- Primary mucocutaneous tuberculosis of the lower lip: an atypical presentation. [Case Reports]BMJ Case Rep. 2026 Jun 05; 19(6).BC
- Primary mucocutaneous tuberculosis of the lower lip, without pulmonary or systemic involvement, is an uncommon presentation of cutaneous tuberculosis. The rare combination of lower lip swelling, vermilion border beading, gingival hyperplasia and nasal crusting, as seen in our adolescent patient further adds to the atypical nature of the disease while also highlighting diagnostic complexity. We th…

- Sustained Three-Year Remission Following Anti-IL-6 Therapy in a Patient With TAFRO (Thrombocytopenia, Anasarca, Fever, Reticulin Fibrosis, and Organomegaly) Syndrome After Initial Misdiagnosis: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 May; 18(5):e108233.C
- TAFRO syndrome is an infrequent and severe systemic inflammatory condition marked by thrombocytopenia, anasarca, fever, reticulin fibrosis/renal dysfunction, and organomegaly. Although tocilizumab has shown clinical efficacy in inducing initial disease control, evidence on sustained long-term remission beyond three years following anti-interleukin-6 therapy remains limited. We present a 46-year-o…

- Management of a Complex Case of Gingival Enlargement Associated With Underlying Arteriovenous Malformation: A Five-Year Follow-Up Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e107795.C
- Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are high-flow congenital vascular anomalies characterized by abnormal direct communication between arteries and veins, bypassing the capillary bed. Gingival enlargement or gingival overgrowth is a common gingival disease characterized by an increase in the size of the gingival tissues. The main factors of gingival enlargement are inflammation, drugs, systemic co…

- Genetic determinants of drug-induced gingival overgrowth. [Journal Article]Sci Rep. 2026 May 20. [Online ahead of print]SR
- Drug-induced gingival overgrowth (DIGO) is a multifactorial adverse effect associated with calcium channel blockers and antiepileptic drugs, yet genetic susceptibility-particularly in Asian populations-remains poorly defined. We performed whole-genome sequencing in 74 Thai individuals, including 36 DIGO cases and 38 drug-exposed nonresponder controls. A genome-wide association study was conducted…

- Leukemia Cutis in Acute Myeloid Leukemia: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e107112.C
- Leukemia cutis is an uncommon extramedullary manifestation of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) caused by infiltration of the skin by leukemic blasts. Its clinical morphology is highly variable and may mimic infectious, inflammatory, or other neoplastic dermatoses, making tissue diagnosis essential. We report a 49-year-old man who presented with fever, epistaxis, and multifocal nodular and ulcerated s…

- Identification of a rare missense variant in the gene SPATA31H1 associated with hereditary gingival fibromatosis in a large Chinese family. [Journal Article]BMC Oral Health. 2026 May 14. [Online ahead of print]BO
- CONCLUSIONS: In this study, it was found that a missense mutation in the gene SPATA31H1 is closely associated with non-syndromic HGF disease.

- Gingival cysts of the adult associated with gingival inflammation hyperplasia: a rare case report. [Journal Article]BMC Oral Health. 2026 May 08. [Online ahead of print]BO
- CONCLUSIONS: To our knowledge, this case is the first to describe an adult gingival cyst accompanied by significant gingival inflammation hyperplasia. It offers a new perspective on the clinical presentation of adult gingival cysts and provides substantial diagnostic and differential diagnostic value.

- A Case Report of Vitamin C Deficiency Mimicking Osteomyelitis. [Case Reports]Pediatr Rep. 2026 Apr 14; 18(2).PR
- Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, plays a pivotal role in forming blood vessels, cartilage, muscles, and collagen in bones. We report a 6-year-old non-verbal female with global developmental delay who presented with complaints of lower limb pain and inability to bear weight. Symptoms started five weeks prior to presentation and had progressed from decreased activity to complete loss of weig…

- Determinants of calcium channel blocker-induced gingival hyperplasia among patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis. [Journal Article]
- OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to assess the prevalence of calcium channel blocker (CCB)–induced gingival hyperplasia (GH) and to identify associated risk factors among patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD). METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed on 303 patients receiving CCB therapy while undergoing PD at the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University. Based on clinical assessme…

- Drug-induced gingival overgrowth: FAERS based real-world pharmacovigilance study and network pharmacology analysis. [Journal Article]Front Pharmacol. 2026; 17:1775430.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: CCBs carried the highest DIGO risk, followed by IMMs and AEPs. Bisphosphonates were associated with DIGO and may act through PI3K-AKT/MAPK pathways, providing a mechanistic hypothesis for clinical medication safety.

- Spongiotic gingival hyperplasia: a systematic review of histopathologic features. [Review]Front Oral Health. 2026; 7:1780111.FO
- CONCLUSIONS: SGH is a reactive gingival pathology that primarily occurs in adolescents. The histopathologic features of SGH consistently reported were hyperplastic non-keratinized stratified squamous epithelium with spongiosis and prominent vascular stroma. Surgical excision was curative in the majority of cases.

- Reactive gingival lesions: a multicenter study of 8,625 cases from South America. [Multicenter Study]Oral Surg Oral Med Oral Pathol Oral Radiol. 2026 Aug; 142(2):266-278.OS
- CONCLUSIONS: RGL represent a relevant proportion of oral biopsies in South America and predominantly affect adult women. Their clinical presentation is largely nonspecific, reinforcing diagnostic challenges in routine practice. Inclusion of less emphasized entities, such as giant cell fibroma and traumatic neuroma, broadens the clinical perspective.
