- Fluorescence Dynamics Imaging Reveals Inflammation Driven by Ferroptosis through a MAO/ONOO[-] Dual-Responsive Probe. [Journal Article]Anal Chem. 2026 May 05. [Online ahead of print]AC
- Inflammation, as a critical defensive response of the body, can exacerbate tissue damage through oxidative cascade reactions when it becomes uncontrolled. Among the key oxidative stress mediators are monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A) and peroxynitrite (ONOO[-]), which synergistically promote cellular damage. To further elucidate their molecular mechanisms of action, precise and reliable imaging tools a…

- Fragile immunity, fatal foe: A cluster of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia cases in children with haematological malignancies on chemotherapy. [Journal Article]Lung India. 2026 May 01; 43(3):304-308.LI
- CONCLUSIONS: Pneumocystis jirovecii causes a potentially life-threatening pneumonia, especially in immunocompromised individuals such as children with leukaemia on chemotherapy. PJP presents more severely with rapid progression and higher mortality rate in children with leukaemia than in HIV-positive cases. Therefore, early diagnosis and prompt treatment initiation is paramount in reducing morbidity and mortality in these cases.

- Transient receptor potential channels in Flaviviridae infection: A comprehensive review. [Review]Channels (Austin). 2026 Dec; 20(1):2665540.C
- Diseases caused by Flaviviridae viruses exert profound global health and economic burdens due to their high incidence and associated mortality. Infection by the Flaviviridae family often leads to severe acute or chronic illnesses, including hemorrhagic systemic diseases caused by dengue virus (DENV) and yellow fever virus, neurological complications associated with West Nile virus and Zika virus …

- Adult T-Cell Leukemia/Lymphoma and Epstein-Barr Virus-Positive DLBCL: A Rare Concomitant Association. [Case Reports]Oncology (Williston Park). 2026 Apr 20; 40(3):162-164.O
- Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL) is an aggressive lymphoma with a poor prognosis. The human T-lymphotropic virus 1 (HTLV-1) is associated with immunodeficiency and increased extranodal involvement in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). We report on a 47-year-old woman with spastic paraparesis and hepatitis B who was diagnosed with the acute form of ATLL. The clinical picture…

- Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is a critical complication of systemic illness, and its diagnosis can be especially challenging in patients with cirrhosis, where baseline liver-related coagulopathy may mask the development of superimposed consumptive coagulopathy. In the setting of sepsis and liver dysfunction, DIC may progress to purpura fulminans (PF), a rare, life-threatening cond…

- First Detection of Rocahepevirus in Urban Wastewater from Guinea: A One Health Alert. [Journal Article]Pathogens. 2026 Apr 03; 15(4).P
- Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a major cause of acute viral hepatitis worldwide, with zoonotic genotypes detected in humans and animals. In Africa, limited data exist on environmental HEV circulation. Here, we report the first detection of Rocahepevirus ratti (RHEV) in urban wastewater from Conakry, Guinea. From December 2024 to April 2025, Rocahepevirus ratti (RHEV) has been detected in 35 out of 18…

- Hepatitis E in Thailand: From Seroprevalence to Foodborne and Transfusion-Associated Risks. [Review]J Clin Med. 2026 Apr 09; 15(8).JC
- Background: Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is an increasingly recognized cause of acute viral hepatitis in Thailand as the burden of hepatitis A, B, and C has declined. HEV is a positive-sense RNA virus in the family Hepeviridae with three major open reading frames encoding replication proteins (ORF1), the capsid protein (ORF2), and an accessory protein involved in viral egress (ORF3). Unlike highly end…

- Alcohol-associated Hepatitis (AH) is a rare acute injury caused by alcohol consumption, which can lead to one of the most severe manifestations of liver disease. It is part of the alcohol-related liver diseases (ArLD) spectrum, which represents a major global health burden, with oxidative stress and inflammation serving as central, interconnected pathogenic mechanisms. Chronic alcohol (ethanol) c…

- Alcoholic liver disease (ALD), secondary to chronic alcohol abuse, encompasses a spectrum of liver disorders that progress from steatosis and hepatitis to fibrosis, cirrhosis, and acute-on-chronic liver failure. It poses a considerable global health burden due to its elevated rates of associated morbidity and mortality. The rising prevalence of ALD, coupled with the lack of approved pharmacothera…

- Evaluation of cell free DNA methylation as a biomarker to differentiate different liver diseases. [Review]Expert Rev Mol Diagn. 2026 May 04; :1-13. [Online ahead of print]ER
- A major challenge in many liver diseases is the lack of highly sensitive, specific, and minimally invasive biomarkers. Cell-free DNA (cfDNA) methylation compensates for the limitations of existing biomarkers and exhibits substantial clinical application potential in a variety of liver diseases, notably hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). A systematic literature search was conducted in the PubMed, Web…

- CONCLUSIONS: In patients with liver failure, liver biopsy provides crucial information for determining the etiology and guiding clinical decision-making. With appropriate selection of the biopsy approach and patient population, TJLB can serve as a safe and feasible option, particularly for patients with coagulation disorders or severe ascites.

- Seronegative Autoimmune Hepatitis in Adults Is a Rare Entity Often Obscured by Suboptimal Diagnostic Assessment. [Multicenter Study]Liver Int. 2026 Jun; 46(6):e70669.LI
- Seronegative autoimmune hepatitis (SnAIH) lacks detectable conventional autoantibodies (ANA, SMA, anti-LKM, anti-LC1, and anti-SLA/LP), posing diagnostic challenges. Increasing evidence suggests SnAIH in adults reflects limitations in autoantibody detection rather than a distinct variant. We systematically re-evaluated all biopsy-proven SnAIH cases in a large international multicenter AIH cohort …

- CONCLUSIONS: In our cohort, only one-third of ALI patients fulfilling emergency LT criteria underwent transplantation. These findings suggest that historical KCH and CV criteria have limited ability to identify patients with poor prognosis without LT in the context of modern intensive care.
