- Case Report: Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome type 1 with pulmonary involvement in a 62-year-old Caucasian woman with rheumatoid arthritis. [Case Reports]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1778211.FI
- CONCLUSIONS: In patients presenting with PF, OCA, and bleeding diathesis, HPS should be suspected. Diagnostic workup begins with platelet aggregation study and TEM of platelets, and the diagnosis is confirmed by molecular genetic testing. No disease-modifying therapies exist for HPS-associated PF (HPS-PF); pirfenidone has uncertain benefit, while lung transplantation remains the only option for end-stage disease. This case underscores the need for early suspicion of HPS to guide investigations, counseling, and referral to specialized care. Moreover, the unusual association with RA is emphasized, as it may have contributed to PF.

- Ethnic Disparities in Achieving Treatment Targets and Organ Damage Accrual in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: A Multi-Centre Study from Malaysia. [Journal Article]J Clin Med. 2026 Apr 29; 15(9).JC
- Background/Objectives: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a heterogeneous disease with substantial variability in clinical manifestations and outcomes, influenced by ethnic and geographical diversity. Remission is the optimal treatment target, while low lupus disease activity state is an accepted alternative goal. Although sustained remission has been associated with reduced organ damage, the …

- Lemierre's syndrome is a rare postanginal septic thrombophlebitis involving the internal jugular vein in younger adults. Extension into the thoracic inlet and upper extremity venous system is uncommon, and the role of underlying autoimmune disease in amplifying thromboinflammatory responses remains poorly characterized. A 29-year-old man with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), intermittently com…

- Ophiopogonin D Mediates Therapeutic Effects on Primary Sjögren's Syndrome by Modulating Gut Microbiota and Metabolite Profiles. [Journal Article]Biomed Chromatogr. 2026 Jun; 40(6):e70468.BC
- This study aimed to investigate the mechanism of ophiopogonin D (OD) in treating primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) through integrated analysis of gut microbiota and metabolomics. Non-obese diabetic/LtJ mice, a well-established pSS model, were used as the model group and treated with OD or hydroxychloroquine. Fecal and tissue samples were collected starting 4 weeks after administration. Basic patho…

- Acute Ischemic Stroke as the Initial Presentation of Primary Sjögren's Syndrome: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e106755.C
- Sjögren's syndrome is a long-standing autoimmune condition that predominantly affects the body's exocrine glands, most notably the eyes and mouth, leading to ocular and oral dryness. Neurological involvement, particularly affecting the central nervous system, is infrequently encountered, and the occurrence of stroke as an initial clinical manifestation remains exceptionally uncommon. We report a …

- Endolysosomal trafficking regulator SH-BC-893 inhibits coronavirus entry in vitro and in vivo. [Journal Article]Sci Rep. 2026 May 11. [Online ahead of print]SR
- SARS-CoV-2 vaccination or infection may not protect from future novel coronavirus outbreaks. Although several drugs targeting essential coronavirus proteins are broadly effective, the error-prone coronavirus RNA-dependent RNA polymerase and a rapid viral replication cycle mean that drug resistance will likely emerge. Small molecules that target sequence-stable host proteins could offer more durab…

- Efficacy and safety of pharmacological treatment for Sjögren's disease: a network meta-analysis. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Compared to PBO, iscalimab, dazodalibep, iguratimod, remibrutinib, leflunomide + hydroxychloroquine, ianalumab, and filgotinib significantly reduced the ESSDAI score, with no distinctions in the ESSPRI score. No significant differences in safety profiles were fond between any drugs and PBO.

- When estimating the effects of medical therapies from their use outside of randomized trials, researchers often rely on assumptions that are difficult to justify and typically impossible to verify. The resulting estimates may thus be far from their intended causal targets, potentially making a harmful treatment appear beneficial or vice versa. We review the stability-controlled quasi-experiment (…

- As a major challenge currently plaguing reproductive medicine, recurrent pregnancy loss(RPL) has a variety of causes. Thyroid autoimmunity(TAI) is a prevalent thyroid disorder among women of childbearing age, potentially impacting maternal physiological changes and the balance of the maternal-fetal interface during pregnancy through endocrine and autoimmune pathways, which can lead to abortion an…

- Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), a subtype of aggressive breast cancer, has limited treatment options. Recurrent disease caused by drug-tolerant persister cells (DTPs) that evade chemotherapeutic agents (e.g., doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX) and paclitaxel (PTX)) is a significant challenge in treating TNBC. Recent studies highlight both autophagy and lysosomal function as key mechanisms supp…
