- Effect of PDCA Cycle-Based Orthopedic Rehabilitation Nursing on Perioperative Pain and Functional Recovery in Patients With Femoral Fractures. [Journal Article]Ann Ital Chir. 2026 Aug 13; 97(8):1405-1412.AI
- CONCLUSIONS: PDCA cycle-based orthopedic rehabilitation nursing was associated with reduced perioperative pain, improved patient comfort, earlier postoperative ambulation, and enhanced functional recovery in patients with femoral fractures. However, given the retrospective single-center design and potential selection bias, the findings should be interpreted cautiously. Prospective multicenter, randomized controlled studies with larger sample sizes are warranted to validate these observations.

- Hypoparathyroidism and Avascular Necrosis of the Hip Joint: A Case Report. [Journal Article]Clin Case Rep. 2026 Aug; 14(8):e73360.CC
- A 30-year-old man presented with left hip pain and was diagnosed with femoral head avascular necrosis associated with idiopathic hypoparathyroidism, hypocalcemia, and vitamin D deficiency. Treatment with calcium, calcitriol, analgesia, and physiotherapy improved symptoms. This case suggests hypoparathyroidism may play a role in the development of avascular necrosis.

- Atopy is associated with osteoarthritis severity: results from the KHOALA cohort. [Journal Article]Joint Bone Spine. 2026 Aug 17; :106122. [Online ahead of print]JB
- CONCLUSIONS: Atopy appears to be associated with the radiographic OA severity and increased requirement of knee joint replacement. These results invite us to consider atopy as a potential new determining factor in the OA disease severity.

- Unexpected Metal Ion Elevation and Adverse Tissue Reactions in Trident II Dual Mobility Constructs With Ceramic Heads. [Case Reports]
- Dual mobility (DM) constructs reduce dislocation risk in total hip arthroplasty. The Trident II system accepts a cobalt-chromium liner to create a DM bearing. However, dissimilar metal at the cup-liner interface raises concerns for corrosion. This case series describes six cementless primary Trident II DM total hip arthroplasty patients who experienced gradual onset of hip pain with low-grade inf…

- Osteoid osteoma of the femoral neck as a rare cause of hip pain in a 50-year-old male: A case report. [Case Reports]
- Osteoid osteoma (OO) is a benign osteoblastic tumor typically affecting young individuals. OO arising in the femoral neck is rare and may present with atypical clinical and radiological features, frequently leading to diagnostic delay. We report a case of a 50-year-old man with persistent hip pain for 8 months. Initial radiographs were unremarkable, and both magnetic resonance arthrography (MRA) …

- Liposomal bupivacaine surgical site injection for decrease of narcotic use in hip fractures: a pilot multicenter randomized trial. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: We were unable to demonstrate a clinical difference between liposomal bupivacaine and placebo in narcotic use, pain scores, or postoperative delirium in geriatric fragility fractures. It is possible that there may be a small effect size that we were unable to detect, and a larger study may demonstrate that. However, given the unlikely large improvement in pain, expense of the medication, and technique dependent nature, a smaller difference does not warrant a larger trial nor uniform administration.

- The relationship between symptom duration in lumbar disc herniation and the prevalence of hip and knee osteoarthritis: A cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The study demonstrates that a significant association appears to exist between the duration of radicular symptoms and the prevalence of lower limb symptomatic radiographic OA. However, because this study population consists entirely of surgically treated individuals, these findings may limit generalizability to the broader, non-surgical population.

- Radiculopathy due to cement extravasation after sacroplasty: A case report. [Case Reports]
- Sacral insufficiency fractures are an underrecognized source of atraumatic lumbopelvic pain in elderly osteoporotic patients and may evade diagnosis when initial radiographs are inconclusive. We describe an elderly osteoporotic woman who presented to an outpatient spine clinic with atraumatic low back and hip girdle/groin pain, without radicular symptoms or neurologic deficit. After failure of fo…

- Association between tranexamic acid and postoperative delirium in elderly patients: a mediation analysis of inflammatory markers following hip and knee arthroplasty. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Intravenous TXA administration is significantly associated with a reduced incidence of POD in elderly patients undergoing hip or knee arthroplasty. This association may be partially mediated by inflammatory markers, including NLR, SIRI, SII, hs-CRP, and IL-6. These findings contribute to the development of more effective strategies to improve the quality of postoperative recovery in elderly patients.

- The first report of hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia caused by a novel mutation and accompanied with pathological femoral neck fracture: A case report. [Case Reports]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Aug 14; 105(33):e50191.M
- CONCLUSIONS: This case expands the mutational and phenotypic spectrum of TP63-associated HED by describing a previously unreported mutation presenting with a pathological femoral neck fracture and end-stage renal disease. It highlights the importance of early diagnosis, comprehensive genetic testing, multidisciplinary management, and regular follow-up for patients with HED.

- Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are among the most common work-related health problems and are frequently associated with prolonged sitting, poor computer workstation ergonomics, and inadequate sleep. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of MSD complaints and examine their associations with computer workstation ergonomics and sleep quality among employees at Jazan University, Saudi Arabi…

- CONCLUSIONS: Female runners with a history of knee surgery demonstrated greater hip adduction and worse knee-related symptoms than males. Peak hip adduction was not significantly associated with knee-related symptoms at baseline or two years.
