- Measuring the composition and availability of human resources for health by sex in 204 countries and territories, 1990-2023, and workforce gaps for universal health coverage: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023. [Journal Article]Lancet Public Health. 2026 Sep; 11(9):e604-e629.LP
- CONCLUSIONS: The global health workforce has expanded substantially since 1990, largely due to women entering the formal health workforce. However, this expansion has been uneven across regions and persistent shortfalls remain in doctors, nurses and midwives, dentists, and pharmacists relative to moderate UHC attainment. Addressing these gaps will require expansion of training capacity, retention and remuneration policies for early-career workers, and gender-responsive workforce arrangements.

- Elevated Histamine Receptor 2 and Toll-Like Receptor 7 Expression in Rheumatoid Arthritis: Insights Into Inflammatory Mechanisms and Potential Therapeutic Strategies. [Journal Article]Int J Rheum Dis. 2026 Aug; 29(8):e70803.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggests a potential link between H2R signaling and TLR7 activation in RA. The therapeutic potential of H2R inhibitors and TLR7 antagonists in mitigating RA progression warrants further investigation.

- Modulating the gut-joint axis: Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis B8762 is associated with selective gut microbial and metabolic alterations in knee osteoarthritis. [Journal Article]
- Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a debilitating degenerative joint disorder characterized by chronic low-grade inflammation and metabolic dysregulation. The gut microbiota has emerged as an important regulator of systemic inflammatory responses. Building upon our previous clinical findings that Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis B8762 (B8762) improved clinical symptoms and inflammatory markers in…

- Reappraisal of the Entity of Pediatric Uveitis: Bilateral Iridocyclitis With Retinal Capillaritis (BIRC) in Juveniles in 18 Additional Cases. [Journal Article]Cureus. 2026 Jul; 18(7):e112232.C
- CONCLUSIONS: BIRC in juveniles should be included in the differential diagnosis for school-age children and young adolescents. BIRC follows a chronic course of a few years and subsides completely with a good prognosis. In cases of macular edema or optic disc edema that affects vision, oral corticosteroid treatment is recommended, whereas patients with no sight-threatening signs can be treated with topical corticosteroid eye drops alone. The entity of BIRC may be distinct from juvenile chronic iridocyclitis in young girls with onset at preschool age, which shares common features with juvenile idiopathic arthritis-associated uveitis.

- Longitudinal Neuroimaging in Pediatric Coccidioidomycosis: Full Spectrum of Brain, Spine and Head and Neck Findings. [Journal Article]AJNR Am J Neuroradiol. 2026 Jul 30. [Online ahead of print]AA
- Coccidioidomycosis is an endemic mycosis in some regions of the Americas including the southwestern United States with recognized potential for extra-pulmonary dissemination. Nevertheless, its neuroradiologic spectrum in children, particularly with respect to longitudinal evolution and head and neck involvement, remains incompletely characterized. We retrospectively reviewed n=16 pediatric patien…

- The Effect of Mobilization With Movement Techniques on Pain and Range of Elbow Extension in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, a Case Report. [Journal Article]Clin Case Rep. 2026 Aug; 14(8):e73244.CC
- Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is one of the most prevalent chronic childhood inflammatory diseases. Patients with JIA often present with morning stiffness, swelling, pain, muscle weakness, and muscle atrophy around the affected joints and activity limitations. Fear of exercises results in functional limitations. High-dose corticosteroids provide good effects in the short term but have no lo…

- Targeting the NOX4/NLRP inflammasome axis confers protection by isoliquiritigenin against H2O2-induced synovial inflammation. [Journal Article]Chem Biol Interact. 2026 Sep 01; 437:112267.CB
- Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by persistent synovial inflammation and progressive joint destruction. Fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) play a central role in RA pathogenesis by promoting inflammatory signaling and extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation. Although isoliquiritigenin (ISL) exhibits anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities, its direct mol…

- Platelet-Rich Plasma in Chronic Joint Pain: An Autologous Alternative to Steroids. [Review]
- Chronic joint pain, most caused by osteoarthritis, is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. When conservative management fails, interventional therapies are introduced, with corticosteroid injections being one of the most utilized. However, its clinical utility is limited by its short-term efficacy and by potential structural adverse effects. Platelet-rich plasma has emerged as a com…

- Implantable Shock Absorber for Knee Osteoarthritis in Older Patients: Evidence From Two Clinical Studies. [Journal Article]Cureus. 2026 Jul; 18(7):e112880.C
- Background Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a common, chronic condition associated with significant pain and functional limitations. Patients who receive inadequate relief from conservative care and are not indicated for or are unwilling to undergo arthroplasty procedures have previously faced a significant treatment gap. To address this, we examined the implantable shock absorber (ISA) in a cohort of…

- Concurrent psoriatic arthritis and autoimmune hepatitis in a patient with psoriasis: a case report. [Journal Article]J Med Case Rep. 2026 Jul 20. [Online ahead of print]JM
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the importance of considering autoimmune hepatitis in patients with psoriatic disease who develop persistent liver enzyme abnormalities, even in the absence of prior systemic immunosuppressive therapy. A multidisciplinary approach is important in such complex presentations, and cyclosporine may be a useful therapeutic option in selected patients requiring concomitant control of dermatologic, rheumatologic, and hepatic disease.

- CONCLUSIONS: The results showed that THP had significant dose-dependent anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic, antioxidant and analgesic effects, suggesting that it could be a safe therapy for inflammatory and arthritic diseases, as it showed an LD50 > 2000mg/kg.

- Shared germline-biased plasmablast clonotypes shape early neutralizing antibody responses during acute Chikungunya virus infection. [Journal Article]
- Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infection causes acute febrile illness and severe joint inflammation, with some patients progressing to chronic arthritis. Early isotype-switched neutralizing antibody (nAb) responses have been associated with protection from chronic arthritis, but the cellular and molecular features of these early responses remain poorly defined.

- Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect the axial skeleton as well as the joints and enthesis. Following the failure of conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), numerous biological DMARDs (b-DMARDs) or targeted synthetic DMARDs are now available, although current guidelines do not recommend a specific mode of action in the absence of com…

- Rice body synovitis of the shoulder joint: a case report and review of clinical management and pathology. [Case Reports]Front Surg. 2026; 13:1770970.FS
- CONCLUSIONS: This single case suggests that RA-associated rice body synovitis should be considered when patients with chronic inflammatory arthritis present with persistent shoulder swelling and typical MRI findings. Arthroscopy can be diagnostically and therapeutically useful, but favorable short-term outcomes cannot be generalized from one case. Long-term follow-up and optimized RA/DMARD management remain necessary to reduce recurrence risk.
