  • Ischemic Stroke Following Transradial Uterine Fibroid Embolization. [Case Reports]
    Interv Radiol (Higashimatsuyama). 2026; 11:e20260019.Yuk-Tong Cheung V, Wing-Hang Lau V, Yim-Pui Chu JIR
  • Uterine fibroid embolization is generally considered a standard treatment option for uterine fibroids. Thromboembolic complications, such as stroke, have been reported, but the incidence is rare. A 41-year-old woman presented with refractory menorrhagia due to a uterine fibroid and underwent uterine fibroid embolization via transradial access. On the second day after uterine fibroid embolization,…
  • Focal and Diffuse Adenomyomectomy: A Systematic Review of Comparative Outcomes from Published Studies Including 3397 Patients. [Review]
    J Minim Invasive Gynecol. 2026 Jun 01. [Online ahead of print]Kale A, Kale E, … Oral EJM
  • CONCLUSIONS: Focal and diffuse adenomyomectomy represent two distinct surgical approaches reflecting different patterns of adenomyotic involvement and operative complexity. Focal adenomyomectomy is more often amenable to minimally invasive techniques and targeted excision of localized lesions. In contrast, diffuse adenomyomectomy is generally associated with more extensive surgery and complex uterine reconstruction and may be associated with greater symptom improvement and favorable reproductive outcomes, based on reported outcomes across studies. Despite differences in surgical complexity, obstetric outcomes following conception appear largely comparable between groups.
  • Intravenous leiomyomatosis of the uterus: A case report and literature review. [Case Reports]
Exp Ther Med. 2026 Jul; 32(1):190.Zhao Y, Tian FET
  • Intravenous leiomyomatosis (IVL) is a rare benign ovarian tumor that predominantly affects women of reproductive and perimenopausal age, and is often accompanied by uterine fibroids. Patients typically present with symptoms such as menorrhagia, anemia, dysmenorrhea, abdominal pain or a palpable abdominal mass. In its early stages, the clinical manifestations of this disease are highly nonspecific…
  • Advances in non-invasive diagnosis of uterine adenomyosis: a narrative review. [Review]
    Gynecol Pelvic Med. 2025; 8:13.Gallo R, Kamberaj L, … Masciullo VGP
  • CONCLUSIONS: The findings confirm TVUS as a reliable first-line diagnostic tool, particularly where histology or MRI is not readily accessible. A standardized classification system would improve diagnostic consistency, especially as emerging studies suggest correlations between imaging features and symptom severity. Younger women often present with milder, focal disease, while older patients typically exhibit diffuse forms. The integration of advanced imaging technologies with biomarkers may further enhance diagnostic precision, reduce the reliance on invasive procedures, and support fertility-preserving, patient-centred therapeutic strategies.
  • Impact of myomectomy on intrauterine adhesions. [Journal Article]
Eur J Obstet Gynecol Reprod Biol. 2026 May 25; 324:115211. [Online ahead of print]Poulsen BB, Kracht MB, … Rudnicki MEJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: In our study the incidence of intrauterine adhesions after abdominal myomectomy was low (1.4%, 95% CI 0.4-7.6%), in contrast to the 1-50% reported in most previous studies. The widespread use of minimally invasive techniques and standardized perioperative care in our study may have contributed to the low risk. Further studies are warranted to confirm our findings and evaluate any impact on reproductive outcomes.
  • Incidence and burden of endometriosis among U.S. active component service women, 2017-2024. [Journal Article]
MSMR. 2026 Apr 20; 33(3):10-17.Murray JH, Mabila SLMSMR
  • Endometriosis is a complex gynecological condition affecting nearly 10% of reproductive-aged women. This report updates a 2017 MSMR report of gynecological conditions, including endometriosis, from 2012 through 2016 among U.S. active component service women. The current report utilized medical encounter data from 2017 through 2024 to assess the incidence of endometriosis and its health care burde…
  • Disparities in Discussion of Heavy Menstrual Bleeding in Patients With Iron Deficiency. [Journal Article]
J Prim Care Community Health. 2026; 17:21501319261431599.Patel NN, Samuelson Bannow BJP
  • CONCLUSIONS: Non-white patients were more likely to be asked about HMB than NHW patients. Only about half of patients are asked about menstruation at the time of diagnosis for iron deficiency. Male providers are significantly less likely to ask about menstruation than female providers. The findings of this study highlight the infrequency of thorough discussion of menses in patients with ID, as this may improve diagnostic clarity, guide further workup, and thus reduce costs for unnecessary tests.
  • Metastatic High-Grade Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma Presenting With Recurrent Bilateral Pneumothoraces. [Case Reports]
    Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e106717.Chakalian H, Asif A, … Bernstein RC
  • Endometrial stromal sarcoma is a rare malignancy that can be difficult to diagnose due to its nonspecific presentation. Unfortunately, the presenting symptoms of abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB), anemia, and pelvic pain overlap with symptoms of benign uterine fibroids, which can delay diagnosis. Additionally, initial evaluations with imaging or even a negative endometrial biopsy may provide false …
