- Neurovascular decoupling is associated with altered glymphatic function as assessed by the DTI-ALPS index in patients on dialysis. [Journal Article]Brain Imaging Behav. 2026 May 09; 20(3).BI
- Neurovascular coupling (NVC) reflects the coordination between brain activity and cerebral blood flow, while glymphatic function indicates the capacity to clear metabolic waste from the brain. However, differences in these two factors between patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD) and hemodialysis (HD), as well as their interrelationship, remain unclear. Functional magnetic resonance imaging, three…

- Hyperventilation-Induced High-Amplitude Rhythmic Slowing and Its Impact on Migraine Frequency in Children: A Retrospective Observational Cohort Study. [Journal Article]Iran J Child Neurol. 2026; 20(2):39-43.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This is the first study on the correlation of HIHARS with migraine in children. Patients aged 7 to 12 years old with HIHARS had more susceptibility to migraine headaches. It is suggested that children with HIHARS and a history of migraine in first-degree family members will be more susceptible to developing migraine in life.

- Studies of chitosan-Prussian blue nanozyme in auditory protection: from cellular mechanisms to in vivo validation. [Journal Article]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1758392.FI
- Oxidative stress and inflammation are interconnected drivers of cellular damage in pathologies ranging from neurodegenerative disorders to sensorineural hearing loss. We aimed to develop a chitosan-Prussian blue nanozyme (CS-PB) to target these processes in sensorineural hearing loss. CS-PB (35 μg/mL) pretreatment of H2O2-injured HEI-OC1 cochlear cells for 4 h markedly decreased the levels of rea…

- Understanding maternal pain and psychological vulnerabilities associated with the development of sub-acute pain after childbirth. [Journal Article]BMC Anesthesiol. 2026 May 07. [Online ahead of print]BA
- CONCLUSIONS: Our center's multivariable model demonstrates moderate predictive performance and may inform the future development and refinement of predictive tools to identify patients at increased risk of SAPC, thereby supporting more timely monitoring and early interventions for postpartum pain management.

- Association between stress hyperglycemia ratio and in-hospital mortality in acute myocardial infarction: a dose-response meta-analysis. [Journal Article]BMC Cardiovasc Disord. 2026 May 06. [Online ahead of print]BC
- CONCLUSIONS: In patients with AMI, an elevated SHR is consistently and non-linearly associated with a higher risk of in-hospital mortality. These findings suggest that SHR may serve as a valuable prognostic tool for early risk stratification, although further prospective studies are needed to confirm its clinical utility.

- Acute spinal cord injury caused by high-voltage electrical burn requiring a multidisciplinary approach in a resource-limited setting: A case report. [Case Reports]Trauma Case Rep. 2026 Apr; 62:101347.TC
- CONCLUSIONS: High-voltage electrical burn injuries are serious problems causing variable degrees and types of neurologic impairments. Acute spinal cord injuries are among the less commonly reported problems. Given the limited effective treatment options for neurologic complications, appropriate preventive measures, multidisciplinary management, and long-term neurologic follow-up are important.

- The Tracy Technique: A Systems-Based Paradigm Shift in Upper Face Neurotoxin Treatment. [Case Reports]J Cosmet Dermatol. 2026 May; 25(5):e70867.JC
- CONCLUSIONS: The Tracy Technique reframes upper face neurotoxin treatment as a dynamic force balancing system. By treating both elevator and depressor muscles simultaneously, it optimizes aesthetic results and may establish a foundation for future evidence-based refinement.

- Mandibular Marginal Osteomyelitis Secondary to Second Molar Pericoronitis in a Pediatric Patient. [Journal Article]J Craniofac Surg. 2026 May 04. [Online ahead of print]JC
- Pediatric osteomyelitis of the jaw is predominantly non-odontogenic in origin, typically arising from hematogenous spread. This case report presents a rare case of mandibular marginal osteomyelitis secondary to second molar pericoronitis in a child, clinically manifesting as facial swelling, induration, and trismus. The pediatric patient was treated with a combined regimen of systemic antimicrobi…

- Does sonographic visual biofeedback before or during the second stage of labor improve outcomes? A meta-analysis. [Review]Int J Gynaecol Obstet. 2026 May 04. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Visual feedback might influence maternal pushing behavior and enhance pushing efficacy, potentially reducing obstetrical interventions such as episiotomies. Additional prospective randomized studies are needed to definitively determine the effect of visual biofeedback on a wide range of obstetric outcomes. Such research could help refine the use of this technique and potentially improve the labor experience and outcomes for many women. The study protocol can be assessed at the PROSPERO International prospective register of systematic reviews (www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO, registration number CRD42024570484).

- Research progress on social participation of young and middle-aged stroke survivors: a narrative review. [Review]Front Psychiatry. 2026; 17:1775209.FP
- Stroke is characterized by high morbidity, disability, and mortality, and has become the third leading cause of death worldwide. In China, stroke accounts for 39.9% of all cerebrovascular diseases, with young and middle-aged survivors (aged 40-60 years) comprising 33% of global stroke survivors in this age group and over 51.51% of all stroke cases in China. Despite significant improvements in tre…

- Anxiety among Chinese primary school teachers under the "double reduction" policy: prevalence and associated factors. [Journal Article]Front Psychiatry. 2026; 17:1792092.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: Anxiety was prevalent among primary school teachers during the implementation of the "Double Reduction" Policy. Higher education level, income dissatisfaction, intermediate professional title, younger age, and elevated perceived stress were significant risk factors for anxiety. Therefore, interventions focusing on stress management and occupational support may help improve teachers' mental well-being.

- DSH_YOLO enables factory farming production: a method for detecting and grading the cumulative internode length of tomato seedlings. [Journal Article]Front Plant Sci. 2026; 17:1815103.FP
- The industrial cultivation of tomato seedlings requires a high degree ofuniformity and consistency in grading. However, traditional grading methods based on phenotypictraits such as leaf area and canopy width are susceptible to environmental conditions, therebylimiting the accuracy and efficiency of grading. Since cumulative internode length is relativelystable and closely correlated with seedlin…

- Attention and executive functioning in pediatric congenital heart disease: a construct-based approach. [Journal Article]J Clin Exp Neuropsychol. 2026 May 04; :1-16. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Children with CHD had attention/EF deficits across multiple constructs (i.e. skill areas), although frequency and severity of impairment varied by construct. This suggests children with CHD have a neurobehavioral profile that may not fully align with traditional diagnostic categories, which has implications both for diagnosis and intervention. Greater difficulties observed in children with simple CHD emphasize the importance of neurodevelopmental monitoring of all CHD types. Neurodevelopmental diagnosis was associated with lower processing speed, but this skill is not a core diagnostic feature of a neurodevelopmental disorder. Thus, consideration of dimensional diagnostic approaches within a clinical patient population such as CHD is warranted.
