- [Effect of the amount of inferior rectus muscle recession on lower eyelid position in thyroid eye disease]. [Journal Article]Vestn Oftalmol. 2026; 142(4):14-18.VO
- CONCLUSIONS: The degree of LE retraction increases during the postoperative period and reaches maximum values by 3-6 months. After LE position stabilizes at 3 months or later, a weak positive correlation is observed between the amount of IRM recession and the degree of LE retraction. However, its severity appears to depend not only on the amount of recession but also on a complex of individual anatomical features and the degree of tissue involvement in the pathological process.

- Equine Fungal Keratitis due to Cladorrhinum bulbillosum. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: C. bulbillosum infection caused equine fungal keratitis in this case. The use of topical voriconazole and luliconazole, combined with surgical intervention (keratectomy, cryotherapy, bio scaffold graft), resulted in a good response. The corneal ulcer healed well with minor scarring over 8 weeks following surgical intervention. To the authors' knowledge, this was the second report of equine fungal keratitis caused by C. bulbillosum. This case highlights the utility of next-generation DNA sequencing and multimodal treatment with adjunctive contemporary therapies.

- CONCLUSIONS: Molecular diagnostics are crucial for species identification in atypical PCM presentations, especially in co-endemic areas. Enhanced surveillance, training, and mandatory reporting are needed to reduce misdiagnosis and delays in endemic regions.

- Longitudinal Changes in Clonal Distribution and Fluoroquinolone Resistance of Ocular MRSA. [Journal Article]Biomed J. 2026 Aug 13; :101033. [Online ahead of print]BJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Ocular MRSA infections in Taiwan demonstrate longitudinal changes in clonal distribution, characterized by declining CC59 and increasing CC8, and a concurrent increase in fluoroquinolone-resistant CC8. This evolution may compromise fluoroquinolone-based empirical therapy, a cornerstone of first-line treatment for ocular infections, and highlights the importance of continued molecular surveillance.

- Clinical Characteristics of Lipoid Proteinosis and Long-Term Outcomes of Microlaryngosurgery. [Journal Article]Laryngoscope. 2026 Aug 12. [Online ahead of print]L
- CONCLUSIONS: Lipoid proteinosis typically presents with infantile-onset persistent hoarseness due to diffuse vocal fold deposits. Microlaryngosurgery significantly improves laryngeal morphology and vocal quality with stable long-term outcomes. Vocal fold fat injection may serve as an effective supplementary treatment for selected patients. Early recognition and surgical intervention are crucial for optimizing voice outcomes.

- Sequential Photodynamic Therapy and Electrochemotherapy for Bilateral Palpebral Squamous Cell Carcinoma in a Cat: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this single case report, PDT was associated with clinical regression of superficial lesions, while adjuvant ECT was followed by complete clinical resolution of the residual lesion. The combination of these modalities represents a viable conservative alternative to extensive surgical excision, enabling the tumor remission while preserving the aesthetic appearance and functional integrity of the eyelid.

- Gouty tophus on the eyelid. [Case Reports]
- A gouty tophus on the eyelid is a casuistic flash in the routine biopsy flow. There has been a 12th case reported in the literature, along with an analysis of the distribution by age, sex, location, size, and symptoms. Male gender predominates (10:2) within a wide age range (26-79 years), after a several-year history of gout, affecting mainly the canthi and, in only 4 cases, the middle area of th…

- CONCLUSIONS: Favorable survival in patients with ORMS was preserved despite shifts in treatment strategies. Patients with localized alveolar ARMS and recurrent ORMS had favorable survival. Infants < 1 year and those ≥ 1 with metastatic disease had poor prognosis and require new therapeutic approaches.

- Upper eyelid cicatricial ectropion following herpes zoster ophthalmicus: a rare case with surgical management. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Full-thickness skin grafting may be a practical reconstructive option for selected cases of post-HZO upper eyelid cicatricial ectropion when surgery is timed after resolution of active inflammation and donor-site selection accounts for eyelid color, thickness, and pliability. Broader treatment recommendations require additional cases with objective functional measurements and longer follow-up.

- Considerations for nanoscale drug-delivery systems for the cornea. [Review]Nanomedicine (Lond). 2026 Aug 07; :1-18. [Online ahead of print]N
- Drug delivery in cornea remains a challenge due to its unique dome shape, anatomy, epithelial barrier, rapid drug clearance, and eyelid blinking. Nanoscale-based drug delivery systems are particularly attractive for treating corneal diseases due to sustained local drug release without major side effects. Nano drug delivery systems have potential to overcome many limitations including drug's resid…

- Atypical orbital metastasis from invasive lobular breast carcinoma masquerading as a hordeolum. [Case Reports]BMJ Case Rep. 2026 Aug 04; 19(8).BC
- Metastatic spread of invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) to the eyelid is exceedingly rare and may masquerade as benign disease. We describe a woman in her 60s with a history of multifocal, estrogen receptor-positive ILC who presented with progressive, painless right periorbital swelling mimicking cellulitis. She was initially managed for presumed hordeolum and preseptal cellulitis without response …

- FAERS database reveals latent signals of neuro-ophthalmic toxicity associated with immune checkpoint inhibitors: feature mining and clinical warnings. [Journal Article]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1696617.FI
- CONCLUSIONS: This study delineated potential neuro-ophthalmic positive disproportionality signals across seven ICIs, revealing demographic variations in signal reporting frequency with higher susceptibility among males and elderly patients. Pembrolizumab and avelumab were associated with higher reporting frequencies of neuro-ophthalmic adverse events, which were related to poor visual outcomes. Consequently, prompt recognition and management of neuro-ophthalmic irAEs are imperative to enhance ICI safety profiles in clinical practice.

- Safe Use of Adrenaline in Cryosurgery for Eyelid Basal Cell Carcinoma Evaluated With Infrared Thermography. [Journal Article]Int Wound J. 2026 Aug; 23(8):e71005.IW
- The efficacy of cryosurgery for skin cancers is believed to depend on thaw time, which may be influenced by the presence of adrenaline in local anaesthetics due to its vasoconstrictive effects. This is the first study to perform detailed, non-invasive temperature measurements using infrared (IR) thermography during cryosurgery for basal cell carcinomas (BCCs), evaluating the impact of adrenaline …
