- Association of intraoperative cell salvage combined with standard allogeneic transfusion with hematological parameters and clinical outcomes in pediatric tracheoplasty: a non-randomized cohort study. [Journal Article]Front Pediatr. 2026; 14:1755494.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: IOCS combined with allogeneic transfusion was associated with better postoperative hematological and coagulation profiles, reduced allogeneic blood requirements, and shorter hospital stay. No transfusion-related adverse reactions or deaths were observed. These findings warrant confirmation in prospective randomized studies.

- Post-operative Urinary Tract Infection After Pediatric Pyeloplasty: A Multicenter Analysis of Drain Type, Surgical Approach, and Prophylactic Antibiotics. [Journal Article]Urology. 2026 Aug 17. [Online ahead of print]U
- CONCLUSIONS: Drainage configuration, not antibiotic prophylaxis, is the principal determinant of infection risk after pediatric pyeloplasty. Routine post-discharge prophylaxis confers no measurable benefit and may reasonably be withheld in patients managed with an internal stent, supporting a risk-stratified approach guided by drain selection.

- Central Nervous System Infections in Pediatric Solid Organ Transplant Recipients. [Journal Article]Pediatr Transplant. 2026 Aug; 30(8):e70432.PT
- CONCLUSIONS: CNS infections in SOT recipients are rare and presentation can be non-specific, though associated with a high mortality. These findings highlight the importance of maintaining clinical awareness of CNS infection in SOT recipients.

- Outpatient versus inpatient flexible ureteroscopy with flexible and navigable suction access sheath: A multicenter comparative analysis of perioperative outcomes from the flexible and navigable access sheath collaborative study group. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Outpatient FURS with FANS demonstrates excellent outcomes, with a low rate of minor complications. These findings support the broader adoption of outpatient RIRS in patients with kidney stones and normal renal anatomy, provided that patient selection and intraoperative planning are appropriately optimized.

- Antegrade versus retrograde ureteroscopy for large proximal ureteric stones: a meta-analysis. [Review]BJU Int. 2026 Aug 15. [Online ahead of print]BI
- CONCLUSIONS: For large proximal ureteric stones, antegrade ureteroscopy offers superior stone clearance and fewer auxiliary procedures than retrograde ureteroscopy, at the cost of longer operative time, longer hospital stay, and higher haematuria rates. These findings support antegrade ureteroscopy when definitive single-stage stone clearance is the primary treatment goal.

- Prophylactic antibiotics after peroral endoscopic myotomy may not significantly reduce postprocedural fever or infection: a propensity score matching analysis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Routine prophylactic antibiotics after POEM for patients with achalasia may not significantly reduce postprocedural fever, infection, or length of hospital stay.

- De Garengeot Hernia Complicated by Groin Abscess and Perforated Appendix: A Case Report and Literature Review. [Journal Article]Clin Case Rep. 2026 Aug; 14(8):e73337.CC
- De Garengeot hernia, defined as the presence of the vermiform appendix within a femoral hernia sac, is a rare cause of acute groin pathology and often presents atypically. We report the case of a 60-year-old male with diabetes mellitus and chronic corticosteroid use who presented with fever and a painful, erythematous, non-reducible right groin swelling without abdominal symptoms. Laboratory inve…

- Simultaneous endoscopic management of prostatic and seminal vesicle abscess using holmium laser enucleation of the prostate and seminal vesiculoscopy: a case series. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: HoLEP appears to be a viable option for PA drainage and simultaneous relief of bladder-outlet obstruction. Combined HoLEP plus seminal vesiculoscopy may offer a feasible, single-access minimally invasive strategy for complex prostatovesicular abscesses, though long-term follow-up is necessary to definitively confirm efficacy and recurrence rates.

- Comparative study of preoperative with postoperative diagnosis in acute abdomen. [Journal Article]Ann Med Surg (Lond). 2026 Aug; 88(8):5006-5013.AM
- CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights the critical nature of accurate preoperative diagnosis in acute abdomen cases and the potential for improved patient outcomes through enhanced investigative strategies. For better outcomes in patients with acute abdomen, early diagnosis based on clinical findings, supported by laboratory and radiological correlation, followed by timely decision-making regarding operative management, is of utmost importance.

- Clinically Silent Presentation of Acalculous Gangrenous Cholecystitis: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Jul; 18(7):e112491.C
- Acalculous gangrenous cholecystitis is a rare, life-threatening form of acute cholecystitis associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Neurological deficits may obscure early recognition of severe intra-abdominal pathology, contributing to delayed diagnosis and potentially worse clinical outcomes. We report a case of a 43-year-old male with recent intracerebral hemorrhage and residual r…

- Clinical factors associated with postoperative fever after bipolar TURP and GreenLight laser vaporization: a retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]Front Surg. 2026; 13:1847729.FS
- CONCLUSIONS: Several preoperative and procedural factors were associated with postoperative fever after bTURP or GL-PVP. These associations are hypothesis-generating and should not be interpreted as causal. Because exact fever onset, complete SIRS components, culture specimen source, and standardized perioperative antibiotic protocols were unavailable, the microbiological findings should be interpreted as exploratory local surveillance data.

- Idiopathic small bowel volvulus in an adult without prior surgery: a case report. [Case Reports]Int J Surg Case Rep. 2026 Aug; 138(8):3173-3176.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Idiopathic SBV in adults without prior surgery is rare and diagnostically challenging, often presenting with nonspecific symptoms. Clinical vigilance and prompt surgical intervention remain essential, as imaging should not delay treatment in critically ill patients. Systematic documentation of such cases is needed to better define risk factors and strategies for recurrence prevention. In the present case, timely surgery led to a favorable postoperative recovery.
