- Gancao Xiexin decoction alleviates 5-fluorouracil-induced intestinal mucositis by inhibiting ACSL4 and activating Keap1-Nrf2 pathway. [Journal Article]Tissue Cell. 2026 May 28; 103:103646. [Online ahead of print]TC
- 5-Fluorouracil (5-Fu) is a commonly used chemotherapy drug, but it frequently induces toxic side effects such as intestinal mucositis and is closely associated with ferroptosis. Gancao Xiexin (GCXX) decoction, a renowned formula in traditional Chinese medicine, is widely employed for treating gastrointestinal inflammatory diseases. However, the therapeutic effects and underlying mechanisms of GC…

- CONCLUSIONS: Both anastomotic methods are effective and safe in minimally invasive radical right hemicolectomy. The ISO may offer modest technical advantages, but current evidence does not justify a strong preferential recommendation.

- Intestinal tuberculosis Mimicking Crohn's Disease with concomitant axial spondyloarthritis: A diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. [Case Reports]IDCases. 2026; 44:e02594.I
- CONCLUSIONS: This case underscores the need for heightened vigilance for ITB in patients presenting with Crohn's-like colitis and inflammatory musculoskeletal symptoms in tuberculosis-endemic settings. Histopathological evaluation remains pivotal when microbiological investigations are inconclusive. A stepwise, "infection-first" approach is essential to avoid premature immunosuppression and to ensure safe and effective management of coexisting inflammatory conditions.

- Global burden of enteric infectious diseases, diarrhoeal diseases, and corresponding aetiologies, 1990-2023: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023. [Journal Article]Lancet Infect Dis. 2026 Jun 02. [Online ahead of print]LI
- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings show that mortality and ASMRs of enteric infectious diseases declined substantially between 1990 and 2023. This decline is consistent with the expansion of public health measures and broader socioeconomic development. However, the burden in 2023 remains considerably high, with the highest mortality concentrated in sub-Saharan Africa and south Asia. Considering that more than a quarter of all countries had yet to meet the GAPPD mortality target in 2023, sustained efforts are needed to address the persistent burden in affected countries and to adapt to the changing global health landscape.

- CONCLUSIONS: These findings demonstrate that chronic GIP receptor activation in individuals with T2D leads primarily to increased insulin sensitivity, and that combining GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonism can augment both insulin secretion and insulin sensitivity compared to GLP-1 therapy alone.

- CONCLUSIONS: Collectively, these cases emphasize the diagnostic value of endoscopy in identifying hookworm infection, its diverse clinical manifestations beyond chronic anemia, and the requirement for the consideration of hookworm infection in the differential diagnosis of eosinophilia, unexplained colitis, and refractory iron deficiency across a wide demographic spectrum.

- Functional Recovery After Chemotherapy- and Radiotherapy-Induced Gastrointestinal Injury: Mechanisms, Clinical Assessment, and Management. [Review]Int J Gen Med. 2026; 19:610529.IJ
- Chemotherapy- and radiotherapy-induced gastrointestinal injury is a common complication of cancer treatment and may present with diarrhea, abdominal pain, urgency, bloating, rectal bleeding, and reduced oral intake. Although many cases improve after treatment completion, some patients develop persistent or late bowel dysfunction that impairs nutrition, treatment tolerance, daily functioning, and …

- Food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) is a severe non-IgE-mediated food allergy with unclear prevalence and pathophysiology. FPIES typically presents in the first year of life but can present later in adulthood in an acute or chronic manner. Acute FPIES manifests 1-4 hours after ingestion of foods such as rice, oats, and cow's milk, causing repetitive vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, d…

- This study aimed to investigate the association between a healthy lifestyle and the risk of chronic diarrhea. A total of 2921 eligible participants from the 2007 to 2010 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey cycles were included in our study. We collected information on lifestyle factors such as diet, physical activity, sleep, smoking, and alcohol consumption, and defined chronic diarr…

- Laparoscopic Reversal of One-Anastomosis Gastric Bypass After Sleeve Gastrectomy: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Am J Case Rep. 2026 May 29; 27:e952517.AJ
- BACKGROUND One-anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) is an effective bariatric surgery; however, there may be serious instances of metabolic and nutritional complications that may require complete reversal. Reversal of complete OAGB to near-normal physiology, especially with a background of sleeve gastrectomy, is extremely rare. This case report discusses the complications associated with reversal of…

We report the case of a man in his 80s with chronic kidney disease and cardiovascular comorbidities who ingested emamectin benzoate emulsion. On day 2, he presented with abdominal pain, diarrhea, and marked sialorrhea; his vital signs were stable; however, his serum cholines…

- The GLIM malnutrition diagnostic framework includes the etiologic criterion for reduced dietary intake or assimilation (i.e., digestion or absorption). This criterion required further specification to support consistent use in clinical practice. - Clinicopathological characteristics of a rare group of chronic active Epstein-Barr virus disease involving the gastrointestinal tract. [Journal Article]J Hematop. 2026 May 28; 19(1).JH
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings indicate that gastrointestinal CAEBVD lacks distinctive clinical and pathological characteristics, and peripheral blood EBV DNA screening combined with EBER detection of biopsy tissues is the most important factor in avoiding misdiagnosis and underdiagnosis. Gastrointestinal CAEBVD carries a poor prognosis, but allo-HSCT can significantly increase patient survival rates.
