- Rare Postoperative Pelvic Lymphocyst Infection by Streptococcus mitis/oralis: A Case Study. [Case Reports]Int Med Case Rep J. 2026; 19:584541.IM
- Lymphatic cyst with infection is caused by interruption of lymphatic vessels during para-aortic lymphnode dissection in patients with gynecological malignancies. It is generally considered that the infection is caused by bacteria invading through the lower limb and perineal wound, but the pathogenic factors of most lymphatic cysts are not clear. Our literature search revealed no previously report…

- Synchronous bilateral phyllodes tumors with discordant grades and false-positive axillary 18F-FDG PET-CT uptake: a case report and literature review. [Case Reports]Front Oncol. 2026; 16:1825190.FO
- Phyllodes tumors are uncommon fibroepithelial breast neoplasms with variable biologic behavior. Synchronous bilateral phyllodes tumors are exceptionally rare, and the interpretation of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET-CT) may be confounded by tumor necrosis and inflammation, leading to false-positive nodal staging.

- Background: Achondroplasia, the most common genetic dwarfism caused by the FGFR3 mutation (autosomal dominant, 80% de novo), results in a disproportionately short stature. Thoracolumbar kyphosis (TLK), combined with characteristic spinal canal stenosis, increases the risk of symptomatic compression, yet the literature lacks clear thresholds for symptom onset or progressive deformity angles. - Objective: Acute colonic pseudo-obstruction (ACPO), also known as Ogilvie syndrome, is a rare but serious complication following cesarean section (CS). Identifying factors associated with its occurrence is critical for early recognition and prevention. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to synthesize available evidence on factors associated with ACPO following CS. Methods: We performe…

- The value of preoperative CD4[+] T-cell count in predicting infectious complications after endoscopic lithotripsy for upper urinary tract calculi among human immunodeficiency virus-infected patients. [Journal Article]BMC Infect Dis. 2026 May 03. [Online ahead of print]BI
- CONCLUSIONS: In this retrospective single-center cohort, preoperative CD4[+] T-cell count was not significantly associated with postoperative fever after endoscopic lithotripsy in HIV-infected patients. However, because no urosepsis events occurred and the sample size, particularly in the CD4[+] T-cell count < 200 cells/µL subgroup, was limited, the study could not adequately evaluate the primary endpoint. These findings should therefore be considered exploratory and require confirmation in larger studies incorporating HIV viral load and procedure-specific analyses.

- Giant mucinous cystic neoplasm of the liver in a young asymptomatic woman: A case report. [Case Reports]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 May 01; 105(18):e48635.M
- CONCLUSIONS: When a very large hepatic cystic lesion is identified in a young woman, especially with elevated CA19-9 and septal enhancement on magnetic resonance imaging, MCN-L should be considered in the differential diagnosis. Because preoperative diagnosis can be difficult, careful assessment of lesion size, internal architecture, and its relationship to major vessels is essential. Complete surgical resection with negative margins remains the preferred treatment, as it reduces the risks of recurrence and malignant transformation.

- Enterobius vermicularis, commonly known as the pinworm, is a prevalent intestinal nematode, particularly affecting children worldwide. Although infection is often asymptomatic, it may occasionally lead to complications, including appendiceal involvement. The role of E. vermicularis in the pathogenesis of acute appendicitis remains controversial and is frequently overlooked. We report a case of a …
