- Possible Association Between Etanercept Use During Breastfeeding and Infant Somnolence, Hypotonia, and Feeding Difficulties: A Case Report and Literature Review. [Journal Article]Breastfeed Med. 2026 May 06; :15568253261446227. [Online ahead of print]BM
- CONCLUSIONS: This case illustrates the difficulty of interpreting adverse events in breastfed infants exposed to maternal biologic medications. Although current evidence suggests no clinically severe adverse effects, minimal infant exposure, and a low risk of clinically relevant immunosuppression with etanercept during breastfeeding, individualized counseling and careful monitoring of exposed infants remain essential.

- Pulmonary valve endocarditis in a postpartum patient: a case report of unconventional risk. [Case Reports]Ann Med Surg (Lond). 2026 May; 88(5):2911-2916.AM
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights right-sided infective endocarditis (RSIE) as a rare but serious complication in the postpartum period, even in patients without traditional risk factors. The postpartum state marked by progesterone-driven immunosuppression, hemodynamic stress, and anemia-induced immune dysfunction, may predispose women to atypical infections, including culture-negative endocarditis.

- [Infectious sacroiliitis during pregnancy and the postpartum period: A case report and literature review]. [Journal Article]Rev Med Interne. 2026 Apr 29. [Online ahead of print]RM
- CONCLUSIONS: Diagnosis, often delayed, should be considered in any patient presenting with febrile lumbar or buttock pain during pregnancy or postpartum. The absence of fever does not rule out the diagnosis. MRI is the imaging modality of choice. Treatment relies on antibiotic therapy, sometimes combined with surgery, with generally favourable outcomes.

- Development of a rapid calcium testing strip with metal-enhanced fluorescence for early detection of hypocalcemia in dairy cattle. [Journal Article]
- Hypocalcemia (milk fever) is a severe metabolic disease in dairy cattle, affecting up to 50% of multiparous cows postpartum and leading to significant economic losses and increased risk of secondary disorders. Rapid, low cost, and on-site detection of low blood calcium levels (< 1.1 mM) is needed for timely intervention, yet current diagnostic methods are costly, complex, or require centralized l…

- We present the case of a 39-year-old Indian female patient diagnosed with tuberculous mastitis and lymph node tuberculosis. The patient had a history of tuberculosis infection treatment as a newborn. She initially presented with symptoms including fever, weight loss, and coughing. Clinical examination revealed a newly developed mass in the right breast. Diagnostic workup included an 18F-FDG PET-C…

- Development of a predictive model for maternal satisfaction with epidural analgesia based on perinatal complications. [Journal Article]Sci Rep. 2026 Apr 24. [Online ahead of print]SR
- Maternal satisfaction with labor epidural analgesia is a clinically relevant patient-centered outcome influenced by analgesic efficacy, the care process, and perinatal complications. This retrospective cohort study analyzed de-identified clinical records and routinely collected postpartum satisfaction assessments from 2221 parturients who received labor epidural analgesia at Fujian Maternity and …

- Emphysematous endometritis following postpartum uterine artery embolization: A case report. [Case Reports]Case Rep Womens Health. 2026 Jun; 50:e00810.CR
- Emphysematous endometritis is a rarely described clinical entity. The present report describes the case of a 44 -year-old woman who presented 2 weeks postpartum with abdominal pain, malodorous vaginal discharge, fever, and paresthesia in the setting of uterine embolization. Imaging showed emphysematous changes in the wall of the uterus. Histology of the hysterectomy sample showed acute suppurativ…

- Drugs and Lactation Database (LactMed): Acupuncture [BOOK]Drugs and Lactation Database (LactMed). National Library of Medicine (US): Bethesda (MD).BOOK
- Acupuncture at traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) sites used to treat low milk supply has been claimed to cause release of prolactin and oxytocin, although published studies have found mixed results on serum prolactin. In one study, acupuncture did not affect prolactin hyperresponsiveness after stimulation with metoclopramide in women with amenorrhea-galactorrhea syndrome. Galactorrhea has been r…
- The impact of Vaginal Flora Screening in the third trimester on pregnancy outcomes in primiparas undergoing vaginal delivery: a retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]BMC Pregnancy Childbirth. 2026 Apr 11. [Online ahead of print]BP
- CONCLUSIONS: Abnormal vaginal flora colonization is associated with an increased risk of maternal perinatal infection, without a corresponding increase in neonatal infection. These findings support the implementation of third-trimester vaginal flora screening and appropriate treatment for pregnant women planning vaginal delivery.

- Infectious Pubic Symphysitis: An Atypical Infection Not to Be Overlooked. [Journal Article]Clin Case Rep. 2026 Apr; 14(4):e72506.CC
- The pubic symphysis is a rare site for septic arthritis. We report a case of infectious pubic symphysitis occurring in the postpartum period. A 33-year-old woman, gravida 2, para 2, with one living child and one stillbirth at 6 months of gestation was admitted 10 days postpartum with pubalgia and bilateral subacute inflammatory hip pain associated with fever. Initial examination revealed systemic…

- CONCLUSIONS: In parturients who developed paresthesia during combined spinal-epidural labor analgesia, epidural administration of dexamethasone or methylprednisolone resulted in comparable neurological outcomes at 14 days postpartum.

- Infective endocarditis (IE) is a life-threatening condition that can lead to valvular destruction, systemic embolization, and multiorgan failure. While IE typically presents with fever and murmur, acute myocardial infarction (MI) is a rare initial manifestation, particularly in postpartum women. We report the case of a 34-year-old postpartum female who presented with chest pain and hypotension. E…

- Auricular magnetic bead acupressure improves postpartum sleep quality and fatigue, and reduces epidural-related maternal fever in primiparas: a randomized controlled trial. [Clinical Trial]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1788646.FM
- CONCLUSIONS: Auricular magnetic bead acupressure effectively enhances postpartum sleep quality and alleviates fatigue in primiparas receiving epidural analgesia, while also reducing the incidence of ERMF. The underlying mechanism may involve the modulation of neuroendocrine and immune system functions. AMBA constitutes a safe, non-invasive, and non-pharmacological intervention strategy that is well-suited for comprehensive perinatal management.
