- Not All Red Flags Indicate Malignancy: A Case Report of a Benign Lipoma Mimicking Soft-tissue Sarcoma. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the diagnostic challenges in differentiating benign lipomatous lesions from soft-tissue sarcomas based solely on clinical presentation. Appropriate imaging evaluation and histopathological confirmation remain essential for accurate diagnosis and optimal management of suspicious soft-tissue masses.

- PCR-confirmed disseminated herpes zoster initially mimicking lumbar radiculopathy in an apparently immunocompetent adult: a case report and literature review. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights that DHZ may rarely occur in an apparently immunocompetent older adult and may initially mimic lumbar radiculopathy when imaging shows incidental degenerative changes. Acute dermatomal neuropathic pain without objective neurological deficits should prompt consideration of herpes zoster even before rash appears.

- Langerhans cell sarcoma of the right calf: a case report. [Case Reports]AME Case Rep. 2026; 10:146.AC
- CONCLUSIONS: Given the rarity of LCS, there are no standardized recommendations for adjuvant therapy, including radiotherapy and chemotherapy regimens for both localized and systemic disease. This case suggests that surgical excision followed by chemotherapy may be effective in preventing and controlling recurrence and systemic progression. Further research is needed to establish evidence-based management guidelines for LCS.

- Emotional pain in non-human mammals: from neural circuitry and opioid signaling to dysthymia-like states, grief-like behaviors, and physiological dysregulation. [Review]Front Vet Sci. 2026; 13:1878991.FV
- This review aims to analyze the neurobiological, pathophysiological, and ethological foundations of emotional pain in non-human mammals, with particular emphasis on the transition from adaptive responses to pathological states such as animal dysthymia and Takotsubo syndrome. In the review, four conditions that can activate emotional systems will be discussed, such as pain derived from surgery or …

- Effectiveness of eccentric calf muscle exercise therapy in patients with chronic midportion Achilles tendinopathy: a randomized controlled trial. [Journal Article]J Sci Med Sport. 2026 Jul 21. [Online ahead of print]JS
- CONCLUSIONS: In patients with chronic midportion Achilles tendinopathy, no significant difference in symptom improvement was observed between unsupervised home-based EET and UET after 12 weeks. These findings suggest limited short-term effectiveness of EET as an unsupervised home-based exercise program.

- Network analysis of multisite chronic pain in middle-aged and older adults in Western China. [Journal Article]Ann Med. 2026 Dec; 58(1):2711457.AM
- CONCLUSIONS: MCP remains disproportionately prevalent and exhibits structured pain patterns. The identified network characteristics provide new insights into pain co-occurrence and may inform future research and pain management strategies in resource-limited settings.

- Use of neurolytic nerve blocks and mortality in nonoperative management of hip fracture patients : a nationwide population study in the Netherlands. [Journal Article]Bone Joint J. 2026 Aug 01; 108-B(8):1029-1037.BJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Neurolytic nerve blocks have emerged as part of nonoperative hip fracture management in the Netherlands and are associated with lower short-term mortality. Furthermore, our nonoperatively managed cohort appeared less frail than earlier Dutch cohorts, suggesting a broadening of patient selection.

- Botulinum toxin injection combined with rehabilitation training for peroneal spastic flatfoot: A pilot case series. [Journal Article]Toxicon. 2026 Jul 30; 282:109249. [Online ahead of print]T
- Peroneal spastic flatfoot (PSFF) involves peroneal spasm and subtalar restriction, yet optimal conservative care is undefined. This pilot retrospective study explored the preliminary outcomes of botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) injection combined with rehabilitation in 19 PSFF patients (10 with structural abnormalities [SA], 9 without [NSA]). Pain (VAS), spasticity (MAS), and function (AOFAS-AH) w…

- Bilateral superficial peroneal nerve compression secondary to peroneus muscle herniations mimicking spinal claudication. [Case Reports]Radiol Case Rep. 2026 Oct; 21(10):4475-4478.RC
- Muscle herniation is an uncommon musculoskeletal condition that may present with non-specific lower limb symptoms and, in rare cases, result in peripheral nerve compression. We report the case of a 32-year-old woman who presented with a two-year history of progressive exertional bilateral lateral calf pain and dysesthesia initially suspected to represent neurogenic claudication. Lumbar spine magn…

- Criteria for Return to Running After Surgical Repair of Acute Achilles Tendon Rupture: A Modified Delphi Consensus Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: An expert consensus on the criteria to return to running after surgery for Achilles tendon rupture has been developed. These criteria, agreed by experts, may inform clinical decision making regarding return to running, but they require prospective validation before they can be used as decision rules. Further studies are needed to refine these criteria and evaluate their impact on functional outcomes during the return-to-running phase.

- Superficial peroneal nerve accessory artery: a vascular landmark in the mid-calf for ultrasound-guided ankle block. [Journal Article]Reg Anesth Pain Med. 2026 Jul 24. [Online ahead of print]RA
- Vascular landmarks are routinely used in ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia to aid in identifying small or difficult-to-visualize nerves. In the context of ultrasound-guided ankle blocks, well-described adjacent blood vessels assist localization of all relevant nerves except the superficial peroneal nerve, for which no consistent vascular landmark is currently described in the literature. - Schwannoma Arising from the Deep Peroneal Nerve: A Case Report. [Case Reports]J Orthop Case Rep. 2026 Jul; 16(7):362-365.JO
- CONCLUSIONS: Schwannomas arising from deep peroneal nerves are rare. However, they should be considered in patients with chronic leg pain and swelling with neurological symptoms in the leg and calf region. Surgical excision is the treatment of choice, and complete resection is generally curative.
