  • [Abdominal Mondor's disease]. [Case Reports]
Medicina (B Aires). 2026; 86(3):814-817.Saurin SD, Sola MF, … García RM
  • Mondor disease is a rare, benign and self-limiting entity, characterized by superficial thrombophlebitis of veins of the anterior thoracoabdominal wall. Its etiology is unknown, although predisposing factors are associated. Clinical presentation is a unilateral painful cordlike subcutaneous induration. The diagnosis is clinical, although can be confirmed with imaging studies. Symptomatic treatmen…
  • The Vascular and Metabolic Face of Alopecia Areata: Insights from an Indian Cohort. [Journal Article]
Indian Dermatol Online J. 2026 Jun 17. [Online ahead of print]Gupta S, Chopra DID
  • CONCLUSIONS: Indian AA patients exhibit significant coagulation abnormalities, metabolic dysregulation, and systemic inflammation, with these factors correlating with disease severity. These findings suggest that AA extends beyond a localized dermatological disorder and may have systemic implications. These associations imply a link rather than causality due to the cross-sectional nature of the study. Further research is warranted to explore the role of targeted therapies in mitigating these risks.
  • Superficial femoral artery thrombosis after PFNA in an intertrochanteric fracture patient with sarcopenia and copd: a rare case report. [Journal Article]
BMC Geriatr. 2026 Jun 17. [Online ahead of print]Yin Z, Gong G, … Yin JBG
  • CONCLUSIONS: Surgeons must maintain a heightened awareness of the potential complications associated with arterial thrombosis in the context of fractures. The formation of femoral artery thrombosis in this patient may be attributed to prolonged compression of the proximal femoral artery during intraoperative fracture reduction, compounded by the patient's long-standing sarcopenia and COPD. These factors likely contributed to elevated levels of inflammatory markers and increased susceptibility to complications. Furthermore, pre-existing peripheral arterial disease, perioperative hypotension, hypercoagulable state, embolic disease, plaque instability, or trauma-associated vascular injury cannot be excluded as potential causative factors. It is imperative to conduct comprehensive preoperative screenings and to employ meticulous and gentle surgical techniques, particularly in elderly patients, to minimize the risk of complications. Furthermore, thorough and timely physical examinations before and after surgery are essential for the early detection of problems and improved patient outcomes. Lastly, clinical practice should enhance fall prevention strategies for elderly patients suffering from sarcopenia.
  • Catastrophic Pediatric Stroke Following Attempted Transcatheter Ventricular Septal Defect Closure. [Case Reports]
JACC Case Rep. 2026 Jun 17; :108786. [Online ahead of print]Aizat Mohd Yasim MN, Panichnantho N, … Promphan WJC
  • CONCLUSIONS: Thromboembolism related to subtherapeutic anticoagulation, contrast-related neurotoxicity, and patient vulnerability in the setting of procedural complexity were considered the most plausible mechanism.Strict anticoagulation monitoring, appropriate heparin dosing, careful contrast selection, and thoughtful patient selection are essential to improve the safety of pediatric transcatheter interventions.
  • New approaches in the haemostatic management of postpartum haemorrhage. [Review]
    BMJ Med. 2026; 5(1):e002256.Cox C, Neave L, Hunt BJBM
  • Postpartum haemorrhage is the leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide, accounting for a substantial proportion of preventable deaths, particularly in settings with limited resources. Despite its clinical significance, understanding the haemostatic changes underpinning postpartum haemorrhage has historically been limited, with management strategies largely extrapolated from trauma related bl…
