  • Unexpected melanoma metastasis with E-cadherin expression in bone marrow. [Case Reports]
    J Hematop. 2026 Jun 26; 19(1).Pocci MJH
  • Finding an unexpected metastatic lesion in bone marrow biopsy (BMB) performed for a hematological indication can cause diagnostic issues. In a BMB performed in a patient with suspected acute leukemia evolved from a post-essential thrombocythemia myelofibrosis a group of atypical cells with E-cadherin expression was found. After careful morphological evaluation and further immunohistochemical stai…
  • Exploring the Role of CD44 in the Progression and Invasion of Chondrosarcoma. [Journal Article]
Oncol Res. 2026; 34(7):15.Bell Z, Chan CD, … Rankin KSOR
  • Objectives: Chondrosarcoma is the most common type of primary bone sarcoma in adults with a high risk of local recurrence and metastasis. Chondrosarcomas are largely resistant to chemotherapy and radiotherapy, meaning that surgery is the mainstay of treatment for most patients. Therefore, new therapeutic targets are required. Cluster of differentiation 44 (CD44) is a transmembrane protein that ha…
  • Prognostic Factors and Survival Outcomes in Resectable Thoracic Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcomas. [Journal Article]
    Cancers (Basel). 2026 Jun 11; 18(12).Yavuz G, Walter J, … Schneider CPC
  • Objectives: Thoracic sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of rare mesenchymal tumors. This study aimed to identify prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in patients undergoing resection of primary thoracic soft tissue and bone sarcomas. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed patients with primary intrathoracic or chest wall sarcomas who underwent surgical re…
  • Efficacy and tolerability of CDK 4/6 inhibitors in HR-positive HER2-negative de novo metastatic breast cancer patients aged ≥ 70 years. [Journal Article]
BMC Cancer. 2026 Jun 25. [Online ahead of print]Atci MM, Erciyestepe M, Erturk KBC
  • CONCLUSIONS: A review of the literature reveals that studies on the efficacy and tolerability of CDK 4/6 inhibitors have primarily focused on a limited number of patients aged 70 years or older. The results of these studies, similar to our study, generally indicate that efficacy and survival are similar to those in younger patients, and that dose reductions do not significantly impact survival. Furthermore, there are no studies in the literature yet that examine the relationship between the Charlson comorbidity index and survival in elderly patients with multiple comorbidities who are receiving CDK 4/6 inhibitors.
