- CONCLUSIONS: Metabolic bariatric surgery was associated with > 30 kg weight loss by 24 months, reduced FAI, and improvements in menstrual regularity, and ovarian morphology, suggesting potential improvement in fertility-related parameters. Given high pregnancy intention, findings support the need for integrated reproductive counselling and preconception care within bariatric pathways.

- Prevalence and short-term outcomes of primary metabolic and bariatric surgery in non-binary patients: an analysis of the MBSAQIP database. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Non-binary patients represented a small but increasing proportion of patients undergoing primary MBS. In this 30-day MBSAQIP analysis, non-binary status was independently associated with higher odds of readmission but was not associated with increased adjusted odds of serious complications. Given the small non-binary cohort and limited readmission-detail availability, these findings should be interpreted cautiously and support the need for more nuanced gender data collection and long-term outcomes research.

- CONCLUSIONS: RYGB improves systemic metabolic health and induces sustained skeletal muscle bioenergetic reprogramming characterised by enhanced expression of genes involved in myogenesis and protein translation, but decreased expression of genes involved in mitochondrial metabolism, which may reflect improved mitochondrial quality and function. These findings advance our understanding of skeletal muscle metabolic responses to weight loss and of individual variability in metabolic phenotypes.

- CONCLUSIONS: In this retrospective cohort with 10-year follow-up, OAGB and SADI-S were associated with comparable long-term weight outcomes when used as conversion procedures after SG. SADI-S was associated with more favorable lipid parameters, whereas OAGB showed higher levels of several micronutrients over follow-up. These findings should be interpreted as observational associations and may help inform, rather than determine, individualized procedure selection alongside structured long-term surveillance.

- Comparison of 12-Month Outcome of Single Anastomosis Sleeve Jejunal Bypass Compared to Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass and Sleeve Gastrectomy: A Propensity Score Matching Analysis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: SASJ achieves substantial weight loss and meaningful metabolic improvement at one year, with outcomes comparable to SG and RYGB. These findings suggest that SASJ may represent a promising bariatric option for severe obesity; however, larger studies with longer follow-up and comprehensive safety assessment are required before definitive conclusions can be drawn.
