- Myonecrosis Masquerading at an Unusual Site: A Diagnostic Dilemma. [Case Reports]AACE Endocrinol Diabetes. 2026 May-Jun; 13(3):413-417.AE
- CONCLUSIONS: Diabetic myonecrosis is an uncommon but serious complication of diabetes mellitus that requires high clinical suspicion for making the diagnosis. Clinicians should also be vigilant of the atypical sites of presentation and the high chances of recurrence and the long-term mortality seen in such patients.

- Hemodynamic assessment in patients with lower limb varicose veins should be performed with the patient standing, the limb examined in a non-weight-bearing position, and reflux elicited by appropriate provocative maneuvers. Duplex ultrasound is used to identify reflux and localize the anatomical reflux pathways, with attention to pelvic and nonsaphenous venous pathways. Quantitative parameters, in…

- Bridging the Diagnostic Gap in Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD): Leveraging Fatty Acid Binding Protein 3 (FABP3) for Biomarker-Guided Detection. [Journal Article]Diagnostics (Basel). 2026 May 11; 16(10).D
- Background/Objective: Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a widespread but underdiagnosed manifestation of systemic atherosclerosis, associated with high morbidity and mortality. Traditional diagnostic methods such as the ankle-brachial index (ABI) have limited sensitivity in certain populations, highlighting the need for reliable blood-based biomarkers. Fatty Acid Binding Protein 3 (FABP3) has …

- Evaluation of muscle strength and renal function in survivors of severe COVID-19: A 12-month follow-up study. [Journal Article]J Crit Care Med (Targu Mures). 2026 Apr; 12(2):167-175.JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Critically ill COVID-19 survivors experienced significant declines in kidney function, muscle strength, and functional capacity, alongside increased pain 12 months post-ICU discharge. These results underscore the need for multidisciplinary follow-up, incorporating nephrology, physiotherapy, and nutritional support.

- Physiotherapy Protocol for Postoperative Intraosseous Rosai-Dorfman Disease of the Distal Femur: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e107224.C
- Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) is a rare, benign, non-neoplastic histiocytic proliferative disorder. Involvement of the distal femur with intra-articular extension is uncommon and can pose diagnostic challenges. Physiotherapy plays a critical role in postoperative recovery; however, structured rehabilitation guidelines for such cases remain limited in the literature. This case report describes a rar…

- Rare Diabetic Complications: A Case of Diabetic Myonecrosis. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e107141.C
- Diabetic myonecrosis, also referred to as diabetic muscle infarction, is a rare complication of uncontrolled diabetes that is characterized by spontaneous ischemia of muscle tissues, which can lead to severe pain. This condition can occur in type 1 and type 2 diabetics, most often involving the thigh or calf muscles, with the majority of literature being case reports with a few systematic reviews…

- CONCLUSIONS: After attempted nonoperative intervention, bilateral 4-compartment fasciotomy utilizing the technique demonstrated is an effective surgical option for adolescent females with CECS. Given the conflicting literature on sex-based outcomes, further prospective, sex-inclusive research is warranted to clarify prognostic factors and optimize rehabilitation protocols for female athletes.

- Combination of Manual Acupuncture Therapy and Ear Acupuncture (Battlefield Acupuncture) in Patients with Piriformis Syndrome: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Med Acupunct. 2026 Feb; 38(1):85-88.MA
- CONCLUSIONS: Manual acupuncture and auricular acupuncture may contribute to symptom improvement in piriformis syndrome. However, the observed benefit in this case cannot establish clinical efficacy because a single case report does not determine causality, and symptom improvement may also have been influenced by avoidance of aggravating activities.

- Cardiac computed tomography unmasks cardiac involvement in immune complex vasculitis in a patient with chest pain and shortness of breath. [Case Reports]Eur Heart J Case Rep. 2026 May; 10(5):ytag230.EH
- Computed coronary tomography angiography (CCTA) is an important diagnostic tool in patients with suspected acute coronary syndromes (ACS). We present a case of vasculitis and coronary involvement, in which CCTA provided critical insights for both diagnosis and management.

- Efficacy of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) treatment for bovine respiratory disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis for the European Network for Optimization of Antimicrobial Therapy guidelines. [Systematic Review]Open Res Eur. 2026; 6:77.OR
- CONCLUSIONS: Across RCTs, NSAID use did not confer a clinically relevant reduction in re-treatment when added to antimicrobials, and evidence is very uncertain for NSAID monotherapy versus antimicrobials. Future trials should include validated pain/welfare measures, clinical and ultrasonographic outcomes, and performance metrics, with pathogen identification to explore effect modification.

- Topical Sodium Thiosulfate for the Treatment of Calciphylaxis: Case Report. [Case Reports]Nephrology (Carlton). 2026 May; 31(5):e70214.N
- Calciphylaxis is a rare syndrome of microvascular calcification and skin infarction, occurring most commonly in patients with kidney failure. Calciphylaxis carries a poor prognosis, and current treatment involves mitigating risk factors, wound care, and medical therapies such as intravenous sodium thiosulfate for calcium chelation. We present an innovative treatment approach of topical sodium thi…

- Tendon tension increases during gait following Achilles tendon injuries. [Journal Article]Clin Biomech (Bristol). 2026 Apr 13; 137:106848. [Online ahead of print]CB
- CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study show long term gait asymmetries in individuals with Achilles tendinopathy and Achilles tendon rupture. In tendinopathy, the increased shear wave speeds may not be due to an increased muscle load but rather increased passive dorsiflexion (and as such, increased tendon stretch) with a calf-avoidance gait. In the rupture group, tendon lengthening likely has been associated with increased calf muscle activation which can result in increased tendon shear wave speeds.
