- Urgent laparoscopic cholecystectomy in a patient with situs inversus totalis: a case report and literature review. [Case Reports]Int J Surg Case Rep. 2026 Jun; 138(6):2303-2307.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Acute cholecystitis in patients with SIT may present with misleading left-sided symptoms. Early recognition through imaging and adaptation to mirror-image anatomy allow for safe and effective urgent laparoscopic management. Awareness of this rare condition is essential to avoid diagnostic delays and operative complications.

- Electrocardiographic markers of right heart strain and their association with arrhythmias in patients with COPD. [Journal Article]J Electrocardiol. 2026 Jun 01; 97:154377. [Online ahead of print]JE
- CONCLUSIONS: ECG markers of right heart strain, particularly P pulmonale and RVH, are independent predictors of arrhythmias in COPD patients. ECG may serve as a simple, non-invasive tool for early risk stratification and identification of patients who may benefit from closer rhythm monitoring. The relatively small sample size and single-centre design may limit the generalizability of the findings.

- Right Ventricular Compression From Pectus Excavatum: A Reversible Cause of Ventricular Dysfunction. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e106639.C
- Pectus excavatum can rarely result in clinically significant right ventricular (RV) compression, leading to impaired diastolic filling, reduced stroke volume, and secondary biventricular dysfunction involving both the right and left ventricles. We report a 19-year-old male who presented with progressive exertional dyspnea and was found to have severe pectus excavatum with a Haller index of 5.8 on…

- Masquerading bundle branch block: An electrocardiographic harbinger of advanced conduction system disease. [Journal Article]J Electrocardiol. 2026 Apr 26; 97:154270. [Online ahead of print]JE
- CONCLUSIONS: Masquerading bundle branch block is an important but underrecognized electrocardiographic marker of advanced conduction system disease. Early identification may facilitate timely monitoring and intervention to prevent adverse outcomes related to conduction system failure.

- Severe Congenital Pulmonary Valve Stenosis Diagnosed in Adulthood: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Feb; 18(2):e103630.C
- Pulmonary valve stenosis is a congenital heart disease that is usually diagnosed during childhood, while presentation in adulthood is uncommon and may lead to delayed diagnosis. We report the case of a 21-year-old patient with no significant medical history who presented with a six-month history of exertional dyspnea and constrictive chest pain. Electrocardiography showed right axis deviation wit…

- Electrocardiographic changes in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and its correlation with airflow limitation. [Journal Article]Med J Malaysia. 2025 Dec; 80(Suppl 8):64-66.MJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings highlight the prevalence of electrocardiography changes in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients, with specific ECG anomalies demonstrating a correlation with the severity of both COPD and pulmonary functional impairment. Further research is warranted to validate these associations and explore their implications for clinical management.
- Characterisation and prognostic implications of the 12-lead electrocardiogram in children with RASopathy-associated hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. [Journal Article]Heart. 2026 May 26; 112(12):692-696.H
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that the 12-lead ECG may be a useful screening tool to distinguish RAS-HCM from s-HCM in everyday practice and could have potential implications for prediction of adverse outcomes.

- Limited Utility of Screening Electrocardiograms in Systemic Sclerosis: Data from the Canadian Scleroderma Research Group. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that conduction abnormalities are not more prevalent in those with SSc than in controls. Evidence of right heart stress on EKG in SSc may be secondary to pulmonary hypertension and left atrial enlargement, and poor R wave progression in precordial leads may indicate myocardial damage. Future studies are required to determine if these EKG abnormalities represent underlying structural heart disease, and, until that is proven, EKGs should not be considered a screening tool for cardiac abnormalities in SSc.

- Prevalence of Bundle Branch Block and Axis Deviation in Permanent Atrial Fibrillation and Gender Differences. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: There is a correlation between atrial fibrillation and left bundle branch block. The presence of left bundle branch block could be a risk factor for atrial fibrillation and the presence of left axis deviation could be a protective factor. There is no difference between female and male patients. There is a difference in the age group; young subjects with atrial fibrillation have a significant correlation with left bundle branch block, which may demonstrate a poor prognosis for patients with atrial fibrillation.

- Prevalence and relation to training of electrocardiographic findings in Caucasian children and adolescents 8- to 18-year-old practicing competitive sport. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Paediatric athletes exhibit less prominent ECG changes than their adult counterparts, requiring specific criteria. The significance of certain ECG patterns should be evaluated considering age, sex, and training level.

- Left and right axis deviation on ECG as predictors of long-term mortality. [Journal Article]J Electrocardiol. 2025 Sep-Oct; 92:154064.JE
- CONCLUSIONS: QRS axis deviation is a significant predictor of 10-year all-cause mortality and may serve as a useful tool for long-term mortality risk stratification.

- A Rare Incidental Discovery of an Intrapulmonary Shunt in a Young Man: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- An intrapulmonary shunt (IPS) occurs when blood bypasses oxygenation in the lungs, flowing directly from the right side of the heart to the left side without undergoing gas exchange. This condition is distinct from an intracardiac shunt, which involves an abnormal connection between the heart chambers or vessels, allowing atypical blood flow. In this report, we present the case of a 21-year-old m…

- Irregular rhythm with wide-QRS complexes and repolarization abnormalities in the emergency department: A nightmare ECG. [Case Reports]J Electrocardiol. 2025 May-Jun; 90:153896.JE
- We present the ECG findings of a 49-year-old woman recorded in the emergency department, which reveal a wide-QRS, irregular rhythm. The ECG shows a broad terminal wave in the right precordial leads, along with a convex ST segment elevation, and is associated with a right axis deviation. While the initial presentation may appear complex, several diagnostic possibilities must be considered, as each…
