reduced, which limits their use in patients with osteoarthritis-one of the most common degenerative and inflammatory joint pathologies.…

- RGFP966 inhibits activation of AIM2 inflammasomes to promote mitophagy to relieve acute gouty arthritis. [Journal Article]PLoS One. 2026; 21(5):e0348274.Plos
- Acute gouty arthritis (AGA) is a common inflammatory joint disease characterized by pain resulting from the deposition of monosodium urate (MSU) crystals into joints and surrounding tissues. RGFP966, a selective inhibitor of histone deacetylases 3 (HDAC3), can down-regulate the AIM2 inflammasomes. This study aimed to explore the mechanism of action of RGFP966 in MSU-induced AGA. MSU-induced AGA r…

- Brucine-loaded hydrogel microneedles for sustained anti-inflammatory therapy in rheumatoid arthritis: programmable drug release and detachable design. [Journal Article]
- This study aimed to develop a brucine (Bru) hydrogel-forming microneedle (Bru-HFM) delivery system that could achieve long-term, programmed drug release, through adjusting degree of cross-linking in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/carbomer 934P (CP) hydrogel. A one-way orthogonal experiment and a Franz diffusion cell were employed to optimize the preparation process. The resulting Bru-HFM exhibited favor…

- Enhancing the precision of clinical assessment in juvenile idiopathic arthritis through the JADAS. [Review]Pediatr Rheumatol Online J. 2026 May 06. [Online ahead of print]PR
- The use of composite disease activity scores enables a pragmatic approach to the measurement of the level of disease activity in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). These tools are constructed through the combination of individual measures and provide a quantification of the absolute level of disease activity in one summary number on a continuous scale. The first composite score fo…

- A late bearing insert dislocation was associated with new-onset rheumatoid arthritis after unicompartmental knee arthroplasty: a rare case report. [Journal Article]
- BACKGROUND: Bearing dislocation is a unique complication of mobile-bearing unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA), with diverse underlying mechanisms. This article reports a rare mechanism of bearing dislocation following mobile-bearing UKA, which was probably associated with the new-onset rheumatoid arthritis (RA) leading to anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) insufficiency—aiming to highlight th…

- Total Hip Arthroplasty for Untreated Acetabular Fractures: A Case Series. [Journal Article]Case Rep Orthop. 2026; 2026:2582466.CR
- CONCLUSIONS: Untreated acetabular fractures managed with total hip arthroplasty prevent post-traumatic arthritis and osteonecrosis of the hip. Segmental acetabular defects and chronic hip dislocations present in these cases can be managed with acetabular augments and dual mobility cups. When these injuries present in the young, femoral short stems can be used to preserve the femoral neck and maximize the proximal metaphyseal bone stock.

- Machine Learning-Based Identification of Molecular Signatures in PTOA Cell Subtypes via Single-Cell Transcriptomics in a Mouse Model. [Journal Article]
- OBJECTIVES: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most prevalent joint disorder, whereas post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) denotes a form of arthritis that arises secondary to acute joint injury. METHODS: This was a combined bioinformatics and experimental validation study. We first analyzed single-cell RNA sequencing data (GSE200843) from murine knee joints following anterior cruciate ligament rupture t…

- Gout is among the most prevalent etiologies of chronic inflammatory arthritis in the United States, which is characterized by monosodium urate (MSU) monohydrate crystals deposition in the tissues.[1][2] Gout was first recognized even before the common era. Hence it is arguably the most understood and manageable disease among all rheumatic diseases.[3][4]

A cross-sectional, prospective study was done on post Covid-19 patients at a tertiary centre in Telangana. This study included a total of 139 RT-PCR-confirmed Covid-19 patients, who were diagnosed with arthritis in the time interval between 1 to 6 months post Covid recovery. Demographic data, clinic…
- Periprosthetic Joint Infection in Total Ankle Arthroplasty: An Exploratory Analysis of Outcomes and Challenges Persisting in Treatment. [Journal Article]Foot Ankle Int. 2026 May; 47(5):612-620.FA
- CONCLUSIONS: Debridement, antibiotics, and implant retention (DAIR) appears to be a viable option for acute PJI treatment. However, DAIR and explant with staged revision may be insufficient for complete eradication of chronic PJI. Infection recurrence may result in permanent loss of function because of limited secondary treatment options after failed revision.
