  • Paediatric Collagenous Gastritis with Transient Response to Steroid Therapy. [Journal Article]
    Eur J Case Rep Intern Med. 2026; 13(8):006709.O'Connor R, Standish R, … Hodge AEJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: Collagenous gastritis is a rare but important cause of iron deficiency anaemia, particularly in young patients with persistent gastrointestinal symptoms.Alternative causes of iron deficiency beyond menstruation should be considered in young female patients, with early consideration for endoscopy.Symptomatic improvement with corticosteroids may be transient and sustained clinical or histological remission remains difficult to achieve.
  • Call to action: identifying an underlying bleeding disorder in adolescents with heavy menstrual bleeding. [Review]
Res Pract Thromb Haemost. 2026 Jul; 10(5):106818.Gupta S, Castaman G, … Shapiro ADRP
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is prevalent, with consequences impacting quality of life from adolescence through adulthood. Several clinical tools have been developed to aid in HMB diagnosis, which must be coupled with a detailed menstrual history. The diagnosis of HMB should be accompanied by evaluation of coexisting iron deficiency or iron deficiency anemia with appropriate treatment, and impo…
  • von Willebrand disease: an illustrated review. [Review]
Res Pract Thromb Haemost. 2026 Jul; 10(5):106838.Abou-Ismail MY, Kouides PA, … Connell NTRP
  • First described 100 years ago, von Willebrand disease (VWD) is the most common inherited bleeding disorder, characterized by a quantitative or qualitative deficiency of von Willebrand factor (VWF), a large multimeric glycoprotein central to hemostasis. Despite its prevalence, VWD remains globally underdiagnosed. Accurate diagnosis requires thorough clinical assessment and specialized laboratory e…
  • Fixation techniques for the Levonorgestrel-Releasing Intrauterine system in adenomyosis: a narrative review. [Review]
    J Obstet Gynaecol. 2026 Dec; 46(1):2709034.Pan Z, Wu T, … Gan XJO
  • CONCLUSIONS: Intrauterine fixation significantly mitigates LNG-IUS expulsion in adenomyosis. While highly effective, the manual and invasive nature of these techniques necessitates careful patient selection and rigorous safety monitoring. Future research must prioritise large-scale randomised controlled trials. Ultimately, clinical practice should transition from manual surgical modifications towards the standardised industrial development of next-generation LNG-IUS devices equipped with inherent anti-expulsion features.
  • Prevalence of iron deficiency in reproductive-age females on anticoagulation. [Journal Article]
Thromb Res. 2026 Jul 25; 264:109792. [Online ahead of print]Bakow BR, Zon RL, … Baumann Kreuziger LTR
  • The use of anticoagulation in reproductive-aged females increases the risk of heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB). Excessive blood loss from HMB can lead to iron deficiency (ID), without or with anemia (IDA). We investigated the frequency with which reproductive-aged female patients on anticoagulants undergo screening for and receive a diagnosis of ID/IDA. We conducted a retrospective cohort study usi…
  • Platelet Function Disorders: Glanzmann Thrombasthenia and Type 2 Von Willebrand Disease. [Case Reports]
    Cureus. 2026 Jun; 18(6):e111287.Ramamurthy NR, M S, … S DC
  • Bleeding disorders represent a broad spectrum of conditions that disrupt normal clot formation through abnormalities in platelet function or the coagulation cascade. Disorders affecting primary hemostasis typically manifest as mucosal bleeding, whereas abnormalities in secondary hemostasis more often lead to deep tissue hemorrhage. However, certain conditions, such as von Willebrand disease, may …
  • Correlations between TSC Expression and Menorrhagia in Adenomyosis Patients. [Journal Article]
Reprod Sci. 2026 Jul 21. [Online ahead of print]Gu NH, Luo LJ, … Xu HRS
  • The TSC complex, formed by the binding of TSC2 with TSC1 and TBC1D7, plays an important role in the onset of endometrial-related diseases through the TSC-mTORC1 axis. However, the relationship between these proteins and adenomyosis has not been determined thus far. Here, we aimed to investigate the expression of TSC proteins in adenomyosis and determine the correlation between TSC expression and …
  • Associations between shift work, sleep quality and menstrual disorders among nurses: a cross-sectional analysis study. [Journal Article]
BMC Nurs. 2026 Jul 16. [Online ahead of print]Tang Y, Zhang M, … Jiang MBN
  • CONCLUSIONS: Shift work and poor sleep quality are associated with menstrual disorders among nurses. Mediation analysis suggests that sleep quality may represent a potential pathway underlying this association, with a statistically significant mediating effect observed in irregular menstrual cycles. These findings highlight the importance of considering both occupational scheduling and sleep health in strategies aimed at improving reproductive health in shift-working women.
