- Benign intra-articular soft tissue tumors mimicking hip septic arthritis: an arthroscopic case series with tenosynovial giant cell tumor predominance. [Journal Article]BMC Musculoskelet Disord. 2026 Jun 05. [Online ahead of print]BM
- CONCLUSIONS: Differentiating benign intra-articular tumors from SAH remains difficult, particularly among younger and female patient populations with acute presentations of TGCT which, as observed in the present study, may be explained by histopathologic evidence of tumor pedicle torsion and resultant necrosis. MRI can be valuable in identifying intra-articular lesions given that clinical and laboratory findings are frequently equivocal. The proposed diagnostic algorithm offers a framework for identifying cases where preoperative MRI may be beneficial, though it requires validation in larger studies.

- Effectiveness of prophylactic single-dose IV antibiotic versus postoperative multi-dose oral antibiotic regimen for preventing surgical site infections: A prospective comparative study. [Journal Article]Turk J Surg. 2026 Jun 04; 42(2):233-238.TJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Single-dose IV prophylaxis was as effective as postoperative multi-dose oral antibiotics in preventing SSIs in clean elective surgeries. Short-course prophylaxis is sufficient in this setting and supports rational antibiotic stewardship.

- Risk factors for early reintervention in patients with cryopreserved homografts in the pulmonary position. [Journal Article]Rev Esp Cardiol (Engl Ed). 2026 Jun 02. [Online ahead of print]RE
- CONCLUSIONS: Early reintervention is associated with postoperative inflammatory markers and immediate suboptimal homograft function. These findings support and refine previous observations on early homograft dysfunction and may help identify patients who warrant closer postoperative surveillance.

- Gastric perforation due to distal catheter migration in an adult patient with a ventriculoperitoneal shunt: A case report. [Case Reports]Surg Neurol Int. 2026; 17:271.SN
- CONCLUSIONS: Gastric perforation related to VPS is uncommon and should be considered in patients with unexplained or nonspecific symptoms who carry a VPS. Management should be tailored to the patient's clinical and infection status.

- Spontaneous Perforation of Pyometra in a Postmenopausal Woman with Intrauterine Device Presenting with Septic Shock: A Case Report and Review of Published Cases. [Case Reports]Int J Womens Health. 2026; 18:612568.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: SPP should be considered in the differential diagnosis for a postmenopausal woman presenting with acute abdomen and pneumoperitoneum. Early CT evaluation, prompt source-control surgery, and empirical antibiotics with coverage against Enterobacteriaceae and anaerobes are essential to reduce mortality. Antibiotic therapy should be guided by culture and susceptibility testing.

- Short-term efficacy and safety of percutaneous ultrasound-guided pseudomonas aeruginosa-mannose sensitive hemagglutinin injection in postoperative chyle fistula: a cohort study. [Journal Article]Front Surg. 2026; 13:1829380.FS
- CONCLUSIONS: Percutaneous ultrasound-guided PA-MSHA injection may serve as a practical adjunct to conservative therapy for postoperative chyle fistula, with a significant reduction in hospitalization duration after IPTW adjustment. Further prospective studies are needed to validate its efficacy and define its optimal clinical application.

- PurposeHead and neck unicentric Castleman disease (HN-UCD) often lacks specific clinical and laboratory markers, leading to frequent preoperative misdiagnoses. While surgical resection typically offers a favorable prognosis, the management of atypical postoperative outcomes, such as new regional lymphadenopathy or persistent systemic symptoms, remains poorly defined. This study aimed to identify …

- Research progress on treating urinary system stones using ureteroscopy combined With a negative-pressure suction sheath. [Review]Front Surg. 2026; 13:1840426.FS
- Ureteroscopy, which is now one of the primary treatments for kidney and ureteral stones, can suffer from unstable vision due to debris and fluid retention, fragment and dust migration, and temporary increases in intrarenal pressure resulting in infectious complications in vulnerable patients. Negative-pressure suction sheaths were introduced as an aid to ureteroscopy to assist in evacuating debri…

- Management of post-cesarean pelvic abscess in the uterine scar: A case report and mini-review of the literature. [Case Reports]Med Int (Lond). 2026 Jul-Aug; 6(4):39.MI
- Cesarean section is among the most frequently performed surgical procedures worldwide. In recent years, the increasing rate of cesarean deliveries has led to an increased incidence of post-operative complications. The present case report describes a rare case of a post-operative pelvic abscess located at the uterine scar following a cesarean section, managed successfully via laparotomy. The patie…

- Fulminant cerebral edema in the setting of acute dengue fever after mechanical thrombectomy in a patient with massive stroke and severe hypoalbuminemia: a case report. [Case Reports]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1759313.FM
- CONCLUSIONS: This report suggests that the fulminant cerebral edema observed in this patient may have been related to blood-brain barrier (BBB) vulnerability following ischemia-reperfusion injury, together with superimposed systemic inflammatory stress and markedly reduced oncotic buffering capacity. Acute dengue infection may have acted as a systemic endothelial and inflammatory stressor during the post-reperfusion vulnerable period, rather than as an independent primary cause. Severe hypoalbuminemia may have represented a baseline physiological susceptibility condition that reduced tolerance to fluid shift once BBB integrity was compromised.

- Clinical features and risk factors for outcomes of postoperative bacterial meningitis in pediatric neurosurgery: a retrospective study from 2013 to 2023. [Journal Article]Front Pediatr. 2026; 14:1749579.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: Postoperative bacterial meningitis in children who have undergone neurosurgery has atypical clinical manifestations. Gram-positive bacteria are the main pathogens, but Gram-negative bacteria predominate in early postoperative infections (within 1 month), with Acinetobacter baumannii accounting for 45.8% and showing high carbapenem resistance. Pulmonary infection, mechanical ventilation duration ≥7 days, and GCS score ≤8 are associated with in-hospital mortality, necessitating early identification and intervention.
