- Transcriptomic Profiling of Cutaneous Melanoma Metastases Treated With Microwave Ablation-Pilot Study. [Journal Article]Clin Transl Sci. 2026 Jun; 19(6):e70638.CT
- Microwave ablation induces heating of tissue. High energy results in thermal cell death, but low energy treatment without tissue necrosis has been shown to induce cutaneous immunity in an HPV wart model. It is approved as an effective cancer treatment for solid organ cancers, and therefore it is of interest to know if microwave delivered directly to the skin holds potential for treatment of skin …

- Boiling Histotripsy Ex Vivo in Human Liver Metastases of Various Origin. [Journal Article]Ultrasound Med Biol. 2026 Jun 18. [Online ahead of print]UM
- CONCLUSIONS: BH enables non-invasive mechanical ablation of human liver metastases across multiple primary origins. The treatment process can be accelerated by reducing pulse numbers for non-fibrotic or necrotic tumors; however, fibrotic tumors require higher number of BH pulses for complete disintegration. These findings support the use of BH as a potential modality for managing liver metastases, whether applied as a standalone procedure, a neoadjuvant strategy, or following anti-tumor therapy to ensure complete removal of the residual tumor burden.

- Merkel Cell Carcinoma With True Direct Parotid Gland Invasion. [Journal Article]J Craniofac Surg. 2026 Jun 19. [Online ahead of print]JC
- Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare, aggressive neuroendocrine skin malignancy. We report an exceptional case of a 71-year-old female presenting with a 5.7-cm MCC in the left parotid region, representing a rare case of true direct parotid parenchymal invasion-distinguished from the more common intraparotid nodal metastasis-alongside multiple regional nodal metastases. The patient underwent wide…

- [Assessment methodology of pathomorphological regression of melanoma metastasis in the sentinel lymph node after neoadjuvant/perioperative immunotherapy]. [Journal Article]Arkh Patol. 2026; 88(3):79-84.AP
- This methodology has been developed to standardize the pathology evaluation of melanoma metastasis regression in the sentinel lymph node after neoadjuvant/perioperative immunotherapy in patients with stage III resectable cutaneous melanoma. The methodology is intended for use by pathologists, clinical and surgical oncologists, and healthcare quality assessment experts. It can be implemented as a …

- Transformative Advances in the Treatment of Melanoma: A Review. [Journal Article]Curr Cancer Drug Targets. 2026 Jun 16. [Online ahead of print]CC
- Recent advancements in melanoma treatment have reinvigorated hope among patients, significantly shifting the therapeutic landscape. A significant advancement in patient outcomes has been realised by applying first-line treatment strategies that include Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors (ICIs) and targeted therapies. Ipilimumab combined with nivolumab has demonstrated superior outcomes, earning a media…

- Classification of High- and Low-Risk Patients With Dermal Leiomyosarcoma: An Exploratory Nationwide Cohort Study. [Journal Article]J Surg Oncol. 2026 Jun 15. [Online ahead of print]JS
- CONCLUSIONS: Although few distant metastases were observed, high-risk dLMS features may include tumor necrosis, mitotic grade 3, perineural/intravascular invasion, or positive surgical margins. Cases without these features may be classified as low-risk dLMS. We propose regular cross-sectional imaging in the follow-up of patients with high-risk dLMS, whereas follow-up for patients with low-risk dLMS could be limited to clinical examinations.

- Clinical and Pathological Predictors of Unfavourable Outcomes in Thin and In Situ Melanomas: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Taiwan. [Journal Article]Acta Derm Venereol. 2026 Jun 15; 106.AD
- Thin melanoma, defined as tumour thickness ≤1.0 mm, and melanoma in situ are increasingly diagnosed. However, acral-predominant Asian populations appear to experience higher rates of adverse outcomes than Western cohorts. This study aimed to identify prognostic factors among Taiwanese patients with early-stage melanoma. We reviewed 178 melanoma in situ/thin melanoma cases diagnosed from 1995 to 2…

- An Extreme Clinical Diagnosis: Primary Metastatic Breast Cancer with Complete Bilateral Breast Contour Elimination and Ulceration. [Journal Article]Diagnostics (Basel). 2026 Jun 05; 16(11).D
- A 51-year-old woman was admitted with a malodorous ulceration covering the whole area of both breasts, without visible breast contour or remnants of breast tissue. After excision of a skin nodule an invasive ductal carcinoma was diagnosed; grade-2, hormone receptor (HR)-positive, HER2-negative, Ki-67 at 25%. Computed tomography of the thorax and abdomen showed pulmonary and osseous metastases. Si…

- Background and Clinical Significance: Advanced-stage and recurrent metastatic endometrial cancer (EC) is a complex and challenging disease with a poor prognosis. Immunotherapy is a promising treatment for advanced and recurrent mismatch repair deficiency (MMRd) EC. Case Presentation: A 57-year-old female patient with stage 2 dedifferentiated EC with MMRd (immunohistochemistry revealed PMS2 loss) …

- CONCLUSIONS: This case is the first to demonstrate a durable, near-complete response to amivantamab combined with chemotherapy in a patient harboring an uncommon EGFR G719A mutation and extensive visceral metastases. Although further studies are warranted, this report highlights amivantamab-based combination therapy as a promising salvage option for high-risk patients.

- CT and MRI features of SAPHO syndrome: a report of 6 cases. [Journal Article]BMC Musculoskelet Disord. 2026 Jun 08. [Online ahead of print]BM
- CONCLUSIONS: Skeletal lesions of SAPHO syndrome predominantly involve the anterior chest wall (the "bull head sign" is characteristic) and the thoracic spine (with continuous vertebral involvement, showing the "bright corner sign" and "kissing sign"). The combined use of CT and MRI facilitates comprehensive evaluation of lesions, and identification of skin lesions can improve the recognition of this disease.
