- Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease Presenting as a Painless Epigastric Mass: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Am J Case Rep. 2026 Aug 20; 27:e952751.AJ
- BACKGROUND Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is the most common inherited renal disorder, typically presenting with hypertension, hematuria, or progressive renal dysfunction. However, it can have a broad range of initial presentations and, in uncommon cases, may mimic other abdominal disorders. This report presents a case of ADPKD manifesting as an epigastric mass in a patient …

- Double-J versus single-J stent placement in kidney transplant recipients: a systematic review and meta-analysis of postoperative outcomes. [Journal Article]Clin Transplant Res. 2026 Aug 20. [Online ahead of print]CT
- CONCLUSIONS: DJ stents lower urinary tract infection rates, shorten hospital stays, and improve serum creatinine at 6 months, but raise the risk of ureteral stenosis. Other postoperative outcomes are comparable between DJ and SJ stents.

- An Unusual Cause of Hematuria and Flank Pain. [Case Reports]Port J Card Thorac Vasc Surg. 2026 Aug 19; 33(2):35-38.PJ
- Hematuria and flank pain are a typical urology emergency, often presented as the primary complaint. However, in patients with previous aortolia surgery, these symptoms may rarely indicate external compression of the urinary tract by an anastomotic pseudoaneurysm. We herein describe an unusual case of a 50-year-old man who presented to the urologist with hematuria and right flank pain due to urete…

- Cross-Sectional coaxial technique: optimizing specimen adequacy and safety in ultrasound-guided renal biopsy procedures. [Journal Article]Ren Fail. 2026 Dec; 48(1):2656545.RF
- Percutaneous renal biopsy (PRB) is the gold standard for diagnosing renal diseases. This study aimed to compare the specimen adequacy and safety of three ultrasound-guided PRB techniques: cross-sectional coaxial (Group A), longitudinal coaxial (Group B), and conventional longitudinal noncoaxial technique (Group C). This single-center retrospective study enrolled 184 adult patients who underwent P…

- Severe immune thrombocytopenia induced by vancomycin in a critically ill patient: a case report and literature review. [Journal Article]Thromb J. 2026 Aug 13; 24(1).TJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This case underscores the critical importance of early recognition of VIIT. Our literature review reveals that while discontinuation of the offending agent is the cornerstone of therapy, severe cases (platelets < 20,000/µL) often require adjunctive immunomodulatory treatment. VIIT should remain a primary differential diagnosis in patients presenting with unexplained thrombocytopenia during vancomycin therapy.

- Emergency holmium laser enucleation of the prostate for management of refractory hematuria. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: From our cohort, emergency HoLEP appears to be a safe and effective treatment for refractory hematuria. Patients demonstrated high rates of early catheter removal and catheter-free voiding at follow-up, with no patients requiring additional procedures.

- Relapse of Steroid-Dependent Nephrotic Syndrome Despite Long-Term Ciclosporin Therapy in an 11-Year-Old Child: A Case Report and Review on the Management of Nephrotic Syndrome in Children. [Journal Article]Case Rep Nephrol. 2026; 2026:1396986.CR
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights several important therapeutic considerations in relapsing childhood nephrotic syndrome: recognition of SDNS as a subgroup of SSNS, accurate prednisolone dosing during relapse, careful assessment of edema and intravascular volume status before diuretic therapy, and individualized use of steroid-sparing agents and antimicrobial prophylaxis. In children receiving prolonged ciclosporin therapy, treatment should be regularly reviewed with blood pressure, renal function, and therapeutic drug monitoring in view of potential calcineurin inhibitor toxicity, and alternative steroid-sparing options such as levamisole may be considered where clinically appropriate.

- Eosinophilic cystitis refractory to multiple treatments with good response to benralizumab: case report. [Case Reports]Front Allergy. 2026; 7:1890965.FA
- CONCLUSIONS: This case demonstrates the efficacy and safety of benralizumab in refractory eosinophilic cystitis, even in the absence of peripheral eosinophilia. Anti-IL-5/IL-5R monoclonal antibodies may represent a valuable steroid-sparing and surgery-sparing therapeutic option for selected patients with refractory disease. Further studies are warranted to confirm these findings and define the role of biologic therapy in this rare condition.

- Prospective multicenter validation of a Urine-Based multiplex assay for risk stratification of patients presenting with gross hematuria. [Journal Article]J Natl Cancer Inst. 2026 Aug 17. [Online ahead of print]JNCI
- CONCLUSIONS: In this prospective trial, Oncuria-Detect demonstrated significantly higher sensitivity for detecting de novo UC than comparator urine tests, supporting its potential as a non-invasive risk stratification tool for patients presenting with GH.

- CONCLUSIONS: CTA-assisted TAE shows high immediate haemostatic efficacy and acceptable short-term safety, supporting its clinical feasibility as a rescue approach for urologic tumour-related gross haematuria. TNM stage III-IV, multiple foci, and hypovascular supply predict poorer outcomes. Prospective multicentre controlled studies are warranted.

- Pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis in human immunodeficiency virus infection: clinical and therapeutic challenges. [Case Reports]BMJ Case Rep. 2026 Aug 17; 19(8).BC
- Renal disease in people living with HIV extends beyond classical HIV-associated nephropathy to include immune-mediated and vasculitic lesions, of which pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis is among the rarest and most easily missed. We describe two biopsy-proven cases with anti-myeloperoxidase anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody positivity. The first, established on antiretroviral therapy,…

- Impact of Moses technology on HoLEP day-case success rate: a monocentric matched paired cohort study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this large propensity-matched cohort of day-case HoLEP, Moses 2.0 technology was safe but did not significantly improve day-case success compared with conventional HoLEP. Although Moses technology enhances intraoperative laser performance, its clinical benefit in an expert outpatient setting appears limited. Further studies should identify subgroups that may derive greater benefit from this technology.

- Endoscopic treatment strategies for ureteral stricture in patient with single kidney: triple-stent and metal ureteral stent. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Our center has innovatively presented the triple-stent strategy for treating US in patients with SK. A one-year follow-up demonstrated that both triple-stent and AMUS treatments effectively and safely managed US in SK patients. During the short-term follow-up period, the triple-stent group offered greater economic advantages.
