- Clinical Trial: Lemborexant Efficacy and Safety in Liver Cirrhosis-Randomized, Double-Blind, Crossover Clinical Trial. [Journal Article]Aliment Pharmacol Ther. 2026 Jul 07. [Online ahead of print]AP
- CONCLUSIONS: Our study supported the efficacy and safety of Lemborexant, particularly at 5 mg, against sleep problems in cirrhosis. Larger studies with longer follow-up are warranted to strengthen evidence.

- Efficacy and safety of Dimdazenil in primary insomnia and depressive episodes/bipolar depressive episode with insomnia: A post-marketing, randomized, open-label, positive-controlled study. [Journal Article]J Affect Disord. 2026 Jul 07; :122225. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: In this exploratory study, Dimdazenil was associated with improvements in subjective sleep parameters and daytime functioning in patients with primary insomnia and depressive episodes/bipolar depressive episode with insomnia. Improvements in sleep maintenance outcomes and in patients with depressive episodes/bipolar depressive episode with insomnia warrant further investigation in adequately powered confirmatory studies.

- Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Validation of the Japanese Charité Alarm Fatigue Questionnaire (CAFQa) Among ICU Nurses and Physicians: A Multicentre Study. [Multicenter Study]Nurs Crit Care. 2026 Jul; 31(4):e70576.NC
- Alarm fatigue threatens patient safety in intensive care units (ICUs), yet no validated Japanese instrument exists. We cross-culturally adapted the Charité Alarm Fatigue Questionnaire (CAFQa) into Japanese following COSMIN guidelines and evaluated it in 129 clinicians (103 nurses, 26 physicians) at five hospitals, with 102 retested. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the two-factor structure …

- Glymphatic-Related Alterations in Major Depressive Disorder and Treatment-Resistant Depression: Imaging Proxies, Mechanistic Links, and Therapeutic Opportunities. [Review]J Integr Neurosci. 2026 Jun 26; 25(6):51052.JI
- Major depressive disorder is increasingly conceptualized as a condition involving brain network dysfunction, neuroimmune imbalance, sleep-circadian disruption, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA)-axis dysregulation, monoaminergic arousal instability, and impaired synaptic plasticity. In parallel, the glymphatic system has emerged as a plausible integrative mechanism linking these domains, becaus…

- The effect of zolpidem on sleep efficiency and obstructive sleep apnea severity in OSA patients: A systematic review and meta‑analysis. [Journal Article]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Jul 03; 105(27):e49588.M
- CONCLUSIONS: Zolpidem can substantially increase sleep duration in OSA patients without worsening AHI or overnight hypoxemia, and appears well-tolerated without a next-day hangover. These findings are limited by the small number of studies, small sample sizes, and short-term nature of interventions. Further large-scale RCTs are warranted to confirm long-term safety and efficacy.

- Depression in neurodegenerative disease: neurobiological mechanisms and emerging treatments. [Review]Mol Psychiatry. 2026 Jul 06. [Online ahead of print]MP
- Depression is one of the most common and disabling neuropsychiatric complications of neurodegenerative diseases. In Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD), depressive syndromes affect more than one-third of patients and are associated with accelerated cognitive decline, reduced quality of life, and increased healthcare utilisation. Despite this burden, current antidepressant treatm…

- CONCLUSIONS: This exploratory study proposes disease-specific QTP concentration ranges that show clinical relevance in this Chinese cohort, providing preliminary evidence to guide future research on personalized TDM. The findings should be interpreted cautiously and require validation in subsequent studies before being used to inform clinical practice.

- BackgroundRimegepant is a calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor antagonist approved for both acute and preventive treatment of episodic migraine. Real-world data on its preventive use remain limited, particularly in patients with multiple prior preventive failures. This study evaluated the effectiveness and tolerability of rimegepant in routine clinical practice, focusing on a highly tr…

- Chronic Insomnia as an Uncommon Manifestation of Celiac Disease: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Int Med Case Rep J. 2026; 19:620742.IM
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the value of considering celiac disease in the differential diagnosis of chronic, otherwise unexplained insomnia, particularly when subtle gastrointestinal symptoms or dietary risk factors are present. Given that insomnia is common in the general population and that this report lacks objective sleep and psychiatric assessment, the observed association remains suggestive rather than definitive. Neurologists may benefit from maintaining clinical awareness of this possible association and pursuing collaborative evaluation with gastroenterology to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment.

- Age Differences in Factors Associated With Insomnia Severity: A Comparative Study of Questionnaire Scores and Heart Rate Variability Parameters. [Journal Article]Depress Anxiety. 2026; 2026:7711037.DA
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings highlight age-dependent associations between insomnia severity, psychological factors, and autonomic function, suggesting that young adult insomnia may be more linked to depressive symptoms and chronotype, whereas old adult insomnia is strongly associated with anxiety and autonomic imbalance. This may inform age-tailored therapeutic strategies for primary insomnia.
