- Eosinophil-rich sterile fluid collection after calcium phosphate cement use in cranial reconstruction: A case suggesting implant-associated inflammatory reaction. [Case Reports]Surg Neurol Int. 2026; 17:256.SN
- CONCLUSIONS: Eosinophil-rich, culture-negative fluid collection after CPC use may represent a self-limited implant-associated inflammatory reaction. Recognition of this pattern may support conservative management when infection and CSF leakage are unlikely.

- Interhospital transfer dynamics in foreign body aspiration: Age-stratified nationwide retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]Turk Gogus Kalp Damar Cerrahisi Derg. 2026 Jun 01. [Online ahead of print]TG
- CONCLUSIONS: Age groups have a significant impact on the type and distance of interhospital transfers in FBA cases. In contrast, the timing of transfer and mode of transportation do not differ significantly by age.

- Clinical analysis of tracheobronchial foreign body aspiration in children aged six years and older. [Journal Article]BMC Pediatr. 2026 May 30. [Online ahead of print]BPed
- CONCLUSIONS: FBA in school-age children demonstrates distinct clinical characteristics, with non-food foreign bodies such as pen caps being predominant. Low-dose CT plays an important diagnostic role, while rigid bronchoscopy remains the primary treatment for central airway foreign bodies, and flexible bronchoscopy is useful for distal airway involvement. A structured algorithmic approach may facilitate timely diagnosis and appropriate intervention.

- Not All PET-Avid Endobronchial Lesions Are Malignant: A Case of Chronic Foreign Body Aspiration. [Case Reports]Reports (MDPI). 2026 Apr 26; 9(2).R
- CONCLUSIONS: Clinicians should maintain a broad differential diagnosis when evaluating PET-avid endobronchial lesions, especially in elderly patients.

- Re-Evaluating Anatomical Determinants of Foreign Body Aspiration in Adults. [Journal Article]J Clin Med. 2026 May 19; 15(10).JC
- Objectives: Tracheobronchial foreign-body aspiration is a clinically significant condition in adults. Although classical teaching attributes the right-sided predominance to the steeper, shorter, and wider morphology of the right main bronchus, this explanation has not been empirically validated in patients with confirmed foreign-body aspiration. Methods: This retrospective study included adult pa…

- Integration of 2D and 3D Imaging Descriptors with Large Language Models for Assessing Pediatric Foreign-Body Aspiration Risk. [Journal Article]Children (Basel). 2026 May 16; 13(5).C
- Background/Objectives: Foreign-body aspiration (FBA) is a common and largely preventable pediatric emergency, yet current safety standards and risk assessments rely predominantly on object size and on anecdotal descriptions and bronchoscopy findings. We propose a clinically oriented proof-of-concept workflow that combines high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) scanning and calibrated two-dimensio…

- Pediatric pulmonologists' current practices and variations in flexible bronchoscopy: a national survey study from Türkiye. [Multicenter Study]Turk J Pediatr. 2026 Apr 30; 68(2):261-276.TJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This first comprehensive national survey of pediatric FB practices in Türkiye, encompassing all relevant centers, revealed significant heterogeneity in procedural approaches, particularly regarding sedation protocols, BAL techniques, and interventional capabilities. The findings underscore the importance of developing interventional procedures and enhancing the training of pediatric pulmonologists and interdisciplinary teams practicing pediatric bronchoscopy to improve patient outcomes and procedural consistency.

- Actinomyces graevenitzii Detected in a Case of Endobronchial Actinomycosis Caused by Foreign Body Aspiration: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e107305.C
- Pulmonary actinomycosis is a chronic respiratory infection caused by Actinomyces. Actinomyces graevenitzii is a rare species of Actinomyces with rare cases of infections. Herein, we report a case of endobronchial actinomycosis due to foreign-body aspiration in which A . graevenitzii was identified. The patient was a 48-year-old woman with a prior history of childhood asthma. She presented with a …

- Anesthesiological Management of a Sewing Needle Impacted in the Larynx in an Adult: A Case Report. [Journal Article]Clin Case Rep. 2026 May; 14:e72709.CC
- The anesthesiological management of a sharp object in the upper airway is highly challenging due to the shared high-risk anatomy. Thorough preparation, including CT scan and fiberoptic assessment, combined with interdisciplinary planning among surgeons, anesthesiologists, and intensive care specialists, enables a structured approach that anticipates complications and ensures safe patient care.

- Artificial Intelligence in Pediatric Bronchoscopy: Current Evidence and Future Perspectives. [Review]Pediatr Pulmonol. 2026 May; 61(5):e71668.PP
- CONCLUSIONS: AI in pediatric bronchoscopy is at an early stage, with most evidence extrapolated from adult practice. Available data suggest potential to improve diagnostic accuracy, safety, and training efficiency. Progress will require multi-center pediatric data collaboration, prospective trials, and workflow integration.

- Airway Foreign Bodies. [Review]Otolaryngol Clin North Am. 2026 May 14. [Online ahead of print]OC
- Pediatric airway foreign bodies are common and potentially life-threatening situations. Ingestion of organic material in children under 3 is the most common clinical situation. Typical cases have a history suspicious for a sudden aspiration event supported by physical findings of wheezing or diminished breath sounds with radiological evidence of air-trapping. Rigid bronchoscopy remains the gold s…

- Radiological manifestations of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis in adult asthmatic patients. [Journal Article]Monaldi Arch Chest Dis. 2026 May 07. [Online ahead of print]MA
- Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) develops in patients through type I or type III hypersensitivity reactions to the filamentous fungi Aspergillus. There is a wide spectrum of radiological presentations of ABPA, including fleeting alveolar opacities, centrilobular nodules, bronchiectasis, mucoid impaction resulting in bronchocele, cavitation, and pulmonary fibrosis. This study aims to…
