  • Breast Edema in Women With Arm Lymphedema Following Breast-Conserving Surgery: A Systematic Review. [Review]
Cureus. 2026 May; 18(5):e108129.Barletti PS, Moldovan MT, … Mayrovitz HNC
  • Breast edema is a clinically significant but underrecognized complication following breast-conserving surgery (BCS) and radiotherapy. It involves parenchymal and cutaneous changes that can cause pain, functional impairment, and reduced quality of life. Despite overlapping risk factors and shared lymphatic pathophysiology with breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL), breast edema remains poorly de…
  • Lymphedema of the Breast Following Partial Mastectomy and Oncoplastic Reduction. [Journal Article]
    Lymphatics. 2026 Jun; 4(2).Ahmed S, Roth D, … Hassanein AHL
  • Breast lymphedema is characterized by skin thickening/swelling of the breast and is common following partial mastectomy and radiation. Oncoplastic reduction performed during partial mastectomy removes additional breast tissue compared to partial mastectomy alone to optimize breast contour. Recent literature has suggested oncoplastic reduction in patients with macromastia undergoing breast-conserv…
  • Patient preferences for managing chronic breast cancer-related lymphedema in China: evidence from a discrete choice experiment. [Journal Article]
BMC Health Serv Res. 2026 Jun 01. [Online ahead of print]Gao L, Gao Y, … Guo JBH
  • CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that patients with cBCRL place the greatest importance on treatment cost, followed by functional improvement and treatment method. Incorporating patient preferences into survivorship care through affordable, function-oriented, and patient-centred management strategies may help improve the alignment of care with patients' values and priorities. However, because these findings reflect stated preferences under hypothetical scenarios, the real-world effects of reducing out-of-pocket costs on treatment uptake, adherence, and clinical outcomes require further study.
  • Aquaporin-1 sustains lymphangiogenic responses in hyperosmotic inflammatory microenvironments. [Journal Article]
    J Exp Med. 2026 Jul 06; 223(7).Roci I, Kim J, … Petrova TVJE
  • Intestinal lymphatic vessels are essential for dietary lipid absorption and immune cell trafficking. Villus lymphatic capillaries, lacteals, undergo continuous VEGF-C-dependent renewal to function in a hyperosmolar, inflammatory environment exposed to dietary and microbial by-products. To define mechanisms underlying this adaptation, we integrated new and published single-cell RNA-sequencing data…
  • Sepsis caused by Streptococcus canis: An underrecognized zoonotic infection in an elderly dog owner. [Case Reports]
    IDCases. 2026; 44:e02611.Hilton S, Clark C, … DiGiuseppe SI
  • Streptococcus canis (S. canis) is an underrecognized zoonotic pathogen capable of causing invasive human infection. We report a case of sepsis with acute hypoxic respiratory failure due to S. canis bacteremia in a 73-year-old woman with multiple comorbidities, including breast cancer complicated by chronic lymphedema and cardiovascular disease. She presented with fever, progressive dyspnea, hypox…
  • The Omentum as a Lymphoid Tissue: Its Molecular Aspects and Application in a Murine Model. [Journal Article]
    Arch Plast Surg. 2026 May; 53(3):299-309.Hojo M, Seo D, … Maeda TAP
  • CONCLUSIONS: Activated omental tissue secretes potent bioactive factors that promote lymphangiogenesis and tissue regeneration. These findings indicate the potential of activated omentum for functional characterization and possible applications in regenerative medicine. Further investigation in chronic and clinical models is warranted to advance its translational potential.
