- Incidence Trends and Severe in-Hospital Outcomes of Pemphigus Vulgaris: A Nationwide Cohort Study. [Journal Article]J Dermatol. 2026 May 29. [Online ahead of print]JD
- Contemporary population-based data on incidence trends and in-hospital outcomes of pemphigus vulgaris remain limited, particularly in Southeast Asia. This study aimed to characterize incidence patterns and identify factors associated with severe in-hospital outcomes. We conducted a nationwide retrospective cohort study using Thailand's national administrative health database from 2015 to 2024. In…

- NLRP1 inflammasome activation in skin equivalents reveals mechanistic insights into the roles of keratinocytes in psoriasis. [Journal Article]Cell Death Dis. 2026 May 30. [Online ahead of print]CD
- The pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin(IL)-1β and IL-36γ are key drivers of psoriasis, an inflammatory skin disease for which a causal therapy is not available. However, the mechanisms underlying regulation of these cytokines in psoriasis remain poorly understood. Generation of IL-1β activity is regulated by inflammasomes. We activated the NLRP1 inflammasome in human keratinocytes cultivated …

- Population genomics and disease risk of primary cutaneous amyloidosis: A prominent genodermatosis of Southeast Asia. [Journal Article]J Formos Med Assoc. 2026 May 29. [Online ahead of print]JF
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings establish OSMR p.G513D as a population-specific risk allele for PCA and highlight the need for ancestry-aware genetic screening in Southeast Asians.

- A Primary Care Intervention to Improve Melanoma Detection and Management. [Editorial]J Am Board Fam Med. 2026 Jan; 39(1).JA
- CONCLUSIONS: Melanoma education increased the specificity of primary care clinicians' e-consults without increasing in-person dermatology referrals or unnecessary biopsies. While this intervention has promise for improving skin cancer care in primary care, efforts are needed to increase clinician engagement in this education.

- Skintegrity: Ethical Choices in Synthetic vs Autologous Grafting. [Journal Article]Clin Dermatol. 2026 May 28. [Online ahead of print]CD
- The growing use of synthetic skin substitutes versus autologous grafts in dermatologic reconstruction represents a significant development in the field that extends beyond technical surgical considerations into broader questions of medical ethics. Physicians deciding which graft is preferable are increasingly facing ethical dilemmas. They are balancing clinical outcomes, patient preferences, proc…

- Chronic Ear Pruritus. [Journal Article]Clin Dermatol. 2026 May 28. [Online ahead of print]CD
- Chronic ear pruritus, itching of the ear that lasts longer than six weeks, is a common symptom with a wide differential diagnosis, and can significantly impair the quality of life. It can arise from primary dermatologic conditions such as psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, and lupus erythematosus, as well as infestations such as scabies and pediculosis capiti…

- Quality and safety of large language model generated communication in psychodermatology: a bilingual scenario-based evaluation. [Journal Article]Int J Med Inform. 2026 May 15; 217:106479. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: While LLMs demonstrated strong empathic and stigma-sensitive communication in psychodermatology, they consistently lacked actionable guidance and robust risk framing. These findings support cautious, clinician-supervised use of LLMs as adjunctive tools for patient education in psychodermatologic care.

- Mapping the network of persistent somatic symptoms across diseases: Cross-sectional and longitudinal analyses from the SOMACROSS research unit. [Journal Article]J Psychosom Res. 2026 May 22; 209:112871. [Online ahead of print]JP
- Persistent somatic symptoms (PSS) are common, functionally disruptive, and stable over time. Understanding symptom interactions may clarify transdiagnostic patterns and inform treatment. This study investigated symptom interrelations in a transdiagnostic sample to identify central symptoms and assess temporal stability.

- Understanding the Clinical Spectrum of the Cutaneous and Acute Hepatic Porphyrias. [Review]Am J Clin Dermatol. 2026 May 29. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- Porphyrias are rare metabolic disorders caused by inherited or acquired enzymatic defects in the heme biosynthesis pathway, resulting in the accumulation of heme precursors or toxic porphyrin intermediates. The cutaneous porphyrias arise from enzymatic defects in later steps of the heme biosynthesis pathway, which lead to the build-up of photoactive porphyrins in the skin and liver, such as copro…

- Longitudinal Response Trajectories with Dupilumab or Upadacitinib in Moderate-to-Severe Atopic Dermatitis: A Multicentre Real-World Study: IL-AD (Italian Landscape Atopic Dermatitis). [Journal Article]Dermatol Ther (Heidelb). 2026 May 29. [Online ahead of print]DT
- CONCLUSIONS: In this large real-world cohort, both dupilumab and upadacitinib provided substantial and sustained clinical improvements in moderate-to-severe AD. Distinct response kinetics were observed, with faster early responses with upadacitinib and progressively increasing responses with dupilumab, supporting a personalised approach to treatment selection in routine clinical practice.

- CONCLUSIONS: Angioplasty with the APERTO OTW drug-coated balloon, applied as a single high-pressure step without pre-dilatation, proved safe, effective, and complication-free. It significantly improved blood flow and maintained competitive long-term patency, confirming its reliability for hemodialysis vascular access.

- Cardiac involvement in severe cutaneous adverse reactions: a Retrospective Observational Cohort Study of DRESS and SJS/TEN at a major Australian tertiary hospital. [Journal Article]Clin Exp Dermatol. 2026 May 29. [Online ahead of print]CE
- CONCLUSIONS: Cardiac involvement is an under-recognised but clinically important feature of DRESS and SJS/TEN. Findings highlight the contribution of cardiac dysfunction to morbidity and support routine cardiac assessment in patients with SCAR. Larger prospective studies and national drug reaction registries are needed to better define burden and guide care.

- Anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) is part of the spectrum of CD30-positive lymphoproliferative disorders within cutaneous T-cell lymphomas. These disorders account for approximately 25%-30% of all primary cutaneous lymphomas (PCLs). Primary cutaneous ALCL (pcALCL) is an uncommon entity with heterogeneous clinical and histopathologic features, often posing a diagnostic challenge. We report a 7…
