  • Early Prediction of Oral Precancerous Lesions Using Artificial Intelligence. [Journal Article]
Front Dent. 2026; 23:14.Rathinavelu PK, Pillai V, … Heboyan AFD
  • Objectives: Oral potentially malignant disorders may present as white, red, or mixed red-white lesions and require accurate early recognition. This study evaluated whether texture-analysis features extracted from clinical digital images could distinguish oral precancerous lesions from other oral mucosal lesions and normal mucosa using gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM), gray-level run-length …
  • Nurse-led tobacco and areca-nut cessation interventions for oral potentially malignant disorders: a systematic review. [Journal Article]
BMC Oral Health. 2026 Jul 09. [Online ahead of print]N T, N BD, … Joseph LBO
  • CONCLUSIONS: Nurse-led cessation interventions appear to be feasible and potentially effective strategies for improving behavioral and lesion-related outcomes in patients with OPMDs. However, the findings should be interpreted with caution due to the limitations of the available evidence. Integrating such models into oral health and cancer control programs may contribute to preventive oncology efforts in high-burden settings, although further high-quality research is needed to confirm their effectiveness.
  • Oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs): An overview. [Review]
Adv Immunol. 2026; 169:175-191.Bhattarai BP, Singh AK, Sapkota DAI
  • Oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) represent a wide range of oral lesions and conditions that carry a variable risk of malignant transformation to oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Clinically, the majority of OPMDs present as white and/or red lesions. Oral leukoplakia is one of the most common OPMDs. The reported global prevalence of OPMDs is 4.47%, although there is considerable var…
  • Voice Changes in Laryngeal Intraepithelial Neoplasia and Nonneoplastic Lesions. [Journal Article]
J Voice. 2026 Jun 30. [Online ahead of print]Printz T, Mehlum CS, … Grøntved ÅMJV
  • CONCLUSIONS: LIN and NNL affect the voice extensively. Assessment of voice intensity, maximum phonation time, cepstral peak prominence, self-assessed voice handicap, and overall grade of dysphonia and breathiness rated by auditory perceptual assessment, are recommended, in order to provide a standard of reference after treatment. Although patients with LIN had more hyperfunctional voices than patients with NNL, voice parameters cannot separate NNL from LIN.
  • Cultural carcinogens in oral squamous cell carcinoma risk across global populations. [Review]
    Oncoscience. 2026; 13:210-219.Nowak NC, Forsyth A, … Mansini APO
  • Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is one of the most prevalent cancers worldwide, leading to significant illness and death, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. In addition to tobacco, alcohol, and human papillomavirus (HPV), several culturally ingrained practices, such as areca nut chewing, toombak, khat, reverse smoking, and hot mate drinking, remain underrecognized but important…
