- Effect of Low-Dye Taping on Pain, Foot Function, and Balance in Patients with Plantar Fasciitis: A Randomized Controlled Trial. [Journal Article]Sportverletz Sportschaden. 2026 May 05. [Online ahead of print]SS
- This study aimed to investigate the effects of low-dye taping on plantar pain, foot functional performance, and balance in patients with plantar fasciitis. A total of 36 patients with plantar fasciitis were randomly assigned to an experimental group that received low-dye taping with general physical therapy, while the control group only received general physical therapy twice a week for 4 weeks. …

- BackgroundMusculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), which impose significant economic and mental health burdens, are a major public health concerns among older population globally. However, evidence on the intersection between MSDs and depression among older adults in India remains limited.ObjectiveThe objective of the study is to investigate the association between musculoskeletal disorders and depressi…

- Supraspinal Correlates of Patients with Chronic Pain Under Burst Spinal Cord Stimulation: A Proof-of-Concept Functional MRI Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: BurstDR SCS reduced pain intensity and improved functional status associated with task-related activation of the motor cortex, which was reproducible across the entire cohort. Further randomized controlled studies are warranted to validate these findings and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms.

- Imaging findings of foot and ankle injuries in dancers. [Review]
- Dancers are performing artists and elite athletes with unique physiological and psychological demands. Many dance styles, especially classical ballet, require extraordinary flexibility and strength throughout the foot and ankle with remarkable pain tolerance. Injuries arising from biomechanical and metabolic stresses negatively impact career progression with resultant chronic pain, permanently im…

- Developing a Community-Based Exercise and Physical Programme for Runners With Patellofemoral Pain in Under-Resourced Communities: A Delphi Study. [Journal Article]Physiother Can. 2025 Aug; 77(3):313-320.PC
- CONCLUSIONS: A consensus was reached for a suitable exercise and physical programme for runners in under-resourced communities. A follow-up implementation study is, therefore, recommended.

- Parallel processing chains span cytoarchitectures to organize association cortex. [Journal Article]bioRxiv. 2026 Apr 22.B
- Task fMRI 1 and electrophysiology 2 have revealed distributed, linked cortical patches with shared category preferences (e.g., faces, objects, places) 1,3-5 , smaller than cytoarchitectonic areas. Resting-state functional connectivity (RSFC) similarly showed that somato-cognitive action network (SCAN) nodes interleave with effectors (foot, hand, mouth), subdividing the precentral gyrus 6 . Here, …

- Reconstruction of Aggressive Grade 3 Calcaneal Giant Cell Tumour with Femoral Head Allograft: A Case Report. [Journal Article]Malays Orthop J. 2026 Mar; 20(1):157-161.MO
- Giant Cell Tumour (GCT) of bone is a benign, locally aggressive neoplasm. GCT of the foot is rare, comprising of about 5% of cases of all GCTs. GCT of Calcaneus is exceedingly rare, comprising of 1.2% of all calcaneal tumours. Due to its uncommon occurrence at this site, diagnosis can be delayed. In this report, we present the case of a Campanacci Grade 3 GCT of calcaneus in a 43-year-old female …

- Study on the analgesic and anti-inflammatory mechanisms of Jingu Zhitong gel in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis through the IL-17, NGF-TrkA, and COX-2/PGE2 pathways. [Journal Article]Front Pharmacol. 2026; 17:1791915.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: JGZTG exhibits pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects in KOA, which were linked to altered IL-17, NGF-TrkA, and COX-2/PGE2 pathways. These findings have provided experimental evidence for the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of JGZTG in KOA.

- Atrophic Nonunion in Fifth Toe Fractures: A Case Report Linking Occult Infection and Fifth Toe Fracture. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Mar; 18(3):e106230.C
- Phalangeal fractures are the most common fractures in the foot, with the vast majority completely healing with conservative management. The overall nonunion rate for fractures of the lesser phalanges is not well documented in the literature due to their rarity. The following cases explore two unusual presentations of fifth toe closed fracture with delayed union, suggesting a potential link betwee…

- Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Triggered by Snake Bite: Diagnostic Utility of Triple-Phase Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography-Computed Tomography Bone Scan-Case Report. [Case Reports]World J Nucl Med. 2026 Mar; 25(1):51-55.WJ
- Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain disorder with complex pathophysiology involving neurogenic inflammation and autonomic dysfunction. While CRPS is typically associated with trauma or surgery, its occurrence following a snakebite is extremely rare. We report the case of a 47-year-old man who developed persistent pain, swelling, and hypersensitivity in the left foot after a sn…

- Comparison of Open Scarf-Akin Osteotomy and Minimally Invasive Chevron and Akin (MICA) Osteotomy for Severe Hallux Valgus Deformity: A Retrospective Study. [Journal Article]Foot Ankle Orthop. 2026 Apr; 11(2):24730114261436758.FA
- CONCLUSIONS: Both procedures reliably corrected severe HV deformity. MICA was associated with shorter total operative time and reduced length of stay. In exploratory covariate-adjusted sensitivity models, MICA maintained advantages in operative time and AOFAS scores, whereas between-group differences in SEFAS and angular radiographic outcomes were attenuated or nonsignificant. In contrast, SA demonstrated stronger correction of apparent first-metatarsal pronation, with no apparent residual severe pronation at follow-up compared with MICA.

- Effectiveness of Sandals Combined with Physical Therapy Versus Physical Therapy Alone on Pain and Function in Plantar Fasciitis: A Randomised Controlled Trial. [Journal Article]Malays J Med Sci. 2025 Aug; 32(4):189-202.MJ
- CONCLUSIONS: While PT effectively improves plantar fasciitis symptoms, adding sandals provided significantly greater improvement in first-step post-inactivity pain. Further large-scale trials with extended follow-up are warranted to confirm these findings and assess long-term efficacy.

- Comparison of Outcomes after Minimally Invasive Transverse Distal Metatarsal Osteotomy (MITO) and Proximal Phalangeal Osteotomy for Hallux Valgus With and Without Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Matched Cohort Study. [Journal Article]Foot Ankle Int. 2026 May 04; :10711007261435610. [Online ahead of print]FA
- CONCLUSIONS: MITO combined with a complete proximal phalangeal osteotomy yielded favorable radiographic improvements and noninferior pain relief in RA patients compared with non-RA patients. Our findings indicate that MITO with proximal phalangeal osteotomy may be a safe and effective minimally invasive joint-preserving surgical option for HV correction in RA patients without advanced first metatarsophalangeal joint destruction.

- Multiple Calcaneus Secundarius Ossicles Presenting with Anterior Foot Pain: A Case Report Highlighting Characteristic Imaging Features. [Case Reports]J Clin Med. 2026 Apr 20; 15(8).JC
- Background: Calcaneus secundarius (CS) is an accessory ossicle located at the anterior aspect of the calcaneus and is typically an incidental and asymptomatic radiographic finding. However, it may become symptomatic following trauma or repetitive mechanical stress and can mimic anterior calcaneal process fracture or tarsal coalition, leading to diagnostic confusion. The presence of multiple indep…
