- A rare case report of acute respiratory distress syndrome secondary to pulmonary tuberculosis: Review of radiographic findings of pulmonary tuberculosis to enhance diagnosis accuracy. [Case Reports]Respir Med Case Rep. 2026; 61:102429.RM
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights ARDS secondary to pulmonary TB, an uncommon and highly complicated manifestations of pulmonary TB. Recognition of clinical manifestations combined with radiographic findings including patterns and lesion distribution can facilitate a more robust diagnosis and prompt patient isolation.

- Multiple vertebrae improves precision in image-based bone marrow absorbed dose estimation in [[177]Lu]Lu-DOTATATE treatment. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Including multiple lesion-free vertebrae enhances precision in image-based bone marrow absorbed dose calculations. Nevertheless, careful selection of vertebrae is important, as closely located high-uptake areas can bias absorbed dose estimates. Applying partial volume correction could mitigate spill-out effects, further improving accuracy. Additionally, the minimal differences between reconstruction parameters suggest that bone marrow absorbed dose estimates remain stable across subset configurations.

- CONCLUSIONS: LSV analysis was feasible and repeatable in pediatric CF over a 1-month period. LSV was significantly reduced 1-month after ETI treatment, indicating sensitivity to reduced gas trapping, hyperexpansion, and obstruction.

- A young female with seropositive rheumatoid arthritis complicated by cavitary rheumatoid nodules in the lung: Case report. [Case Reports]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 May 01; 105(18):e48485.M
- CONCLUSIONS: For RA patients with positive serology, if multiple subpleural nodules or masses with cavities are found on chest CT, pulmonary rheumatoid nodules should be considered first. However, tuberculosis, fungal infection, tumor, and vasculitis must be systematically excluded. The pathology may be atypical, and the consistency of clinical, imaging and pathological findings and dynamic follow-up should be emphasized.

- Evolutionary characterization of lung cancer metastasis. [Journal Article]
- Limited understanding of the biological processes that govern metastatic dissemination hinders its prevention and treatment[1]. Here, using 501 longitudinally collected primary and metastatic tumour samples from 24 patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) enrolled in the TRACERx lung study and PEACE autopsy programme, we infer tumour evolution from diagnosis to death. With DNA-sequencing …

- DARPins as pan-reactivators of temperature-sensitive p53 cancer mutants. [Journal Article]Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2026 May 05; 123(18):e2531747123.PN
- The tumor suppressor p53 is the most frequently mutated protein in tumors and a target for drug development. More than 2000 cancer-associated p53 missense mutations have been reported, most of them located in the DNA-binding domain (DBD). Due to the low intrinsic thermostability of the latter, they often lead to unfolding at physiological temperature. Stabilizing the DBD with small molecules has …

- Evaluation of contemporary echocardiography for the detection of cardiac sarcoidosis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The presence of LV dilatation, LV systolic impairment, multi-territory RWMA and basal septal thinning are the most specific TTE parameters for the detection of CS. In combination with symptom evaluation and ECG data, comprehensive echocardiography remains a useful screening tool among sarcoidosis patients with suspected cardiac involvement.

- A study of the spectrum of lung disorders in TBsurvivors. [Journal Article]Indian J Tuberc. 2026 Apr; 73(2):230-235.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: our study underscores the wide range of lung disorders and dysfunction experienced by TB survivors, which are exacerbated by comorbidities. Hence, patient care and follow up must not end with successful treatment of TB. Digitalization of patient records is emphasized to enable follow up for identifying sequalae that may arise in future. Moreover, management of PTLD should be standardised and included in national guidelines by policy makers.

- Hydatid cyst disease, caused by Echinococcus granulosus, primarily affects the liver and lungs, while cardiac involvement, especially the right atrium (RA), is extremely rare. We report the case of a 21-year-old woman who presented with massive haemoptysis and hypoxemia. Transthoracic echocardiography demonstrated a large multicystic mass occupying the RA cavity, adherent to the atrial wall and i…

- Corynebacterium striatum, a commensal of skin and mucosa, is an emerging opportunistic pathogen. We report a rare case of postoperative incision and thoracic infection caused by C. striatum with concurrent pulmonary colonization by carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP). Following resection of lung and bladder tumours, the patient developed fever, pleural effusion, and poor wound heali…

- Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment of 31 Children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae Necrotizing Pneumonia. [Journal Article]Int J Gen Med. 2026; 19:569685.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Mycoplasma pneumoniae necrotizing pneumonia is more common in preschool and school-aged children with a long heat course and hospital stay. When WBC, neutrophil ratio, D-dimer, and C-reactive protein levels increase significantly, combined with pleural effusion, CT examination of the lungs should be performed to identify M. pneumoniae necrotizing pneumonia at an early stage. Despite a long disease course, most patients have a good prognosis after active treatment.

- CONCLUSIONS: TREM2 may be the key gene involved in the hyperalgesia induced by excessive activation of spinal microglia under pathological conditions of bone cancer, which depends on the phosphorylation of the PI3K/Akt signaling axis.
