- Successful Pregnancy After Therapeutic Apheresis in a Complex Case of PCOS, Hashimoto Thyroiditis, Recurrent Implantation Failure, and Potential Occupational Environmental Exposure. [Case Reports]Int Med Case Rep J. 2026; 19:614140.IM
- Both polycystic ovary syndrome and Hashimoto thyroiditis are commonly associated with female infertility. Each condition may impair reproductive function through distinct but sometimes overlapping mechanisms, and their co-occurrence has been associated with an even higher risk of infertility. In this single-case report, we describe a 33-year-old female with established polycystic ovary syndrome (…

- Case Report: Infertility in bitches at a German Shepherd breeding center and nutritional management. [Case Reports]Front Vet Sci. 2026; 13:1801445.FV
- CONCLUSIONS: The diagnostic approach to infertility is complex and involves both male and female factors, while dietary adequacy is often overlooked. Nutrients such as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), arachidonic acid, folic acid, vitamin E, selenium, and zinc may influence ovarian steroidogenesis and antioxidant systems, and maintenance diets may not always be optimal for bitches intended for reproduction. These observations are hypothesis-generating; baseline and follow-up nutrient biomarkers were not obtained and no untreated control group was available, precluding causal inference.

- The role of omentin-1 in female reproduction: a critical review. [Review]J Reprod Dev. 2026; 72(3):410-420.JR
- White adipose tissue is now recognized as an active endocrine organ that secretes numerous bioactive molecules known as adipokines. These proteins regulate essential physiological processes, including energy metabolism, inflammation, and reproduction, while disturbances in their secretion are linked to conditions such as infertility, obesity, and diabetes. Omentin-1, also termed intelectin-1, is …

- Heat and chemical stressors: Independent and interactive impacts on the pig ovary. [Review]J Reprod Dev. 2026; 72(3):291-300.JR
- Seasonal infertility as a phenotypic consequence of heat stress has been recognized in production animals for decades and more recently in women. Systemic impacts of heat stress include compromised intestinal integrity, and elevated prolactin and insulin. These effects alone can compromise female fertility. There are also ovarian endocrine changes and molecular sequelae that have been identified.…

- When bovine life begins in a petri dish: transcriptomic insights from embryos to calves conceived in vitro. [Review]J Reprod Dev. 2026; 72(3):172-181.JR
- Gamete plasticity enables fertilization and embryo development under laboratory conditions through procedures commonly known as in vitro production (IVP). While this technology is primarily used in humans to treat infertility, it also enables the propagation of high-quality genetic material at relatively low cost in cattle, supporting sustainable animal production. However, IVP has inherent limit…

- The challenges and prospects of mammalian reproduction in extraterrestrial environments. [Review]J Reprod Dev. 2026; 72(3):105-114.JR
- Humanity will eventually inhabit extraterrestrial environments, yet crucial questions remain regarding the feasibility of reproduction and long-term survival away from the Earth. Exposure to space radiation might induce DNA damage, potentially resulting in harmful mutations in future generations. Altered gravity on other planets or within space colonies could also interfere with embryonic and fet…

- Male Factor Infertility Diagnoses, But Not Male Age, Significantly Affects the Yield of Usable Embryos in Donor Oocyte Cycles. [Journal Article]Fertil Steril. 2026 Jun 17. [Online ahead of print]FS
- CONCLUSIONS: Together, these data suggest that while male age does not significantly impact embryo suitability for transfer, the presence of any male factor diagnoses does decrease the number of embryos available for transfer.

- NEDDylation maintains oocyte quality by stabilizing mitochondrial transcription. [Journal Article]Sci Adv. 2026 Jun 19; 12(25):eaec3505.SA
- Age-related decline in oocyte quality increases the risk of infertility, miscarriage, and birth defects. Mitochondrial dysfunction is a key contributor to this decline. Here, we report that oocyte-specific deletion of Uba3, which encodes the catalytic subunit of the E1 NEDDylation-activating complex, causes sterility in mice. Fully grown, germinal vesicle-stage Uba3 conditional knockout oocytes e…

- Weight-Lowering Drugs and Natural Female Fertility-A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. [Systematic Review]Clin Obes. 2026 Aug; 16(4):e70092.CO
- Overweight and obesity are global health concerns linked to impaired female fertility. Weight-lowering drugs are an alternative for achieving weight loss; however, their effect on natural female fertility is unclear. A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to summarise the literature on the effects of weight-lowering drugs on ovulation, conception, pregnancy and live birth rates. Inc…

- Infertility and male-perpetrated intimate partner violence against HIV-negative women in low- and middle-income countries: A cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]Glob Public Health. 2026 Dec 31; 21(1):2683738.GP
- Male-perpetrated intimate partner violence (IPV) against women is a global crisis, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) due to restrictive gender norms. Stigma against infertility and childlessness could increase women's vulnerability to IPV. This study analyzed data from the Demographic Health Survey, including 93,734 ever-in-union, HIV-negative women aged 20-49 years across …

- Clinical Features and PLCZ1 Gene Variants in Two Cases of Male Infertility: A Case Series and Literature Review. [Case Reports]Mol Genet Genomic Med. 2026 Jun; 14(6):e70250.MG
- CONCLUSIONS: This study reported for the first time that homozygous frameshift mutations in the PLCZ1 gene led to fertilization failure. These newly discovered mutations expanded the range of pathogenic variants in the PLCZ1 gene, confirming that ICSI combined with assisted oocyte activation can effectively overcome such male factor infertility, providing a theoretical basis for genetic counseling and reproductive intervention for such patients.

- Long-term pregnancy outcomes after deferential vessel‑sparing microsurgical vasoepididymostomy. [Journal Article]Transl Androl Urol. 2026 May 30; 15(5):168.TA
- CONCLUSIONS: The epididymal obstructions that are not secondary to vasectomy are associated with a higher postoperative pregnancy rate, although OI cannot be determined. Previous vasoepididymostomy (VE) studies may have underestimated the natural pregnancy rate after VE because they had a short follow-up period and recommended in-vitro fertilization (IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) for couples with patency too early. Therefore, we believe that it may be better to wait 2 to 3 years after VE patency before doing IVF/ICSI, as long as the spouse's condition permits.
