- LONGITUDINAL SENSITIVITY TO CHANGE AND PROGNOSTIC VALIDITY OF AUTOMATICALLY MEASURED EFFUSION SYNOVITIS VOLUME (ESV). [Journal Article]Osteoarthr Imaging. 2026; 6 Suppl 1:100409.OI
- CONCLUSIONS: The ESV - determined from non-contrast enhanced DESS MRI - was sensitive to longitudinal change (an increase) in knees with OA disease progression. The current results should be confirmed using standard clinical MRI sequences (IW TSE FS) and in other cohorts, ideally in direct comparison with contrast enhanced MRI. Yet, the current analysis is promising in that the ESV yielded strong prognostic validity and differentiated well between knees with different types of progression, as well as between (combined) progressors vs. non-progressors.

- ASSOCIATION OF SYNOVITIS ACTIVITY MEASURED BY SYNOVIAL TISSUE VOLUME (STV) AND DYNAMIC CONTRAST-ENHANCED (DCE)-MRI IN PATIENTS WITH INFLAMMATORY KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS. [Journal Article]Osteoarthr Imaging. 2026; 6 Suppl 1:100407.OI
- CONCLUSIONS: Although it may be expected that physiologic measures of synovial perfusion (Ktrans) and morphological measures of STV may be measuring somewhat different constructs, the strong correlations between STV and Ktrans measures here demonstrate the potential for the simpler static CE method to be used for quantitative synovitis assessment in clinical trials. STV is more usually measured using high resolution pre- and post-contrast MR images rather than the low-resolution DCE images employed here, which may further improve the association between these measures.

- MEDIAL FIXED JSW TRAJECTORIES: PREDICTORS OF TRAJECTORIES AND THEIR ASSOCIATION WITH THE RISK OF KNEE REPLACEMENT. [Journal Article]Osteoarthr Imaging. 2026; 6 Suppl 1:100420.OI
- Loss of JSW is a hallmark of knee OA structural progression, and knee replacement (KR) is considered by regulatory agencies as a hard clinical endpoint in knee OA DMOAD clinical trials. There has been limited longitudinal investigation of JSW trajectories and their association with the risk of KR, however. In addition, identification of predictors of worse vs. better JSW loss trajectories may hel…

- Acute Knee Flexion Limitation After Sudden Extension: A Clinical Framework Integrating Effusion Decompression and Rotatory Tibial Realignment. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Acute knee flexion limitation following sudden extension may not always reflect fixed mechanical obstruction. The proposed framework integrates established concepts of arthrogenic muscle inhibition with observations from rotational knee biomechanics to support clinical reasoning in selected cases. As a conceptual and hypothesis-generating model, it has not undergone prospective clinical, imaging, or biomechanical validation, and further investigation is required to determine its validity, safety, reproducibility, and clinical utility.

- Knee Pain in Adults and Adolescents: The Initial Evaluation. [Review]Am Fam Physician. 2026 Jul; 114(1):49-62.AF
- Knee pain is common, with more than 30% to 45% of middle-aged and older adults having symptomatic osteoarthritis, and 25% to 40% of younger adults having patellofemoral pain syndrome. Components of a detailed history include time of onset; pain duration, quality, and localization; trauma/mechanism of injury; swelling; popping/clicking; aggravating and alleviating factors; sports activities; and l…
- Associations of Knee Symptomatic, Radiographic, and Structural Abnormalities With Contralateral Knee Osteoarthritis Progression. [Journal Article]J Evid Based Med. 2026 Aug 16; :e70182. [Online ahead of print]JE
- CONCLUSIONS: Worse symptomatic, radiographic, and structural knee status is associated with contralateral radiographic OA progression, suggesting contralateral knee condition should be considered in OA evaluation.

- Ultrasound-Guided Muscle Enhancement and Support Therapy (MEST): Protocol Standardization and a Pilot Study in Refractory Chronic Pain After Total Knee Arthroplasty. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The standardized ultrasound-guided MEST protocol targeting the VMO appears technically feasible and safe. These preliminary findings suggest that MEST may be a potential treatment option for refractory chronic pain following TKA and warrant further prospective investigation.

- Transient Osteoporosis of Bilateral Knee Joints in Twin Pregnancy: A Case Report - A Valuable Addition to the Medical Literature. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Bilateral TO of the knee in pregnancy is an extremely rare clinical entity that should be considered in the differential diagnosis of severe atraumatic knee pain in late pregnancy or the postpartum period. MRI plays a pivotal role in early diagnosis. Conservative management with symptomatic therapy and pharmacological support, including transnasal calcitonin, may provide effective pain relief and functional recovery. Early recognition is essential to prevent complications such as insufficiency fractures.

- CONCLUSIONS: Combination of bicruciate and meniscus osseous root avulsions extremely rare. Further rare injury combination can include floating meniscus as a result meniscocapsular junction tear alongwith osseous root avulsion of meniscus. All these injuries can be accompanied in subtle looking proximal tibia plateau fracture which needs be properly worked up.

- Dietary factors and MRI-Defined synovial inflammation progression in knee osteoarthritis: a longitudinal mixed-effects analysis from the osteoarthritis initiative. [Journal Article]Front Aging. 2026; 7:1877396.FA
- CONCLUSIONS: While specific protein-rich food groups are cross-sectionally linked to baseline synovial inflammation volume, dietary factors are not robustly associated with the short-term progression of effusion-synovitis in knees at risk of KOA. These findings suggest that dietary intake may correlate with the inflammatory "set-point" of the joint but has limited influence on active 12-month inflammatory fluctuations, highlighting the complexity of inflammatory mechanisms in early KOA.
