  • The Oral-Hepatic Axis: Epidemiological and Mechanistic Links Between Periodontal and Liver Diseases. [Review]
    J Periodontal Res. 2026 Aug 17. [Online ahead of print]Sahingur SE, Grzech-Leśniak K, … Deeb JGJP
  • Chronic liver diseases and periodontitis are prevalent inflammatory disorders that impose substantial global health and economic burdens. Increasing evidence supports an oral-hepatic axis through which periodontal dysbiosis and chronic oral inflammation may influence hepatic homeostasis and disease progression. Epidemiologic studies have linked periodontitis with metabolic dysfunction-associated …
  • Antiviral profile of hepatitis B virus capsid assembly modulator ALG-001075, the parent of pevifoscorvir sodium. [Journal Article]
    Antiviral Res. 2026 Aug 17; :106510. [Online ahead of print]Debing Y, Vanrusselt H, … Jekle AAR
  • Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection remains an important unmet medical need with 240 million patients worldwide. The HBV capsid assembly process has emerged as a key target for more efficient antiviral intervention. Pevifoscorvir sodium (ALG-000184), an oral prodrug of the potent HBV capsid assembly modulator (CAM) ALG-001075 showed significant reductions in HBV DNA, HBV RNA and other viral…
  • Serologic Immunity to Hepatitis A and B in US Adults and High-Risk Populations. [Journal Article]
JAMA Intern Med. 2026 Aug 17. [Online ahead of print]Roldan GA, Fletcher J, … Udompap PJIM
  • CONCLUSIONS: This cross-sectional study found that population-level serologic immunity to HAV and HBV was suboptimal and substantial susceptibility persisted across high-risk clinical subgroups. These findings highlight persistent gaps in viral hepatitis protection and support targeted, systematic vaccination strategies for HAV and HBV, especially among high-risk populations.
  • Hepatitis Overview: Less Common Causes of Hepatitis. [Review]
FP Essent. 2026 Jul; 566:37-46.Darling JMFE
  • Although metabolic, viral, and drug- and alcohol-related etiologies are a familiar part of the evaluation of elevated liver enzymes, less common causes include autoimmune hepatitis, Wilson disease, and hereditary hemochromatosis. Each has a progressive course to end-organ damage underscoring the importance of early recognition, as effective therapies are available. Autoimmune hepatitis is an immu…
