  • [Effect of the amount of inferior rectus muscle recession on lower eyelid position in thyroid eye disease]. [Journal Article]
Vestn Oftalmol. 2026; 142(4):14-18.Grusha YO, Sergeeva MS, Danilov SSVO
  • CONCLUSIONS: The degree of LE retraction increases during the postoperative period and reaches maximum values by 3-6 months. After LE position stabilizes at 3 months or later, a weak positive correlation is observed between the amount of IRM recession and the degree of LE retraction. However, its severity appears to depend not only on the amount of recession but also on a complex of individual anatomical features and the degree of tissue involvement in the pathological process.
  • Equine Fungal Keratitis due to Cladorrhinum bulbillosum. [Case Reports]
Vet Ophthalmol. 2026 Sep; 29(5):e70249.Hamilton A, Lacy L, Scherrer NVO
  • CONCLUSIONS: C. bulbillosum infection caused equine fungal keratitis in this case. The use of topical voriconazole and luliconazole, combined with surgical intervention (keratectomy, cryotherapy, bio scaffold graft), resulted in a good response. The corneal ulcer healed well with minor scarring over 8 weeks following surgical intervention. To the authors' knowledge, this was the second report of equine fungal keratitis caused by C. bulbillosum. This case highlights the utility of next-generation DNA sequencing and multimodal treatment with adjunctive contemporary therapies.
  • Longitudinal Changes in Clonal Distribution and Fluoroquinolone Resistance of Ocular MRSA. [Journal Article]
Biomed J. 2026 Aug 13; :101033. [Online ahead of print]Hsiao CH, Kang EY, … Huang YCBJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: Ocular MRSA infections in Taiwan demonstrate longitudinal changes in clonal distribution, characterized by declining CC59 and increasing CC8, and a concurrent increase in fluoroquinolone-resistant CC8. This evolution may compromise fluoroquinolone-based empirical therapy, a cornerstone of first-line treatment for ocular infections, and highlights the importance of continued molecular surveillance.
  • Clinical Characteristics of Lipoid Proteinosis and Long-Term Outcomes of Microlaryngosurgery. [Journal Article]
    Laryngoscope. 2026 Aug 12. [Online ahead of print]Liu X, Lin Y, … Xu WL
  • CONCLUSIONS: Lipoid proteinosis typically presents with infantile-onset persistent hoarseness due to diffuse vocal fold deposits. Microlaryngosurgery significantly improves laryngeal morphology and vocal quality with stable long-term outcomes. Vocal fold fat injection may serve as an effective supplementary treatment for selected patients. Early recognition and surgical intervention are crucial for optimizing voice outcomes.
  • Gouty tophus on the eyelid. [Case Reports]
    Rom J Ophthalmol. 2026 Apr-Jun; 70(2):322-325.Anavi BL, Stoyanova NSRJ
  • A gouty tophus on the eyelid is a casuistic flash in the routine biopsy flow. There has been a 12th case reported in the literature, along with an analysis of the distribution by age, sex, location, size, and symptoms. Male gender predominates (10:2) within a wide age range (26-79 years), after a several-year history of gout, affecting mainly the canthi and, in only 4 cases, the middle area of th…
  • Tardive blepharospasm. [Journal Article]
    J Neurol. 2026 Aug 10; 273(9).Baizabal-Carvallo JF, Jankovic JJN
  • CONCLUSIONS: Tardive BSP, identified in one-fifth of patients with diverse tardive syndromes, has distinct features differing from idiopathic BSP.
  • Considerations for nanoscale drug-delivery systems for the cornea. [Review]
Nanomedicine (Lond). 2026 Aug 07; :1-18. [Online ahead of print]Kumar R, Sinha NR, … Mohan RRN
  • Drug delivery in cornea remains a challenge due to its unique dome shape, anatomy, epithelial barrier, rapid drug clearance, and eyelid blinking. Nanoscale-based drug delivery systems are particularly attractive for treating corneal diseases due to sustained local drug release without major side effects. Nano drug delivery systems have potential to overcome many limitations including drug's resid…
  • Atypical orbital metastasis from invasive lobular breast carcinoma masquerading as a hordeolum. [Case Reports]
    BMJ Case Rep. 2026 Aug 04; 19(8).Mamidipaka A, Briceño C, Lee VBC
  • Metastatic spread of invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) to the eyelid is exceedingly rare and may masquerade as benign disease. We describe a woman in her 60s with a history of multifocal, estrogen receptor-positive ILC who presented with progressive, painless right periorbital swelling mimicking cellulitis. She was initially managed for presumed hordeolum and preseptal cellulitis without response …
