  • Effects of Resistance Training on Breast Cancer-Related Lymphedema: A Meta-Analysis. [Review]
Arch Rehabil Res Clin Transl. 2026 Jun; 8(2):100607.Wu S, Zhong C, Liu ZAR
  • CONCLUSIONS: RT is a safe and effective intervention that significantly reduces the risk and severity of BCRL while improving limb volume, lymphatic function, and shoulder mobility. For optimal benefit in clinical practice, progressive RT should be delivered using a "short-duration, high-frequency" model integrated into combined therapy protocols.
  • [Research progress of lymphaticovenous anastomosis in treatment of severe extremity trauma]. [Review]
Zhongguo Xiu Fu Chong Jian Wai Ke Za Zhi. 2026 Jun 15; 40(6):990-994.Huang X, Liu Z, … Hou RZX
  • CONCLUSIONS: LVA exhibits important clinical application potential in the treatment of severe extremity trauma, and can serve as an effective method for clinically controlling limb swelling caused by post-traumatic lymphatic stasis. In the future, research should focus on the early therapeutic application of LVA for extremity trauma, clarify its optimal intervention timing and indications, optimize the treatment regimen by combining with traditional detumescence measures, so as to further enhance its clinical value in the treatment of severe extremity trauma.
  • [Research progress of photoacoustic imaging in diagnosis of limb lymphedema]. [Review]
Zhongguo Xiu Fu Chong Jian Wai Ke Za Zhi. 2026 Jun 15; 40(6):984-989.Shen Y, Pan J, Wang XZX
  • CONCLUSIONS: PAI provides a promising approach for precise diagnosis and perioperative management of limb lymphedema. However, large-scale prospective studies and standardized imaging protocols are required to validate its long-term clinical value.
  • Exploring quality of life and physical-physiological characteristics in obese patients with and without lipedema: insights from the LipObes study. [Journal Article]
BMC Womens Health. 2026 Jun 20. [Online ahead of print]Gursen C, Cools J, … Devoogdt NBW
  • CONCLUSIONS: This cross-sectional study highlights the complex nature of lipedema, providing preliminary evidence of differences in quality of life and distinct body composition and physical and physiological characteristics between patients with obesity with and without lipedema. These results emphasize the need for further research to identify diagnostic biomarkers for lipedema through in-depth investigations. Future studies should also focus on developing and optimizing a multidisciplinary treatment approach tailored to the unique characteristics of patients with lipedema.
  • The Utility of Ultrasound in the Management of Lipedema: Preoperative, Intraoperative, and Postoperative Applications. [Journal Article]
Aesthetic Plast Surg. 2026 Jun 19. [Online ahead of print]Bruno A, Barbera M, … Schirosi MAP
  • CONCLUSIONS: Ultrasound has the potential to become an integral component of modern lipedema management. Its applications extend beyond diagnosis to encompass surgical planning, intraoperative guidance, and postoperative surveillance. The increasing availability of portable, high-resolution ultrasound devices may further facilitate its routine incorporation into clinical practice, ultimately contributing to safer procedures, more personalized treatment strategies, and improved long-term outcomes for patients with lipedema.
  • Scrotal elephantiasis secondary to hidradenitis suppurativa: a rare case report. [Case Reports]
Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1867933.Qupp SK, Halayqa IM, … Alzeer Alhousseini MFIFM
  • CONCLUSIONS: Scrotal elephantiasis secondary to hidradenitis suppurativa is an exceptionally rare complication reflecting advanced lymphatic destruction. Early recognition and timely surgical intervention are essential to restore function and quality of life. This case highlights that even biologic therapy may not prevent progression to end-stage lymphatic disease in refractory HS.
  • Angioedema Presenting as Infant-Onset Primary Lymphedema. [Journal Article]
J Vasc Anom (Phila). 2026 Sep; 7(3).Kolli A, Techabunyart DB, … Greene AKJV
  • Primary lymphedema typically manifests as extremity swelling that is chronic, progressive, and incurable. We present a patient with four-limb and facial swelling who was referred for a possible diagnosis of primary lymphedema. The patient eventually was diagnosed with idiopathic spontaneous angioedema. This case highlights distinguishing characteristics between the two disease processes and the i…
  • The health and economic burden of podoconiosis in East Africa: A systematic review and meta-analysis of health outcomes with narrative synthesis of economic evidence. [Journal Article]
PLoS Negl Trop Dis. 2026 Jun 17; 20(6):e0014427. [Online ahead of print]Hitimana N, Anagnostopoulou V, … Semrau MPN
  • CONCLUSIONS: Podoconiosis imposes a substantial but profoundly under-quantified burden across East Africa, with disease intensity disproportionately concentrated in Ethiopian highland communities. The near-complete absence of DALY and economic burden data outside Ethiopia represents a critical evidence gap. Standardised nationally representative surveys, expansion of burden modelling beyond Ethiopia, and advocacy for inclusion of podoconiosis in the Global Burden of Disease study are urgently needed to support evidence-based policy and resource prioritisation across the region. This systematic review was registered in the PROSPERO International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews with the registration number: CRD42023432640.
