- Short stature, hearing loss, retinitis pigmentosa, and distinctive facies: an ophthalmological description of a new case of SHRF syndrome. [Journal Article]Ophthalmic Genet. 2026 May 25; :1-5. [Online ahead of print]OG
- CONCLUSIONS: This case expands the phenotypic spectrum of SHRF syndrome and supports the genotype-phenotype association of the EXOSC2 p.Gly30Val variant. Comprehensive genomic analysis is essential to distinguish syndromic manifestations from coexisting genetic conditions in consanguineous families.

- Bag-in-the-lens technique. [Review]Front Ophthalmol (Lausanne). 2026; 6:1813018.FO
- Optimal centration of an intraocular lens (IOL) is important for obtaining its intended visual properties. The bag-in-the-lens (BIL) approach is a surgical technique that optimizes centration by centring the lens using both an anterior and a posterior capsulorhexis. The BIL is a monofocal hydrophilic IOL with a biconvex optic and two elliptical plane haptics. The space between the haptics creates…

- Safety analysis of long-acting dual bronchodilator after market approval: a real-world study from FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database. [Journal Article]J Thorac Dis. 2026 Apr 30; 18(4):388.JT
- CONCLUSIONS: This pharmacovigilance study identified significant safety signals associated with four bronchodilators, highlighting both common and drug-specific disproportionality signals and thereby providing essential evidence to support drug monitoring in clinical practice.

- Unilateral Retinitis Pigmentosa, Glial Tissue Abnormality, and Microphthalmia in a Young Female Patient: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e107568.C
- This report presents a case of unilateral retinitis pigmentosa (URP) with associated symptoms and microphthalmia in the right eye of a young female patient. A 23-year-old with a previous diagnosis of URP and a constricted visual field in one eye was examined. Slit lamp examination of the right eye revealed a moderate posterior subcapsular and mild nuclear sclerotic cataract, with a clear lens in …

- Simulation-Based Training Improves Ophthalmology Resident Confidence in Performing YAG Capsulotomy, Peripheral Iridotomy, and Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty. [Journal Article]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e107563.C
- Background and objective Laser-based procedures such as yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) capsulotomy, peripheral iridotomy (PI), and selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) are core competencies in ophthalmology, often involving a significant learning curve. This study assessed the impact of a structured simulation training program in improving ophthalmology residents' confidence in performing YAG cap…

- Multimorbidity and its associations with physical function, fall risk, and hospitalization cost in adults with type 1 diabetes: a cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]Front Endocrinol (Lausanne). 2026; 17:1817819.FE
- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings demonstrate that multimorbidity is highly prevalent among Chinese adults with T1D. A higher burden of multimorbidity is significantly associated with adverse functional outcomes, including increased fall risk and greater dependence in ADL, as well as higher hospitalization costs. These findings highlight the critical need to integrate assessments of functional status, fall risk, and multimorbidity into routine clinical care for adults with T1D.

- Association of Gonioscopy Scores with Changes in Intraocular Pressure after Phacoemulsification in a Predominantly Vietnamese Population: A Retrospective Study. [Journal Article]Clin Ophthalmol. 2026; 20:600343.CO
- CONCLUSIONS: We found a significant difference in IOP reduction at 6 months after cataract surgery between low and high gonioscore groups within a predominantly Vietnamese cohort. Given that IOP reduction can be achieved with cataract surgery to help minimize vision loss in glaucoma, gonioscopy can be a useful measure to predict post-surgical IOP in this population.

- Suprachoroidal injection in the treatment of diabetic macular edema: mechanisms, clinical advances, and future perspectives. [Review]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1797383.FM
- Diabetic macular edema (DME) is the leading cause of vision loss in patients with diabetes. Conventional therapies like intravitreal injections (IVI) of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) agents and corticosteroids are often limited by the frequent injections and risks of complications. Suprachoroidal space (SCS) injection has emerged as a novel drug delivery technique. It targets eye…

- Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery versus conventional phacoemulsification surgery: visual outcomes with presbyopia-correcting intraocular lens. [Journal Article]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1819853.FM
- CONCLUSIONS: Both FLACS and CPS can effectively improve VA and significantly enhance visual quality after presbyopia-correcting IOL implantation. Compared to CPS, FLACS exhibited enhanced full-range vision, more stable intermediate and near vision, as well as certain advantages in early recovery of VA.

- Intraocular lens exchange for vision-dependent vestibular disorder after cataract surgery: A case report. [Case Reports]Am J Ophthalmol Case Rep. 2026 Sep; 43:102592.AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: In visually dependent patients, substantial changes in habitual refractive state may exacerbate vestibular symptoms. In such cases, IOL exchange may alleviate visually induced vestibular dysfunction by restoring the preoperative refractive error.

- CONCLUSIONS: Visual acuity testing using the SightConnect mobile application reported moderate agreement with the standard clinical assessments, and the accuracy in grading visual acuity and suggesting referral urgency was acceptable. These findings support the use of SightConnect applications for enabling and enhancing access to primary eye care services and guiding users on when to seek clinical attention.

- The Influence of Intraocular Monofocal Lens Position During Phacoemulsification Cataract Surgery on the Occurrence of Dysphotopsia. [Journal Article]Beyoglu Eye J. 2026; 11(1):34-41.BE
- CONCLUSIONS: The study found a significant association between IOL position and the incidence of negative dysphotopsia, especially with inferonasal and superonasal placements. However, the IOL position did not influence the intensity of either positive or negative dysphotopsia. This implies that post-surgery negative dysphotopsia perception is influenced by lens location. Patient satisfaction remained high, though negative dysphotopsia intensity negatively correlated with satisfaction scores.
