- Serial Magnetic Resonance Imaging Analysis Reveals Acetabular Labral Volume Decreases After Labral Reconstruction and Returns to Native Size. [Journal Article]Arthroscopy. 2026 Jun 04. [Online ahead of print]A
- CONCLUSIONS: In patients with a nondiminutive native labrum preoperatively, the reconstructed labral size gradually decreased and returned to its preoperative native size by 6 to 12 months. The SNR of reconstructed labrum gradually increased and returned to its preoperative level by 6 to 12 months. Larger graft diameter was associated with greater 12-month postoperative labral size and reduction of pain.

- Ultrasound-guided quadratus lumborum block for postoperative analgesia in a pediatric patient with congenital hip dislocation: a case report. [Case Reports]Front Pediatr. 2026; 14:1830713.FP
- Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a common congenital pediatric orthopedic malformation that often requires open reduction combined with pelvic osteotomy, resulting in severe postoperative pain. Pediatric patients under 2 years old have immature anatomical and physiological characteristics, high sensitivity to opioid analgesics, and an inability to subjectively express pain, which makes…

- Primary Arthroscopic Labral Repair in Acetabular Overcoverage: PROMs and Arthroplasty Rates at Midterm Follow-up. [Journal Article]Am J Sports Med. 2026 Jun 04; :3635465261453067. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Patients with lateral acetabular overcoverage demonstrated similar and satisfactory postoperative PROMs at a minimum 5-year follow-up compared with propensity-matched nondysplastic controls, regardless of whether the LCEA was corrected to <40°. Of note, nondysplastic controls demonstrated a higher rate of conversion to THA, suggesting a potentially chondroprotective role for acetabular overcoverage.

- Short-Term Outcomes Following Periportal Versus Interportal Capsulotomy With Closure in Nondysplastic Women Undergoing Hip Arthroscopy for Femoroacetabular Impingement. [Journal Article]Am J Sports Med. 2026 Jun 04; :3635465261448227. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: In female patients without hip dysplasia who underwent primary hip arthroscopy for the treatment of FAIS, periportal capsulotomies with complete capsular closure provided higher rates of clinically meaningful improvements in subjective outcomes of SANE and PROMIS-PF scores compared to an interportal capsulotomy with complete closure at 2 years postoperatively.

- Characterizing symptom burden in knee osteoarthritis: the predominant role of Kellgren-Lawrence grade 4 in functional decline and pain severity. [Journal Article]
- Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) causes pain, functional impairments, and sleep disturbances. This study aimed to assess differences in pain pattern, insomnia, function, and muscle strength across Kellgren-Lawrence grades in patients with KOA. In this cross-sectional study, 82 patients (65.8 ± 7.8 years) were categorized into Kellgren-Lawrence Grade 2 (n = 20), Grade 3 (n = 20), and Grade 4 (n = 42). Pa…

- Preoperative posterior pelvic tilt is associated with residual low back pain and inferior patient-reported outcomes after total hip arthroplasty. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Preoperative posterior pelvic tilt was independently associated with residual LBP and less LBP improvement after THA. Residual LBP was associated with inferior one year PROMs, suggesting a potential role for preoperative sagittal pelvic orientation in persistent LBP and patient-perceived recovery after THA.

- Patient Education for innovative technology in shoulder arthroplasty: does knowledge improve outcomes? [Journal Article]J Shoulder Elb Arthroplast. 2026 Sep; 10(3):100026.JS
- CONCLUSIONS: Pre-operative education about surgical technology enhances patient confidence and optimism but does not independently influence functional recovery or satisfaction after TSA. While previously established that educational interventions improve patient experience, they do not independently alter clinical outcomes. Incorporating structured, interactive education may further strengthen patient engagement as technology becomes increasingly central to shoulder arthroplasty.

- Inflammatory Pseudotumor After Total Hip Arthroplasty-An Increasingly Recognized Complication. [Review]Orthop Surg. 2026 Jun 02. [Online ahead of print]OS
- Inflammatory pseudotumor (IP) is an increasingly recognized etiological factor in the failure of total hip arthroplasty (THA). It is a non-neoplastic, non-infectious mass encircling a hip prosthesis following arthroplasty and may appear as cystic, solid, or mixed tissue. Although initially associated with metal-on-metal (MoM) bearing surfaces, IP formation can also occur with other bearing types.…

- Cost consequences of physiotherapy and orthopaedic referral pathways for knee and hip osteoarthritis in Greenland: a pragmatic decision-analytic study. [Journal Article]BMC Health Serv Res. 2026 Jun 02. [Online ahead of print]BH
- CONCLUSIONS: Under the assumptions applied, referral to a physiotherapist-delivered exercise therapy programme was associated with lower hospital-related costs than referral to orthopaedic surgical assessment in routine care for knee and hip osteoarthritis in Greenland. These findings highlight how the organisation of referral pathways within the healthcare system may influence resource use in settings with constrained surgical capacity. Further research integrating clinical outcomes with economic evaluation is needed before drawing conclusions regarding optimal treatment strategies.

- Efficacy and safety of ketamine in total hip arthroplasty: a systematic review. [Systematic Review]J Orthop Surg Res. 2026 Jun 01. [Online ahead of print]JO
- CONCLUSIONS: Perioperative ketamine may offer benefits in analgesia, opioid sparing, and functional recovery after THA, but its effects on delirium are inconsistent and may depend on dosing and patient characteristics. Individualized administration and cautious use in high-risk elderly patients may be considered, though further research is needed to clarify optimal protocols.

- Nitrous oxide for pain and anxiety management in elderly patients after THA rehabilitation: a study protocol for a randomized controlled trial. [Journal Article]BMC Geriatr. 2026 Jun 02. [Online ahead of print]BG
- CONCLUSIONS: This study is designed to generate evidence regarding the effectiveness and safety of nitrous oxide for analgesia in patients undergoing rehabilitation after total hip arthroplasty. This intervention has the potential to provide more effective support options for pain management in rehabilitation training for elderly patients, potentially improving patient satisfaction and quality of life. If proven effective, this intervention may provide preliminary evidence for a new analgesic option in hospital and rehabilitation settings.
