- Single-Stage Surgical Treatment of Concurrent Meniere's Disease and Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Mar; 18(3):e105970.C
- A 34-year-old woman with concurrent Meniere's disease (MD) and superior semicircular canal dehiscence (SSCD) presented with third-window-mediated drop attacks and episodic vertigo refractory to conservative medical management. The coexistence of these conditions and the pattern of presentation suggested overlapping inner-ear pathophysiology in which abnormal third-window mechanics potentiated MD …

- Prevalence and Antimicrobial Resistance Profiles of E. coli, P. mirabilis, and E. cloacae Complex Isolated from Dogs with Otitis Externa. [Journal Article]Antibiotics (Basel). 2026 Mar 27; 15(4).A
- Background/Objectives: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in companion animals is an emerging public health threat due to zoonotic potential and limited therapeutic options. Dogs with otitis externa may harbor multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria, including Escherichia coli (E. coli), Proteus mirabilis (P. mirabilis), and Enterobacter cloacae complex (E. cloacae complex), some producing extended-spectr…

- Long-term outcomes of middle ear regenerative therapy using cell sheet transplantation combined with tympanoplasty. [Journal Article]Regen Ther. 2026 Jun; 32:101111.RT
- CONCLUSIONS: Canal wall up tympanoplasty with mastoidectomy combined with autologous nasal mucosal epithelial cell sheet transplantation is a safe and effective long-term regenerative treatment for middle ear diseases. This therapy contributes to sustained aeration and prevention of recurrence through regeneration of the middle ear mucosa and may represent the first regenerative medicine product for clinical application in otology.

- Mid- to long-term outcomes of the surgical treatment of 20 middle ear cholesteatomas in 18 French bulldogs. [Journal Article]Can J Vet Res. 2026 Apr; 90(2):49-58.CJ
- The objective of this study was to evaluate the mid- to long-term outcomes of surgical treatment for middle ear cholesteatoma in French bulldogs. A retrospective case series was conducted, reviewing medical records of 18 French bulldogs (20 ears) diagnosed with cholesteatoma and treated surgically from 2018 to 2023. Clinical presentation, imaging findings, surgical approach, histopathological and…

- Prevalence of mineralization in the para-aural region in dogs with and without ear disease. [Journal Article]Front Vet Sci. 2026; 13:1755837.FV
- Mineralization of the para-aural soft-tissue region between the tympanic bulla, hyoid apparatus and nasopharynx in dogs has not been described in veterinary literature. The objective of the study was to determine the prevalence of para-aural mineralization on head computed tomography (CT), describe its morphological features, and assess associations with middle-ear disease, body weight, age, and …

- White Matter Tracts of the Auditory Pathways in Experimental Unilateral Ear Canal Atresia. [Journal Article]Otol Neurotol. 2026 Apr 15. [Online ahead of print]ON
- CONCLUSIONS: The asymmetry found in UCA indicates alterations of auditory white matter tracts as a response to asymmetric hearing, partly confirming previous findings in experiments on ferrets.

- A 15-month-old intact female rat was presented with worsening lethargy and dysorexia present for 1 wk and bruxism present for 3 d. The diet was fruits, vegetables, and granola. On presentation, the rat was mildly dehydrated and had marked incisor malocclusion with enamel hypoplasia. On oral examination, the left mandibular molars were not visible and the gum line was prominent. Black punctate ena…

- Global, regional, and national burden of meningitis, its risk factors, and aetiologies, 1990-2023: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023. [Systematic Review]Lancet Neurol. 2026 May; 25(5):451-468.LN
- CONCLUSIONS: Although mortality and incidence have declined significantly since 1990, progress is insufficient to meet WHO 2030 targets. Despite marked progress in reducing bacterial meningitis via global vaccination campaigns, a substantial meningitis burden persists, attributable both to common pathogens such as S pneumoniae and N meningitidis and to emerging non-bacterial pathogens such as Candida spp and drug-resistant fungi. Achieving WHO goals will require sustained investment in surveillance, vaccination, maternal screening, and health-system strengthening, especially in high-burden settings.
