- SADS-CoV N protein antagonizes JAK-STAT signaling pathway by targeting STAT1 for degradation. [Journal Article]Vet Microbiol. 2026 Aug 17; 321:111196. [Online ahead of print]VM
- In recent years, Swine Acute Diarrhea Syndrome Coronavirus (SADS-CoV) has attracted our attention as a new outbreak of porcine coronavirus. Reports on SADS-CoV indicate that this virus is widely involved in innate immunity, but its mechanism of involvement in antagonizing interferon signaling is still unclear. In this article, we found that the nucleocapsid protein (N) of SADS-CoV can inhibit the…

- Pathways linking household food insecurity to undernutrition among under 5 children in migrant populations along the Thailand-Myanmar border: A Structural Equation Modeling approach. [Journal Article]PLOS Glob Public Health. 2026; 6(8):e0006516.PG
- Child malnutrition remains a global crisis, exacerbated in border regions by Myanmar's post-2021 conflict. This study utilized Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine the pathways linking household food insecurity (HFI) to undernutrition among migrant children along the Thailand-Myanmar border. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 384 mothers in Tak and Mae Hong Son provinces with c…

- Diagnostic pitfalls and management patterns of pediatric right-sided colonic diverticulitis: a single-center retrospective study. [Journal Article]Pediatr Surg Int. 2026 Aug 20; 42(1).PS
- CONCLUSIONS: Pediatric rsCD is a rare condition with nonspecific clinical manifestations that frequently overlap with common causes of pediatric acute abdomen. Therefore, rsCD should be considered in the differential diagnosis of children presenting with right lower quadrant abdominal pain.

- Severe Gastrointestinal Intolerance After Resuming Maintenance-Dose Semaglutide Following Ramadan-Related Treatment Interruption: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Jul; 18(7):e113026.C
- Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists are widely used in the treatment of obesity and diabetes mellitus because of their efficacy in weight reduction, glycemic control, and overall metabolic benefits. Gastrointestinal adverse events are among the most frequently reported side effects associated with these agents and are typically transient, occurring predominantly during dose escalati…

- The mechanism of action and clinical efficacy of xanomeline-trospium in schizophrenia: A comprehensive review. [Review]Ther Adv Psychopharmacol. 2026; 16:20451253261478086.TA
- This narrative review summarizes the latest clinical evidence on xanomeline-trospium in schizophrenia, a first-in-class centrally acting dual-target muscarinic receptor modulator. Xanomeline-trospium combines the muscarinic receptor agonist xanomeline, with with functional preference for M1/M4 subtypes, and the peripherally acting muscarinic antagonist trospium chloride in a 4.2:1 ratio. Xanomeli…

- Evaluating the analgesic effect of metamizole in the mouse model for DSS-induced acute colitis. [Journal Article]Front Physiol. 2026; 17:1810607.FP
- A commonly used mouse model of ulcerative colitis is the Dextran Sodium Sulphate (DSS) colitis model, including symptoms of weight loss, softening of stool up to diarrhea, and abdominal pain. To address 3R-refinement, we aimed to reduce severity in this model through pain therapy with metamizole. In addition to the potential analgesic effect, we investigated whether metamizole had a modulatory ef…

- Norovirus infection in pediatric acute gastroenteritis: epidemiology and clinical features in Ezhou, China, 2023-2025. [Journal Article]Front Physiol. 2026; 17:1808306.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: NoV infection prevalence rose continuously in Ezhou during the 2.5-year study period, with seasonal peaks in winter and spring. GII.17 was the dominant genotype among sequenced isolates. Children aged 1-2 years constitute the highest-risk population and exhibit a wide range of clinical manifestations. Fecal colloidal gold immunoassay serves as a practical screening tool for NoV detection in pediatric populations at primary medical institutions.

- Repurposing of colchicine: critical examination of clinical trials and scoping review. [Review]Eur J Clin Pharmacol. 2026 Aug 20; 82(9).EJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Current evidence most consistently supports colchicine for secondary cardiovascular prevention in established coronary disease. No reliable evidence is found for benefit across broader cardiovascular conditions, COVID-19 or other indications. A narrow therapeutic index and high drug-interaction potential necessitate careful patient selection and monitoring. Well-powered and methodologically robust clinical trials are required to investigate and confirm potential benefits.

- Missing data practices in DHS-based child health research in sub-Saharan Africa: a methodological review of diarrhea and acute respiratory infection studies. [Systematic Review]Glob Health Action. 2026 Dec; 19(1):2715899.GH
- Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) data are important for determining risk factors associated with childhood diarrhea and acute respiratory infections (ARI) in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA); however, missing data from DHS can bias analyses, and no systematic review has assessed this practice. To address this, peer-reviewed DHS/MICS studies from SSA with childhood diarrhea or ARI as health outcomes we…

- Infliximab-Associated IgA Vasculitis Masquerading as Crohn's Disease Relapse: Leukocytoclastic Vasculitis Confirmed on Duodenal Biopsy - A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights IgA vasculitis as a critical diagnostic consideration in patients with IBD receiving anti-TNF-α therapy who present with acute abdominal symptoms, especially when GI involvement precedes the appearance of purpura ("herald enteritis"). Biopsy of the duodenal ulcer base may provide decisive clues for differentiating vasculitis from CD relapse, thereby preventing inappropriate intensification of CD treatment.

- Predictors of mortality from diarrhea during a cholera outbreak in Haiti's Artibonite and Centre regions, 2022-2024. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Older age, severe dehydration, and vomiting were significant predictors of cholera-related deaths in the Centre and Artibonite regions during Haiti's 2022-2024 cholera epidemic. Improving data collection during outbreaks, including information on comorbidities, may enhance our understanding of these associations and inform interventions for further reducing cholera mortality.
