- Non-bacterial thrombotic endocarditis and intraventricular small-vessel thromboembolic occlusion mimicking immune checkpoint inhibitor myocarditis in a patient treated with pembrolizumab: a case report. [Case Reports]Eur Heart J Case Rep. 2026 May; 10(5):ytag305.EH
- Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized cancer treatment and are increasingly associated with cardiovascular toxicities, including myocarditis and accelerated atherosclerosis. While ICI myocarditis has received substantial attention, thrombotic complications remain underrecognized and may be difficult to distinguish from immune-mediated cardiac inflammation and cancer-related hype…

- Thrombus or Vegetation: A Diagnostic Dilemma in Cardiac Imaging. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e107316.C
- Cardiac masses identified on echocardiography can pose significant diagnostic challenges, particularly when differentiating between thrombi and vegetations, which require markedly different management approaches. We present the case of a 57-year-old postmenopausal woman with a history of thymic cancer and recent pulmonary embolism (PE), who presented with abdominal pain, weight loss, and laborato…

- Thrombophilia assessment with thrombin generation assay at diagnosis and during induction therapy in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. [Journal Article]Thromb Res. 2026 May 13; 262:109710. [Online ahead of print]TR
- Thrombosis is a significant complication of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) associated with both the disease itself and its treatment. This study aimed to predict the thrombotic process with TGA performed at diagnosis and during induction therapy in pediatric ALL cases, to assess the contribution of hereditary risk factors, ALL, and treatment to thrombophilia, and to compare the thro…

- [Molecular genetic factors of accelerated vascular aging.] [Review]Adv Gerontol. 2026; 39(1):74-81.AG
- Aging is recognized as a highly complex process mediated by multiple mechanisms. It affects all body systems, including the cardiovascular system. The severity of age-related changes in the body is often associated with the severity of vascular aging. It remains crucial to analyze current data on vascular aging, tracing the available cause-and-effect relationships of molecular and genetic interac…

- Development and validation of a tetra-primer ARMS-PCR assay for genotyping the MTHFR (rs1801131) c.1286 A > C (p.Glu429Ala) polymorphism: a comparative study with KASP. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: T-ARMS-PCR offers a reliable, rapid, and cost-effective alternative for MTHFR c.1286 A > C genotyping. This method is particularly suitable for resource-limited clinical settings that require accurate genotyping without the need for high-end sequencing or specialized instrumentation.

- Thrombin Generation Assay: Ready for Prime Time. [Review]Clin Lab Med. 2026 Jun; 46(2):375-387.CL
- Thrombin generation assay (TGA) is a tool to assess bleeding and thrombotic risk in citrated plasma, either in the presence or absence of platelets, and several different commercial assays have been developed and actively marketed. TGA can be used for various research and clinical applications, including the identification of patients at risk of bleeding or thrombosis, as well as monitoring of tr…

- Best Practices in Thrombophilia Testing. [Review]Clin Lab Med. 2026 Jun; 46(2):279-293.CL
- Thrombophilia testing is a critical aspect of managing venous thromboembolism, a condition affecting approximately 1 in 1000 individuals annually and causing significant morbidity, mortality, and health care costs. This document provides an in-depth overview of current best practices in thrombophilia testing, including clinical guidelines, assay methodologies, and advances in molecular diagnostic…

- CONCLUSIONS: In patients undergoing craniotomy for presumed high-grade glioma, cumulative intraoperative hypotension below a MAP threshold of 75 mmHg is associated with postoperative DVT after rigorous confounder adjustment and propensity matching. These observational findings support consideration of MAP maintenance ≥75 mmHg in this high-risk population. Prospective validation is required.

- Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is a rare but serious complication of hypercoagulable states or conditions that increase portal pressure, such as liver cirrhosis, inherited or acquired coagulation cascade abnormalities, myeloproliferative disorders, malignancy, inflammation, or infection. COVID-19 has been associated with a prothrombotic state, leading to both arterial and venous thromboses. Here, w…

- Case Report: Sequential fetal reduction in a triplet pregnancy and its effects on coagulation balance. [Case Reports]Front Glob Womens Health. 2026; 7:1786320.FG
- Over the last few decades, the increase in medically assisted reproduction has led to a significant increase in the frequency of twin and higher-order multiple pregnancies (defined as triplets or more). A critical element of this trend is the increased risk of preterm birth and infant mortality in twin and higher-order pregnancies. Fetal reduction (FR) was initially established as an option to re…

- Coronary thrombosis without underlying atherosclerotic plaque in patients with Omicron variant of coronavirus disease 2019: a case series. [Journal Article]J Med Case Rep. 2026 May 14. [Online ahead of print]JM
- CONCLUSIONS: This case series highlights that infection with the Omicron variant of COVID-19 virus (especially its critical and severe type) can increase thrombogenicity and contribute to coronary thrombosis without underlying atherosclerotic plaque. Prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment such as primary percutaneous coronary intervention are essential. Effective anticoagulant and antiplatelet drug therapy before, during and after reperfusion therapy is a key principle. The utilization of a "Heart Team" approach ensures systematic management, discussion of therapeutic options, hemodynamic stability, and durable outcomes.

- Prevalence and Outcomes of Antiphospholipid Syndrome after Unprovoked Venous Thromboembolism: a multi-centre real-world data analysis. [Journal Article]J Thromb Haemost. 2026 May 12. [Online ahead of print]JT
- CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of APS following unprovoked VTE is notable, and selective testing identified fewer APS cases in practice. Identifying aPL antibodies in patients with unprovoked VTE may inform discussions regarding anticoagulation duration and choice, although optimal testing strategies require further prospective evaluation.
