- Post-COVID-19 Jaw Osteonecrosis: A Narrative Review. [Review]Medicina (Kaunas). 2026 Mar 27; 62(4).M
- Background and Objectives: Osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) occurring after infection with SARS-CoV-2 has emerged as an increasingly reported complication in the post-COVID-19 era. Post-COVID-19 osteonecrosis of the jaw (PC-ONJ) has been described in association with both COVID-19-associated mucormycosis (CAM) and non-fungal phenotypes. This narrative review aims to synthesize and critically analyz…

- Platelet-Rich Fibrin in Surgical Wound Healing of Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw: A Pilot Clinical Study. [Clinical Trial]Int J Mol Sci. 2026 Apr 20; 27(8).IJ
- Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) represents a major clinical challenge for oral and maxillofacial surgery departments as well as dental practices. With increasing life expectancy and the more frequent use of medications associated with osteonecrosis, the incidence of MRONJ continues to rise. To date, there are no uniform treatment standards with scientifically proven effectiven…

- Interprofessional collaboration for the management of orofacial pain: a delphi study in the Netherlands. [Journal Article]BMC Oral Health. 2026 May 01. [Online ahead of print]BO
- CONCLUSIONS: Interprofessional collaboration in the form of communication and, for complex cases, interprofessional consults, is recommended for patients with complex orofacial pain. All healthcare providers have their own role during the diagnostic and management process, depending on the complaints and needs of the patient.

- Novel Case Report of a Rare Symptomatic Orofacial Burkitt's Lymphoma. [Journal Article]Case Rep Dent. 2026; 2026:9669783.CR
- Burkitt lymphoma is a very fast-growing non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) characterized by rapid tumor progression and increased lymphocyte proliferation. It often involves the jaw and facial bones. The current case report represented a 37-year-old male patient with Burkitt's lymphoma who sought dental care for persistent and dull pain and paresthesia on the left side of his mandible extending to the pe…

- Clinical and early biochemical responses to botulinum toxin type-A in refractory masticatory myofascial pain: a pilot single-arm study. [Journal Article]BMC Oral Health. 2026 Apr 30. [Online ahead of print]BO
- CONCLUSIONS: BoNT-A produced measurable clinical improvements and modulated biochemical profiles in refractory MMP. Similar trends observed in serum and saliva suggest that salivary biomarkers may provide a noninvasive approach for monitoring biochemical responses. Given the exploratory design and limited sample size, these findings should be interpreted with caution. Larger, controlled trials with extended follow-up are needed to clarify BoNT-A's mechanisms and long-term effects.

- Single-cell RNA sequencing of healthy and diseased rat temporomandibular joint condyle cartilage. [Journal Article]PLoS One. 2026; 21(4):e0348175.Plos
- Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that disrupts the cellular homeostasis within cartilage tissues, promoting further disease progression that can lead to debilitating pain. Cartilage of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is unique among diarthrodial joints because they are of neural crest origin, rather than the mesoderm germ layer. TMJ cartilage also has different cellular architectu…

- A phantom study on the evaluation of the YOLOv8 deep learning model in the detection of tooth ankylosis on cone-beam computed tomography images. [Journal Article]Head Face Med. 2026 Apr 29. [Online ahead of print]HF
- This study aimed to assess the performance of a deep learning algorithm for detecting tooth ankylosis on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans. A dataset of CBCT scans taken from phantoms simulating tooth ankylosis, including 60 teeth and a total of 4971 axial sections, was used to design an ankylosis detection model using the YOLOv8 algorithm. The first dataset (42 teeth, 70%) with 3822 axi…

- A rare maxillary lesion: a case report of developing complex odontoma in the left maxilla of a 5-year-old child. [Case Reports]Front Dent Med. 2026; 7:1760785.FD
- CONCLUSIONS: Pediatric maxillary developing complex odontoma often presents with subtle symptoms and atypical imaging features, leading to delayed diagnosis. Multimodal imaging combined with pathological examination enables accurate diagnosis. Complete excision via curettage, accompanied by long-term follow-up, effectively restores maxillary structure and function, supports normal dental development, and reduces recurrence risk, making it a viable treatment strategy for pediatric maxillary developing complex odontoma.
