- A Case Report on Renal Abscess With Subsequent Perinephric Extension in a Patient With Poorly Controlled Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e106961.C
- Renal and perinephric abscesses are rare but potentially life-threatening complications of urinary tract infections (UTIs), especially in patients with diabetes mellitus. Diagnosis is often overlooked and delayed due to nonspecific clinical features and incomplete response to antimicrobial therapy. We report a case of a 62-year-old female with a history of poorly controlled type 2 diabetes mellit…

- Salmonella prostatic abscess in a patient with decompensated cirrhosis of liver with descending thoracic aortic aneurysm: A rare clinical convergence. [Case Reports]Indian J Med Microbiol. 2026 May 12; 62:101136. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- A 59-year-old male with decompensated cirrhosis presented with shortness of breath, melena, and progressive dysuria. Clinical examination revealed tender, enlarged prostate. Computed tomography identified a prostatic abscess measuring 2.3 × 2.4 × 2.5 cm. Transrectal ultrasound-guided aspiration yielded purulent material. Culture isolated Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi and multidrug-resistant E…

- Sciatica beyond the spine: a prospective study on laparoscopic neurolysis of pelvic sciatic and sacral nerves demonstrating long-term improvements in pain, function, mood, and bladder symptoms (VAS, SF-36, PHQ-9, OAB-V8). [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Laparoscopic decompression of intrapelvic sciatic and sacral nerves appears safe and effective, providing substantial and sustained improvements in pain, quality of life, mood, and bladder symptoms. Further randomized trials are needed to validate these findings.

- Urethral foreign bodies: a hidden consequence of autoerotic behavior-a case report. [Journal Article]J Med Case Rep. 2026 May 07. [Online ahead of print]JM
- CONCLUSIONS: This case underscores the importance of early diagnosis and minimally invasive management in patients presenting with urethral foreign bodies. It also highlights the need for psychological evaluation to address underlying behavioral causes. Clinicians should maintain a high index of suspicion in similar presentations and ensure a multidisciplinary approach involving both urological and psychological care.

- Integrative Use of Ningmitai Capsule and Cefoxitin in Treating Post-Ureteroscopic Lithotripsy Stent-Related Urinary Tract Infections. [Journal Article]Clin Transl Sci. 2026 May; 19(5):e70553.CT
- Ureteral stent placement following ureteroscopic lithotripsy (URL) reduces obstruction but increases the risk of urinary tract infection (UTI). Conventional antibiotic therapy alone is often insufficient. Ningmitai capsule, a traditional Chinese herbal preparation, has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activity. This study evaluated the efficacy, safety, and translational value of …

- Beyond UTI: Chronic Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms as a Manifestation of Genitourinary Tuberculosis: Case Series with Review of Literature. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Bladder TB should be considered in women with chronic LUTS, especially in TB-endemic areas and in cases unresponsive to antibiotics with sterile urine cultures. Urine AFB testing and early imaging are essential for timely diagnosis. Prompt ATT initiation may reverse symptoms and reduce the need for invasive procedures.

- Reactive infectious mucocutaneous eruption secondary to Chlamydia pneumoniae infection in a 19-year-old: a case report. [Case Reports]Access Microbiol. 2026; 8(4).AM
- Introduction. Reactive infectious mucocutaneous eruption (RIME) is a phenomenon that occurs predominantly in children and young adults following a bacterial or viral respiratory infection. RIME is most associated with Mycoplasma pneumoniae and generally presents with extensive mucosal and limited cutaneous involvement. Less commonly, infection with Chlamydia pneumoniae can trigger cutaneous erupt…

- Addressing forgotten double J stents: Lessons learned from a tertiary care center. [Journal Article]Urologia. 2026 May 04; :3915603261447148. [Online ahead of print]U
- CONCLUSIONS: The issue of forgotten DJ stents remains a prevalent problem in developing countries, causing significant morbidity and financial burdens for patients. Stent registers and electronic stent extraction reminders helps us to minimize the incidence of forgotten stents.

- An unusual cause of a vesical mass: Small bowel diverticulum presenting with a bladder fistula: A case report and review of the literature. [Case Reports]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Apr 24; 105(17):e48536.M
- CONCLUSIONS: Small bowel diverticulum can masquerade as recurrent bladder tumor over multiple surgeries. Key diagnostic clues include the dynamic protrusion/retraction phenomenon with bladder filling status and flocculent material in urine. Persistent "recurrent" bladder masses with atypical features warrant consideration of enteric sources. Multidisciplinary collaboration between urology and general surgery was essential for definitive diagnosis and management.

- Temporal Patterns and Resolution of Toxicities Following Hypofractionated Salvage Radiotherapy for Biochemical Recurrence of Prostate Cancer After Prostatectomy. [Journal Article]Prostate. 2026 May 03. [Online ahead of print]P
- CONCLUSIONS: With a median follow-up of 18.2 months, hypofractionated salvage radiotherapy demonstrates favorable short-to-intermediate term tolerability, with infrequent severe toxicities. Vigilant monitoring for late-onset rectal bleeding and hematuria is recommended during the 6-24 months after treatment to optimize patient management. Longer follow-up is required to confirm long-term safety.

- Application of Intraluminal Indocyanine Green in Advanced Endometriosis Surgery. [Journal Article]Fertil Steril. 2026 Apr 28. [Online ahead of print]FS
- CONCLUSIONS: Intravenous ICG is well established for assessing bowel perfusion and anastomotic viability [1]. Its use for ureteral perfusion has been described in limited reports, while pelvic nerve visualization has only been reported in isolated case reports [2,3]. Intraluminal injection of ICG into the ureters is commonly used to aid ureteral identification [4]. In this video, we highlight intraluminal ICG as a valuable adjunct in advanced endometriosis and adenomyosis surgery. When combined with the advantages of robotic surgery, it enables precise, mucosa-sparing excision of deep endometriotic lesions and may reduce surgical morbidity.

- A Rare Case of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome in a Young Patient Presenting With Odynophagia Following Antibiotic Use. [Case Reports]Am J Case Rep. 2026 Apr 29; 27:e951823.AJ
- BACKGROUND Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) is a rare, immune-mediated mucocutaneous disorder usually triggered by medications or infections. It typically manifests with widespread epidermal detachment and mucosal ulcerations, but atypical cases can present with isolated mucosal involvement, leading to diagnostic uncertainty and delayed treatment. Recognizing such varying presentations is crucial t…
