- A 70-year-old male presented with dyspnea New York Heart Association (NYHA) class II since 1994. Dyspnea was not progressive. There was no history of cough, fever, chest pain, or palpitation. He was investigated and was told to have some abnormality in his heart and was advised surgery. Since patient was not very symptomatic, he did not undergo surgery. He did not have any record of his ailment. …

- Cardioembolic stroke in Chagas cardiomyopathy: the interplay between apical aneurysm, left ventricular thrombus and clinical outcomes. [Journal Article]Heart. 2026 Jul 28. [Online ahead of print]H
- CONCLUSIONS: In CCM, CE stroke is primarily driven by LV thrombus formation. Apical aneurysm increases embolic risk mainly through thrombus mediation, while prior CE stroke identifies patients at increased risk for recurrence. These findings support targeted stroke prevention strategies focused on thrombus detection and anticoagulation.

- Case analysis of tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy secondary to persistent tachycardia in children. [Case Reports]J Int Med Res. 2026 Jul; 54(7):3000605261458551.JI
- Tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy secondary to persistent tachycardia in children is a distinct form of cardiomyopathy caused by sustained or frequent tachyarrhythmias. It is characterized by cardiac enlargement, impaired cardiac function, and heart failure and is clinically reversible with early and standardized treatment. Herein, we report a challenging pediatric case presenting with recurrent…

- Histological evaluation of clinically defined atrial cardiomyopathy stages and their association with atrial fibrillation burden under continuous monitoring for a 2.5-year follow-up. [Journal Article]Europace. 2026 Jul 03; 28(7).E
- CONCLUSIONS: Clinical AtCM markers reflect pro-fibrotic and pro-hypertrophic remodelling in the moderate to severe AtCM stages and are associated with a higher AF burden late after surgery.

- Beyond the Irregular Beat: An Unexpected Case of Raynaud's Phenomenon in a Patient with Atrial Fibrillation. [Case Reports]Acta Med Indones. 2026 Apr; 58(2):277-280.AM
- Raynaud's phenomenon is characterized by episodic vasospasm of the extremities, often triggered by cold or stress. It is a hallmark of systemic sclerosis (SSc) and is frequently associated with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). PAH may cause right atrial dilatation, predisposing to atrial fibrillation (AF). While Raynaud's and PAH are well-documented, their coexistence with AF is rarely repo…
- Prevalence of cardiac arrhythmias in poorly performing horses. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Because cardiac arrhythmia may lead to racehorse exercise intolerance and suboptimal performance, early diagnosis is important to allow veterinarians to develop long-term treatment strategies. Furthermore, electrocardiography, along with cardiac biomarker cardiac troponin, is essential.

- Diagnostic accuracy of electrocardiographic parameters to detect left atrial enlargement in children with post-tricuspid left-to-right shunt. [Journal Article]Cardiol Young. 2026 Jun 23; :1-8. [Online ahead of print]CY
- CONCLUSIONS: Measurement of the terminal negative force of the P wave at 2nd intercostal space has improved the specificity in the detection of left atrial enlargement. Future studies with higher sample sizes in a heterogeneous population might characterise this as a potential tool in detecting left atrial enlargement.

- When Palpitations Unmask Crista Terminalis Hypertrophy: A Case Report and Review of Current Literature. [Case Reports]Diagnostics (Basel). 2026 May 25; 16(11).D
- Background and Clinical Significance: The crista terminalis (CT) is a physiological fibromuscular ridge in the right atrium. While benign, rare cases of CT hypertrophy present a diagnostic challenge, as it can mimic a pathological right atrial mass on cardiac imaging. The CT also presents arrhythmogenic potential and is known to be associated with right atrial tachyarrhythmias. Case Presentation:…

- Left atrial dominant cardiac sarcoidosis presenting with supraventricular tachycardia and left atrial myocardial damage: A case report. [Case Reports]J Cardiol Cases. 2026 Jun; 33(6):206-209.JC
- A 61-year-old woman presented to our hospital with palpitations and dyspnea persisting for several months. Electrocardiography revealed atrial tachycardia, and X-ray revealed bilateral hilar enlargement. Computed tomography (CT) was performed for suspected sarcoidosis of the respiratory system, which revealed hilar lymph node enlargement in the bilateral lungs. 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG)-po…

- Electrocardiographic markers of right heart strain and their association with arrhythmias in patients with COPD. [Journal Article]J Electrocardiol. 2026; 97:154377.JE
- CONCLUSIONS: ECG markers of right heart strain, particularly P pulmonale and RVH, are independent predictors of arrhythmias in COPD patients. ECG may serve as a simple, non-invasive tool for early risk stratification and identification of patients who may benefit from closer rhythm monitoring. The relatively small sample size and single-centre design may limit the generalizability of the findings.

- Conventional preoperative parameters associated with new-onset atrial fibrillation after TAVR: a comparative single-center study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Older age, higher heart rate, enlarged cardiac chambers (including right heart and left atrium), reduced left ventricular systolic function, elevated NT-proBNP, renal dysfunction, higher uric acid, lower total cholesterol, and increased monocyte percentage are associated with post-TAVR NOAF. These easily accessible conventional markers may facilitate early identification of high-risk patients in routine clinical practice, offering a practical alternative to advanced imaging techniques.

- Prevalence and characteristics of normal electrocardiograms in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. [Journal Article]J Electrocardiol. 2026 May-Jun; 96:154363.JE
- CONCLUSIONS: A completely normal ECG was observed in only 1.6% of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. While a normal ECG substantially lowers the likelihood of HCM, it does not exclude the diagnosis. Despite advances in imaging, the ECG remains a simple, accessible, and indispensable screening tool for early detection.

- Criss-cross heart electrocardiographic analysis. Bicentric study. [Multicenter Study]J Electrocardiol. 2026 Jul-Aug; 97:154268.JE
- CONCLUSIONS: The electrocardiographic analysis of these patients allows us to visualize the situs, position of the cardiac chambers, and associated defects in patients with criss-cross heart. It is useful for the diagnostic orientation of the echocardiographer and therefore contributes initially to the echocardiographic study.

- Tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is a prevalent cardiovascular disorder with significant clinical impact. TR is frequently silent and underdiagnosed and is estimated to impact over 70 million people globally. Characterized by retrograde blood flow from the right ventricle into the right atrium due to incomplete valve closure, TR leads to right heart dilation, systemic congestion, and eventually right…

- Role of Electrocardiogram for the Detection of Cardiac Diseases in a Healthy Primary School Population: Data from the "Cuore e Scuola" Study. [Journal Article]
- ECG is the most used tools in cardiology. Some life-threatening arrhythmias and cardiac abnormalities can be diagnosed with ECG. The aim is to assess the role of ECG for the detection of cardiac disease in children, from September 2014 to January 2020, ECG was performed in 52 primary school in Como. 5793 children (49.4% female) aged 8.1 (± 1.3) years had an ECG; 79 (1.3%) were abnormal due to the…
