- Developing and Piloting a Standardized Thermography Protocol to Expedite Rheumatology Referrals for Possible Inflammatory Arthritis. [Journal Article]J Clin Rheumatol. 2026 May 11. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: IRT demonstrates potential as a reliable tool for identifying inflamed joints and offers a feasible pathway for identifying patients with joint-level thermal abnormalities who may benefit from expedited rheumatologic evaluation. Further research is needed to refine IRT-based rheumatology referral protocols and optimize their utilization.

- This study investigates the therapeutic performance of intra-articular platelet-rich plasma (PRP) versus intra-articular corticosteroid injections, specifically evaluating outcomes within Asian demographic groups. This review was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses 2020 statement. We assessed study quality with the Cochrane Risk of B…

- Ballistic Galeazzi Fractures: A Case Series. [Journal Article]J Orthop Case Rep. 2026 May; 16(5):395-400.JO
- CONCLUSIONS: This case series expands current understanding of Galeazzi fracture patterns by demonstrating that ballistic mechanisms, though uncommon, can produce this distinctive injury without the classic torsional loading. These findings suggest that stable DRUJ alignment can often be achieved through rigid fixation of the radial shaft alone, even in the setting of significant shortening from ballistic trauma. This report adds novel evidence to the orthopedic literature by highlighting a previously underrecognized mechanism of Galeazzi injury. It supports the importance of thorough intraoperative assessment of DRUJ stability following fixation. The clinical impact extends beyond trauma surgery by reinforcing that fracture pattern, rather than mechanism alone, should guide management decisions.

- Establishing Minimal Clinically Important Difference and Patient Acceptable Symptom State Thresholds for Patient-Reported Outcome Measures in Acromioclavicular Joint Arthropathy: A Prospective Cohort Study. [Journal Article]J Orthop Case Rep. 2026 May; 16(5):424-431.JO
- CONCLUSIONS: This study establishes disease-specific MCID, SCB, MOI, and PASS thresholds for commonly used shoulder PROMs in AC joint arthropathy. These benchmarks enhance the interpretability of patient-reported outcomes, support standardised reporting in clinical research, and should be applied as measurement tools rather than indicators of comparative treatment efficacy.

- Operative Management of a Late-Presenting McKee Type IV Capitellum Coronal Shear Fracture via an Anterolateral Approach: A Rare Case Report. [Case Reports]J Orthop Case Rep. 2026 May; 16(5):211-215.JO
- CONCLUSIONS: Osteotomy-assisted open reduction through an anterolateral approach appears to be a viable surgical option for late-presenting McKee Type IV coronal shear malunions, enabling restoration of joint anatomy and function. However, conclusions are limited by the single-case design, absence of comparative analysis, and lack of long-term follow-up.

- Postpartum Parsonage-Turner Syndrome with Hourglass Constrictions and Spontaneous Recovery without Surgical Intervention. [Journal Article]Eur J Case Rep Intern Med. 2026; 13(5):006571.EJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Parsonage-Turner syndrome should be considered in postpartum patients presenting with acute severe upper extremity pain followed by weakness, as the condition may be misdiagnosed as cervical radiculopathy, peripheral nerve compression or carpal tunnel syndrome.Hourglass constriction lesions identified on MR neurography are considered pathognomonic for neuralgic amyotrophy, but the presence of these lesions does not necessarily mandate early surgical intervention.Spontaneous neurologic recovery may occur even in patients with hourglass constriction lesions, supporting the importance of individualised management and careful longitudinal reassessment before proceeding to operative treatment.

- CONCLUSIONS: One year after surgery supplemented with UC-MSC and secretome therapy, the patient demonstrates sustained pain relief and progressive functional recovery. This case supports the potential role of UC-MSC-based therapy in enhancing long-term outcomes in TFCC injury, warranting further investigation.

- 'It might help, but it won't fix me': a qualitative study of individuals' beliefs about manual therapy for low back pain. [Journal Article]Chiropr Man Therap. 2026 May 14. [Online ahead of print]CM
- CONCLUSIONS: Participants' beliefs about their LBP and the role of manual therapy were shaped by a predominantly mechanical model. However, participants with greater experience of manual therapy often perceived the therapeutic alliance as beneficial for managing their LBP and addressing psychosocial factors. Manual therapists should be aware of unhelpful beliefs held by LBP patients that can potentially influence behaviors and outcomes. In addition, patients' beliefs about the risks and benefits of treatment should be explored to facilitate shared decision making around the use of manual therapy.

- Factors Associated with Progression of Symptomatic Isolated Supraspinatus Tears 2 Years after Exercise Therapy. [Journal Article]J Shoulder Elbow Surg. 2026 May 12. [Online ahead of print]JS
- CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed that individuals who are current or previous smokers had a 5.4 times higher odds of tear progression than non-smokers when controlling for BMI. Based on this prospective longitudinal observational study, counseling regarding the risks associated with smoking and periodic monitoring of tear size should be considered for smokers with an isolated symptomatic supraspinatus tear.

- The Likiang pitviper (Gloydius monticola) is a high-altitude species endemic to northwestern Yunnan Province, China, and its venom effects on humans have not previously been documented. We report the first confirmed case of human envenomation by G. monticola, resulting in severe and progressive coagulopathy. - Clinical Outcomes, Return to Sport and Psychological Readiness After Arthroscopic Bankart Repair Using Knotless All-Suture Anchors at a Minimum 2Year Follow-up. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: At short-term follow-up, Bankart repair using knotless all-suture anchors demonstrated favorable patient-reported outcomes and low redislocation rates. Patients who did not return to their preinjury level of sport exhibited significantly lower psychological readiness. The SI-RSI exhibited high discriminative performance in predicting return to preoperative level of sports, with an optimal cutoff value of 80.
