- Impact of a comprehensive healthy lifestyle and genetic risk on arrhythmia: insights from the UK biobank study. [Journal Article]BMC Cardiovasc Disord. 2026 Jun 19. [Online ahead of print]BC
- CONCLUSIONS: In this large population-based cohort, adherence to a healthier lifestyle was associated with modestly lower risks of overall arrhythmia and atrial fibrillation. The association with bradyarrhythmia was weaker and appeared non-monotonic. These observational findings require confirmation in randomized lifestyle-intervention studies before causal inference.

- Exploring the Association Between Mental Disorders and Various Arrhythmias via Mendelian Randomization Methods. [Journal Article]Genes Brain Behav. 2026 Jun; 25(3):e70058.GB
- Major depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia are common mental illnesses, and their potential association with arrhythmias has long been a focus of clinical and research interest. To explore the possible causal relationship between these mental disorders and arrhythmias, we conducted a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis using publicly available GWAS summary st…

- Ratio of Left Atrial and Ventricular Volume as New Marker of Atrial Cardiopathy and Stroke Risk. [Journal Article]Stroke. 2026 Jun 18. [Online ahead of print]S
- CONCLUSIONS: We provide evidence that LA:LV ratio is a strong, novel marker of atrial cardiopathy. Hence, LA:LV ratio has the potential to improve the diagnosis of atrial cardiopathy, facilitating the prophylaxis of ischemic stroke and maintaining brain health.

- A rare giant asymptomatic biatrial myxoma. [Journal Article]J Cardiothorac Surg. 2026 Jun 17. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Biatrial myxoma is extremely rare and sometimes can be challenging to diagnose. Currently, there are no guidelines or consensus statements regarding the best diagnostic methods. Based on our case, we suggest that computed tomography (CT) and cardiac CTA can provide sufficient details about diagnostic value in cases where transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) fails to provide a clear diagnosis. Surgery is mandatory once cardiac myxoma is diagnosed. In cases of giant cardiac myxomas involving the IVC and the LA, careful preoperative planning is required, including venous cannulation for CPB and reconstruction of cardiac structures after complete tumor excision.

- Predictive value of peak left atrial reservoir strain combined with left atrial appendage flow velocity for atrial fibrillation recurrence after pulsed field ablation. [Journal Article]BMC Cardiovasc Disord. 2026 Jun 17. [Online ahead of print]BC
- CONCLUSIONS: LASr and LAAV were independent predictors of AF recurrence after PFA, and their combination provided incremental predictive value beyond conventional clinical factors. Risk stratification based on LASr ≤ 22.3% and LAAV ≤ 45.2 cm/s may be used for preprocedural risk communication and assessment of postprocedural follow-up intensity; however, whether this approach can guide changes in ablation strategy and improve outcomes requires validation in prospective studies.

- Assessing modifiable risk factors for atrial fibrillation/flutter in the young: a hybrid local-global study. [Journal Article]Front Endocrinol (Lausanne). 2026; 17:1806013.FE
- CONCLUSIONS: The global burden of AF/AFL in the young adult population has increased over the past 30 years. High blood pressure, high BMI, smoking, and alcohol consumption are key modifiable contributors to the increased AF/AFL burden in young adults. Enhanced awareness, targeted screening, and proactive clinical management of these risk factors are critical for mitigating the AF/AFL burden in this demographic.

- Prevalence of left atrial appendage thrombi and associated risks in patients referred for atrial flutter ablation. [Journal Article]Rev Port Cardiol. 2026 Jun 12. [Online ahead of print]RP
- CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of LAA thrombus was higher than previously reported in similar populations. The newly developed clinical score showed improved discriminative performance relative to the CHA2DS2-VASc score and may help identify high-risk patients who could benefit from pre-ablation TEE in the context of AFL.

- Raghib Syndrome Physiology Revealed by Multimodality Cardiac Imaging. [Case Reports]JACC Case Rep. 2026 Jun 12; :108809. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Diagnosis of Raghib syndrome relies on multimodality imaging. In cases with minimal symptoms and left-to-right shunting, conservative management with biannual follow-up may be sufficient.Multimodality imaging is crucial in confirming anatomy and characterizing flow dynamics in cyanotic congenital heart disease. In patients with Raghib syndrome without cyanosis, conservative management with anticoagulation may be a safe alternative to surgical intervention.

- Right Atrial Dimension Is Related to Bidirectional Block Parameters After Cavotricuspid Isthmus Ablation in Patients with Typical Atrial Flutter. [Journal Article]J Clin Med. 2026 May 22; 15(11).JC
- Background: There is insufficient data in the literature regarding the relationship between bidirectional conduction block (BCB) parameters and right atrial dimension (RAd). In our study, we aimed to evaluate the relationship between RAd and BCB parameters in typical atrial flutter (AFL) patients. Methods: This prospective study included 197 patients who underwent successful RFA with a diagnosis …

- Bundibugyo virus disease (BVD) remains a high-consequence threat in Eastern and Central Africa, where cross-border mobility, nonspecific early symptoms, and delayed recognition can obscure transmission. In this case report, we describe Uganda's 2026 BVD index case: a male patient who traveled from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Uganda and was admitted to a private hospital in Kampala on …
