- Management of inferior vena cava thrombosis: guidance from the Italian Society for the Study of Haemostasis and Thrombosis (SISET). [Journal Article]Thromb Haemost. 2026 Jun 22. [Online ahead of print]TH
- Inferior vena cava thrombosis (IVCT) is an uncommon manifestation of venous thromboembolism, characterized by heterogeneous clinical presentation and limited disease-specific evidence. Owing to its rarity, diagnostic and therapeutic strategies are largely extrapolated from studies in proximal lower-limb deep vein thrombosis, resulting in substantial variability in clinical practice. This guidance…

- CONCLUSIONS: This S2k guideline provides comprehensive recommendations for the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of neonatal stroke and CSVT. Early identification of affected infants, appropriate use of advanced neuroimaging, and structured interdisciplinary follow-up are essential to minimize neurological sequelae and improve long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes.

- Mondor disease is a rare, benign and self-limiting entity, characterized by superficial thrombophlebitis of veins of the anterior thoracoabdominal wall. Its etiology is unknown, although predisposing factors are associated. Clinical presentation is a unilateral painful cordlike subcutaneous induration. The diagnosis is clinical, although can be confirmed with imaging studies. Symptomatic treatmen…

- BackgroundManagement of extensive inferior vena cava (IVC) thrombosis following trauma is challenging, particularly when IVC filter placement is unsuitable. The presence of concomitant injuries requiring surgical intervention further complicates decisions regarding anticoagulation and pulmonary embolism prevention.Case PresentationA 40-year-old man presented following a high-velocity motorcycle a…

- The Vascular and Metabolic Face of Alopecia Areata: Insights from an Indian Cohort. [Journal Article]Indian Dermatol Online J. 2026 Jun 17. [Online ahead of print]ID
- CONCLUSIONS: Indian AA patients exhibit significant coagulation abnormalities, metabolic dysregulation, and systemic inflammation, with these factors correlating with disease severity. These findings suggest that AA extends beyond a localized dermatological disorder and may have systemic implications. These associations imply a link rather than causality due to the cross-sectional nature of the study. Further research is warranted to explore the role of targeted therapies in mitigating these risks.

- A 32-year-old woman with panhypopituitarism following surgical resection, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy for a pituitary germinoma underwent assisted reproductive treatment. Management involved comprehensive hormone replacement therapy, ovulation induction with exogenous gonadotropins, in vitro fertilization (IVF), and thromboprophylaxis with low molecular weight heparin due to a diagnosed thromb…

- Antiphospholipid antibody formation during immune checkpoint inhibition in patients with cancer: a prospective cohort study. [Journal Article]Res Pract Thromb Haemost. 2026 May; 10(4):106654.RP
- CONCLUSIONS: ICI therapy was not associated with the development of antiphospholipid antibodies or changes in thrombin generation after 3 months. These findings suggest that the short-term risk of thromboembolic events after initiation of ICI therapy may not be mediated by antiphospholipid antibodies.

- Venous Thromboembolism Risk in Transgender Women on Feminizing Hormone Therapy: A Narrative Review of Formulation-Specific Risks, Management Strategies, and Evidence Gaps. [Review]Cureus. 2026 Jun; 18(6):e111121.C
- The transgender population is growing, with more people seeking gender-affirming care. While estrogen-based gender-affirming hormone therapy (E-GAHT) is essential for transfeminine individuals, most evidence on associated venous thromboembolism (VTE) risks is outdated and no longer used in clinical practice. Routine primary anticoagulant prophylaxis is not recommended for low-risk individuals ini…

- Life-Saving Intracranial Mechanical Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke in Pregnancy: Balancing Maternal and Fetal Risk. [Case Reports]J Med Cases. 2026 Jul; 17(7):356-364.JM
- Stroke during pregnancy is uncommon but poses a significant threat to both mother and fetus, requiring rapid, carefully balanced interventions. We describe a 46-year-old woman at 24 weeks' gestation who presented with sudden speech difficulties, facial droop, and weakness on one side of her body. Imaging revealed an acute right middle cerebral artery occlusion, and extensive evaluation ruled out …

- Superficial femoral artery thrombosis after PFNA in an intertrochanteric fracture patient with sarcopenia and copd: a rare case report. [Journal Article]BMC Geriatr. 2026 Jun 17. [Online ahead of print]BG
- CONCLUSIONS: Surgeons must maintain a heightened awareness of the potential complications associated with arterial thrombosis in the context of fractures. The formation of femoral artery thrombosis in this patient may be attributed to prolonged compression of the proximal femoral artery during intraoperative fracture reduction, compounded by the patient's long-standing sarcopenia and COPD. These factors likely contributed to elevated levels of inflammatory markers and increased susceptibility to complications. Furthermore, pre-existing peripheral arterial disease, perioperative hypotension, hypercoagulable state, embolic disease, plaque instability, or trauma-associated vascular injury cannot be excluded as potential causative factors. It is imperative to conduct comprehensive preoperative screenings and to employ meticulous and gentle surgical techniques, particularly in elderly patients, to minimize the risk of complications. Furthermore, thorough and timely physical examinations before and after surgery are essential for the early detection of problems and improved patient outcomes. Lastly, clinical practice should enhance fall prevention strategies for elderly patients suffering from sarcopenia.

- Despite increasing knowledge over the last several decades of the factors contributing to delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI), it remains a significant cause of morbidity after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). The hypercoagulable state induced by aneurysm rupture is critical to most proposed mechanisms of DCI either through its direct contribution to microthrombi formation, or through the i…
