- CONCLUSIONS: Schistosomiasis was not reported in 26 LGAs of Akwa Ibom. Soil-transmitted helminths had a significant reduction in prevalence, but with varying prevalence across the states. There is a need for sustained preventive chemotherapy against STH in the State. Improvement in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) infrastructures to create behavioural change, and strengthen the control efforts.

- CONCLUSIONS: The species predictive map generated in this study can identify bioclimatic variables associated with the high prevalence of A. lumbricoides. Since extensive parasitological surveys can be costly and time-consuming, predictions on A. lumbricoides distribution can fill the gap in areas lacking data. Consequently, a detailed understanding of the distribution of A. lumbricoides will assist in identifying high-risk areas for effective public health intervention, especially in underfunded regions in the Philippines.

- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest higher testosterone may increase the risk of becoming infected with some parasite species, but that heavy pathogen loads lead to a shift in resource allocation from testosterone production to immune activity during a life stage with high testosterone-related energetic demands. While some results aligned with the ICHH, the significant effects of participant age and parasite species on testosterone-infection associations indicate that the ICHH does not completely capture the full complexity of human immune-related life history tradeoffs and variation in host-parasite interactions.

- CONCLUSIONS: A high prevalence of intestinal parasitic infections (IPIs) was reported in West Badawacho Woreda in preschool children, indicating a significant public health problem in the region. Poor hygiene and unsafe water sources, open defecation, and zoonotic exposure were among the factors that were identified as key factors in infection, while greater maternal education was protective. This burden can be mitigated by increasing the capacity and outreach of community health education, upgrading sanitation facilities, increasing the availability of potable water and raising awareness about personal hygiene. Importantly, this study has important community-level information regarding IPIs in preschool children in West Badawacho Woreda for future interventions and planning policies.
