- Microbial Resource Regimes Shape Early Survival, Growth, and Reproductive Morphology in a Phally Polymorphic Terrestrial Gastropod. [Journal Article]Microb Ecol. 2026 Jun 19. [Online ahead of print]ME
- Microorganisms are fundamental components of terrestrial ecosystems, acting not only as symbionts or pathogens but also as key nutritional resources for invertebrates. Despite their ubiquity, their role in shaping early-life survival and phenotypic variation in terrestrial animals remains poorly understood. Here, we investigated how microbial resource regimes act as early-life ecological filters …

- FLOW800-guided microsurgical resection of a brainstem hemangioblastoma with AVM-like features: a case report and technical note. [Case Reports]Front Oncol. 2026; 16:1856923.FO
- CONCLUSIONS: For brainstem HBs with AVM-like hypervascularity, FLOW800-guided en bloc peripheral dissection combined with ultra-gentle manipulation of the tumor-brainstem interface allows safe gross-total resection without preoperative embolization. This case supports the routine intraoperative use of FLOW800 in selected brainstem HBs.

- Risk factors for refractory BPPV: subtype-dependent association of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D. [Journal Article]Front Neurol. 2026; 17:1838362.FN
- Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) generally responds well to canalith repositioning procedures (CRPs), although some patients require repeated interventions. In this study, we evaluated refractory BPPV based on the number of CRP attempts required in 171 patients with acute BPPV and investigated clinical factors associated with treatment resistance, with particular emphasis on serum 25-h…

- Aripiprazole as second-line pharmacotherapy for a heterogeneous cohort of refractory functional dizziness disorders: a pilot preliminary retrospective study. [Journal Article]Front Neurol. 2026; 17:1858965.FN
- CONCLUSIONS: In this pilot retrospective series, aripiprazole demonstrated promising preliminary efficacy as a second-line treatment for refractory functional dizziness disorders. Its multimodal serotonin-dopamine mechanism may target symptoms insufficiently controlled by serotonergic agents alone. Given the small sample size and uncontrolled design, these findings should be considered hypothesis-generating. Prospective controlled studies are warranted.

- A Case Report of an Upper Cervical Spine Osteolipoma With Unusual Clinical Presentation. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 May; 18(5):e109135.C
- Osteolipoma is an uncommon benign lipomatous tumor characterized by the presence of mature adipose tissue intermixed with lamellar bone. We present a unique case of a 22-year-old female with an osteolipoma in the upper cervical paraspinal region, closely associated with the vertebral artery. The patient exhibited atypical symptoms, including intermittent dizziness and numbness around the right ey…

- Migraine in children and adolescents. [Review]Dev Med Child Neurol. 2026 Jun 18. [Online ahead of print]DM
- This narrative review explores recent advances in the study of migraine with an emphasis on its complex polygenic aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, and the potential for new specific mechanism-based treatments in children and adolescents. The polygenic aetiology and complex pathogenesis of migraine make its clinical presentation subject to the influences of intrinsic physiological a…

- Impact of medication side effects on medication adherence and implications for treatment outcomes in patients with borderline personality disorder: a pilot study. [Journal Article]BMC Psychiatry. 2026 Jun 18. [Online ahead of print]BP
- CONCLUSIONS: Despite frequent side effects, adherence remained high-likely due to the structured inpatient setting and voluntary admission. The lack of significant associations suggests other factors may influence treatment outcomes. Future research should involve larger samples, outpatient settings, follow-ups, and objective adherence measures. Targeted interventions addressing specific side effects may help improve adherence and clinical outcomes.

- Late emergence of myasthenia gravis complicating envenoming by Vipera ammodytes. [Case Reports]Toxicon. 2026 Jun 18; :109196. [Online ahead of print]T
- CONCLUSIONS: Although the acute management of snakebite envenomation primarily focuses on life-threatening complications, less severe venom-related effects may be overlooked during this stage. Therefore, long-term monitoring of the patient's clinical status is necessary, with periodic reassessment and adjustment of the therapeutic approach.

- Exposure to high altitude can cause acute mountain sickness (AMS) characterized by headache, gastrointestinal symptoms, dizziness and fatigue, which may progress to life-threatening conditions like high-altitude cerebral edema (HACE). Although the pathophysiology and development of AMS have been intensely investigated, the risk factors and underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood. In …

- NF2-Related Schwannomatosis (NF2-SWN) is a rare tumor predisposition syndrome characterized by heterogeneous clinical manifestations that substantially impact quality of life (QOL). In this diverse patient population, a disease-specific QOL instrument is essential for both research and clinical decision-making. Insight into factors associated with QOL may further facilitate the tailoring of manag…
