- Changes in the Heart Sounds Between Discharge and Initial Follow-Up and Subsequent Cardiac Events in Patients with Acute Decompensated Heart Failure. [Journal Article]CJC Open. 2026 Apr; 8(4):400-407.CO
- CONCLUSIONS: An increase in S3 as assessed using the CAB device between discharge and the first clinic visit may be a predictor of subsequent cardiac events in patients initially hospitalized for acute decompensated HF.

- Application of Acoustic Cardiography in Assessment of Cardiac Function in Horses with Atrial Fibrillation Before and After Cardioversion. [Journal Article]
- Left atrial mechanical dysfunction is common in horses following the treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF). This study aimed to evaluate the use of an acoustic cardiography monitor (Audicor[®]) in quantifying cardiac mechanical and hemodynamic function in horses with AF before and after treatment and to correlate these findings with echocardiographic measures. Twenty-eight horses with AF and succ…

- Atypical Presentation of Andersen-Tawil Syndrome: Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection without Periodic Paralysis or Dysmorphic Features. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Andersen-Tawil syndrome (ATS) can present with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, even without the typical triad of periodic paralysis, dysmorphic features and arrhythmias. Early genetic testing is essential for confirming ATS, especially in atypical cases with unexplained heart failure or arrhythmias.ATS has incomplete penetrance so it may present without the typical features, making diagnosis challenging and requiring a high suspicion in cases with unexplained arrhythmias or family history of sudden cardiac death.

- Differentiating sensor changes in a composite heart failure ICD monitoring index: Clinical correlates and implications. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: HeartLogic alerts are mostly triggered by changes in heart sounds, but clinical events are more linked to respiration rate, RSBI, and night heart rate. Recurrent alerts often involve different sensors, indicating diverse mechanisms of HF progression.

- Psychometric evaluation of the Clinical Interview for Externalizing Disorders (ILF-EXTERNAL) in an online setting - Results from the consortium project INTEGRATE-ADHD. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Sound psychometric properties of the ILF-EXTERNAL were also confirmed for its use in an online setting. High interrater reliabilities demonstrate the quality of the ADHD diagnostics carried out in the consortium project INTEGRATE-ADHD.

- The role of cardiac acoustic biomarkers in monitoring patients with heart failure: A systematic literature review. [Systematic Review]
- Heart failure (HF) creates a considerable clinical, humanistic and economic burden on patients and caregivers as well as on healthcare systems. To attenuate the significant burden of HF, there is a need for enhanced management of patients with HF. The use of digital tools for remote non-invasive monitoring of heart parameters is gaining traction, and cardiac acoustic biomarkers (CABs) have been p…

- Recurrence of valvular involvement in Libman-Sacks endocarditis associated with antiphospholipid syndrome: A case report. [Case Reports]
- Recurrence of valvular involvement may occur after Libman-Sacks endocarditis surgery, emphasizing the need for frequent multivalvular evaluations with echocardiography or more sensitive methods to optimize surgical outcomes.

- The Evolving Stethoscope: Insights Derived from Studying Phonocardiography in Trainees. [Journal Article]
- Phonocardiography (PCG) is used as an adjunct to teach cardiac auscultation and is now a function of PCG-capable stethoscopes (PCS). To evaluate the efficacy of PCG and PCS, the authors investigated the impact of providing PCG data and PCSs on how frequently murmurs, rubs, and gallops (MRGs) were correctly identified by third-year medical students. Following their internal medicine rotation, thir…

- Diagnostic Yield and Model Prediction Using Wearable Patch Device in HFpEF. [Journal Article]Stud Health Technol Inform. 2024 Jul 24; 315:25-30.SH
- Heart failure (HF) is a prevalent global health issue projected to escalate, notably in aging populations. The study aimed to identify predictive markers for Heart Failure with preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF). We scrutinized vital parameters like age, BMI, eGFR, and comorbidities like atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease (CAD), diabetes mellites (DM). Evaluating phonocardiogram indica…

- Measuring congestion with a non-invasive monitoring device in heart failure and haemodialysis: CONGEST-HF. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: A non-invasive device was able to detect changes in congestion in patients with HF receiving decongestion therapy and patients having fluid removed at haemodialysis. The cardiopulmonary management device, which measures multiple parameters, is a potentially useful tool to monitor patients with HF to prevent hospitalizations.

- Beat-to-beat alterations of acoustic intensity and frequency at the maximum power of heart sounds are associated with NT-proBNP levels. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Despite significant attenuations of all four components of HS by BMI, beat-to-beat alterations of both intensity and frequency of S1 were associated with the severity of HF. Acoustic quantification of HS enabled analyses of sounds below the audible level, suggesting that sound analysis might provide an early sign of HF.

- Early diastolic heart sounds caused by the atrial kick. [Case Reports]
- An 81-year-old male with a history of coronary artery disease, hypertension, paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and chronic kidney disease presents with asymptomatic bradycardia. Examination was notable for an early diastolic heart sound. 12-lead electrocardiogram revealed sinus bradycardia with a markedly prolonged PR interval and second-degree atrioventricular block, type I Mobitz. We review the di…

- Evaluation of the Audicor Acoustic Cardiography Device as a Diagnostic Tool in Horses with Mitral or Aortic Valve Insufficiency. [Journal Article]Animals (Basel). 2024 Jan 21; 14(2).A
- Mitral and aortic valve insufficiencies have been commonly reported in horses. The objective of this study was to establish the use of acoustic cardiography (Audicor[®]) in horses with aortic (AI) or mitral valve insufficiency (MI). A total of 17 healthy horses, 18 horses with AI, and 28 horses with MI were prospectively included. None of the horses was in heart failure. Echocardiography and Audi…

- A novel methodology for evaluation of S2 wide split via estimated parameters. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: The significant contributions are highlighted: A novel GMM-based efficient methodology is proposed for estimating the characteristics of A2 and P2. A novel OLR-based [Formula: see text] is defined to replace the current state-of-the-art criterion for evaluating the split degree of S2. Considering respiration phases combined with CR are proposed for the high-precision diagnosis of S2 wide split.
