- Positive beliefs about mania held by individuals with bipolar disorder: A systematic review. [Review]Psychol Psychother. 2026 Jun 18. [Online ahead of print]PP
- CONCLUSIONS: This is the first review of perceived positive beliefs about (hypo)mania held by people with bipolar disorder. The findings highlight the existence of positive beliefs and provide valuable insights into the nature of such perceptions. Further research is needed to explore positive beliefs about (hypo)mania held not only by the people with bipolar disorder themselves but also by their wider network, such as family members, employers, clinicians and wider society. A better understanding of the impact and clinical implications of such beliefs is needed.

- Case Report: Probable manic episode induced by PEG-IFN α-2b in a chronic hepatitis B patient-multidisciplinary management insights. [Case Reports]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1849394.FM
- CONCLUSIONS: Manic episodes can occur during PEG-IFN α-2b therapy for CHB even in patients without psychiatric risk factors. Clinicians should remain vigilant for this rare adverse event and implement routine mental health monitoring. MDT collaboration is critical for accurate etiological diagnosis and optimal management, ensuring a balance between pursuing functional cure and safeguarding treatment safety.

- Point-of-care testing in community pharmacies to improve antimicrobial stewardship in respiratory infections: a scoping review of effectiveness, implementation and cost-effectiveness. [Review]JAC Antimicrob Resist. 2026 Jun; 8(3):dlag106.JA
- CONCLUSIONS: PoCT is feasible in community pharmacies to improve antimicrobial stewardship in RTIs. Successful uptake requires context-specific strategies, such as pharmacist training, collaboration with general practitioners and the implementation of appropriate reimbursement models. High-quality randomized trials are needed to confirm effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of pharmacy-led PoCT for policy implementation.

- White Matter Changes During Manic and Depressive Episodes and Phase Switching in Bipolar Disorder: A Tractography Study. [Journal Article]Bipolar Disord. 2026 Aug; 28(5):e70131.BD
- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings highlight widespread WM abnormalities in BD, particularly in manic phases, and suggest a neurobiological signature for phase switching. Understanding these alterations can improve early detection, targeted interventions, and personalized treatment approaches for BD.

- Critical reassessment of manic and psychotic episodes related to levetiracetam: a systematic review of published case reports. [Journal Article]Int Clin Psychopharmacol. 2026 Jun 11. [Online ahead of print]IC
- Levetiracetam (LEV) is a widely used antiepileptic but associated with psychiatric side effects. While mild reactions are common, manic and psychotic episodes are less frequent, though clinically significant. This review critically assesses published cases of (hypo)manic and psychotic episodes related to LEV. A systematic review was conducted using MEDLINE (PubMed), Cochrane Library, and Web of S…

- Clinical Phenomenology of Bipolar Disorder With Substance Use Disorders: A Systematic Review. [Systematic Review]Bipolar Disord. 2026 Aug; 28(5):e70132.BD
- CONCLUSIONS: Specific clinical profiles were associated with different SUDs, which underscores the need for more research to improve our understanding and treatment of comorbid BD-SUDs. Further research exploring non-alcohol and non-cannabis SUDs and utilizing more rigorous methodological designs is needed to clearly elucidate these associations and advance substance-specific interventions in BD patients.

- Patient Mania Questionnaire-9: Spanish Language and Cultural Adaptation. [Review]J Acad Consult Liaison Psychiatry. 2026 Jun 12. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: The Spanish-language PMQ-9 demonstrated preliminary acceptability, usability, and cultural relevance for both clinicians and patients. Engaging end-users in the adaptation process strengthened linguistic accuracy and cultural fit beyond translation alone. The Spanish-language PMQ-9 may help support more equitable access to symptom monitoring for Spanish-speaking individuals with bipolar disorder in integrated care settings. Further psychometric validation and implementation studies are warranted.

- Symptom Dimension-Specific Neurotransmitter Correlates of Psychopathology and Cognition in Early Psychosis. [Journal Article]bioRxiv. 2026 Jun 04.B
- Extended duration of under-treated psychosis (DUP) is among the strongest predictors of poor outcome, yet diagnostic heterogeneity impedes treatment matching, with approximately 50% of patients failing to respond to first-line antipsychotics. Negative symptoms and cognitive impairment are particularly refractory, lacking effective pharmacological treatments. Identifying neurotransmitter systems a…
